We had a fun time at a happy hour. The cocktail was great - not too sweet. The burrata was delicious with a little kick. My friend got a piece of cheesecake and a coffee. She enjoyed both. It definitely seems like it's more appointed for breakfast/brunch but I'm glad I got to try it without a long wait on the weekend.
Cue Lizzo "about damn time." It took me long enough to make my way over to Hemma Hemma though it's been on my list literally since they opened their doors. When Donna Kelce listed it as amongst her favorite spots in KC I just knew it was going to be a slam dunk and yet it STILL took me this long to make my way over. All that being said, I have a standing lunch date with a friend on my calendar and after looking at her text that simply said "Hemma Hemma?" I was so excited to give it a try. I was just coming from a meeting near the Plaza so it was a quick jaunt for me, and I was honestly surprised to find that Hemma Hemma is located in Waldo, right on Wornall. Turns out I've driven past it countless times and never even realized it. For a weekday lunch at noon I was a bit worried about parking but I was able to get a really close spot right on Wornall so don't let that deter you one bit. When you walk in it's honestly kind of perfect brunch/lunch vibes. It's sort of like a marriage of a cozy cafe and a chic home kitchen. You feel welcome and relaxed. It's an order at the counter kind of place and I had their pickle fried chicken salad (forgive me for not remembering the official name!). It was divine. I will say it was very crowded when I was in there but there were plenty of seats, mostly because they've used the space well and there is ample room for single diners to sit at a large communal table in the back, which really frees up tables for folks that are there to chat with someone. Aside from all of that the food is great, the folks working are so nice, and I can't wait to return.
After wanting to go for ages, I finally was able to get to Hemma Hemma. Went there on a Saturday morning around 9 AM with a friend. There were still plenty of seating which was a relief for me. I was seated right away. I wasn't very impressed with our waitress, I'll be honest because it took her a long time to come and take our drink orders. Anyway, I started with a chai latte. She made it very confusing to order because apparently their chai is green tea so there's no caffeine so in order to do that you have to order a dirty chai with the espresso and that you know obviously made the flavor less chai forward. And they only have whole milk, oat milk, and soy milk - no skim, which was disappointing for my meal companion's coffee. I'm a biscuits and gravy freak, but I decided I would branch out and I tried their breakfast burrito but I did get a biscuit on the side, so I knew for next time. The burrito was so delicious! And big. I took half of it home. The biscuit was fantastic and I look forward to trying the biscuits and gravy. My friend got their ricotta toast and it was beautiful to look at. As far as the ambience, it is an adorable space with a lot of character. It was a bit loud because they put the tables pretty close together, but for Saturday morning, it was a great vibe. I absolutely would go back because the food was great but the waitress just wasn't quite where we needed her to be because she was confusing and slow. But other than that, I want to try their dinette! But this is one of the best brunches I've had in ages.
Wow!! Wow!! Amazing food. Staff were super friendly. Family friendly. This is a must. Go try this place. The plate presentation unbelievable. You would think you're at a Michelin 5 Star restaurant. The pricing was adequate. All the flavors on the plate blended well together. Now all I have left to say is go and give them a try. You will be amazed!'
Delicious! So glad to have finally tried this new restaurant in Waldo area. The chicken sandwich is one of the best in the city for sure. The salmon wrap was also good, the sauce made the wrap way better! Inside was quite quirky with bright colors and cute decor. Food was brought to our table quickly. Staff were great as well, instructing us to order then sit down to wait for food.
Finally got to try this place as it has been highly talked about and the reviews aligned well with my own experience. Since it was a Saturday, we did their brunch. Started off with the Masa pancakes, which with the cinnamon butter was a hit. Then the entrees included their breakfast burrito and their Waldo bowl. Eggs were cooked perfectly and the sauces are incredible. The only downside was that we ordered the pancakes to come out as a starter, but it all came out together, so some of the food got cold since we didn't want to mix in sweet pancakes with savory eggs.

We started with a few beverages and shareables -- the Burrata + Tomatoes and Trio of House Dips were absolutely delicious (the beet hummus is a must-try!). For our mains, we had the Aji Verde Chicken Thighs, Herby Chicken Salad Wrap, and Yoshoku Beef Curry -- everything was so fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The staff was friendly, the service was great, and every dish tasted so thoughtfully made. Definitely one of my favorite KC spots -- perfect for any meal of the day! Cinnamon roll was nice and warm. Masa Pancakes were my favorite. Sausage gravy in the Waldo bowl was a bit spicy, Which I like. Husband enjoyed the avacado toast. Great food! Service was on point.
Wow, Hemma Hemma! I don't know why it's taken me so long to try Hemma Hemma, but I'm so obsessed! First off, it's the cutest little cafe/ restaurant! It feels so cozy inside and is decorated so cute! Love the little sitting area for waiting or grabbing a coffee! The food is also amazing! I heard good things about their cinnamon rolls so had to try it and it was so soft and pillowy and served warm! And their breakfast burrito hit the spot! The aioli that came with it was a game changer- yum! I'm already looking forward to the next time!
I went there for brunch with two of my friends and the decor was super cute. There is a seating area when you walk in and an area where you can order coffee and other drinks to go. There is a back room area that is decorated like a kitchen inside of a home. We shared a cinnamon roll that was good. I ordered the H-Ville Hot Chicken Sando with fries and both were good and a nice serving size. We also ordered a tequila sunrise that was good but was a little pricey. Our server was really attentive and friendly. I would return.
Super cute little place! If you're looking for some fun upscale vibes this is the place for you! I had the salmon toast which was so yummy, and aesthetically pleasing super refreshing and filling as well! I also tried the iced spiced pear matcha latte with oat milk 10/10! Not too sweet and just super Yumm! The true star of the show was the cinnamon roll, it was HUGE, so soft and warm! The icing want overly sweet, it was more like a cream cheese type icing which I loved. Ontop of all that the parking was easy! There's some out front and a small lot in the back. Also the women's restroom was very clean and even had pads and tampons available if needed. Highly reccomend going here!
I stopped by here with my sister for a late Saturday lunch/brunch. The space is absolutely adorable - super well-decorated and clean. I ordered the BEC sandwich and she had a salad. I also had to add on the ginger cookies that were covered in icing. My sandwich was delicious. The egg was souffled, resulting in a thick fluffy egg layer. The sandwich was a great size and had a ton of flavor. My sister also really enjoyed her salad. The ginger cookie was AMAZING. It reminded me of a better version of the Little Debbie Gingerbread cookies that come out around Christmas time. The cookies were soft and the icing was plentiful. I will definitely plan to stop by again on my next trip to KCMO.

Found a hidden gem at Hemma Hemma. Started with the burrata and tomato salad, which was excellent -- rich, creamy burrata with a spiced oil drizzle that had a nice kick, paired perfectly with the tomatoes. The chicken wrap was excellent too, served with a side of dill sauce that tied everything together. Went during happy hour, which was a great deal -- just get there before 5:30, it cuts off early. I just want to say what a GREAT experience I've had dining at Hemma Hemma! I've been there twice so far, and have been consistently impressed. This past week, I joined a friend for lunch, and we both want to formally thank Dana at the front counter for being so welcoming, gracious and helpful. I accidentally knocked over the menu holder, and she reassured me that it was fine and happens frequently. My friend and I split the bill for our order, and she cheerfully rang up each of our portions separately. She guided us through some of the menu options which was much appreciated as there were some new items since my last visit. The food here is FANTASTIC!! I can't remember what I ordered on my first visit (but I do remember that it was delicious!); this week, I had the Brookside Buiddha Bowl, which was AMAZING! Even the presentation was wonderful (see attached photo)! All the ingredients were delicious, and the flavors melded beautifully, and it was so satisfying; it kept me fueled and focused during a long afternoon at work. My friend had the Pickle Chicken Bacon Ranch salad and said it was mouth-wateringly fabulous. The weather was nice enough to sit in the outside patio, which is well-appointed (even a free water station); the first time I was here, I ate indoors and the dining area is light, airy, and expansive, with plenty of room between tables and quiet enough to chat. Having such a healthy, delicious restaurant in the neighborhood is marvelous, and I'm already planning my next trip back to Hemma Hemma! Thank you all SO much! read more
Walking into Hemma Hemma, you feel welcomed in it's cozy, inviting space. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and it is apparent that consideration for the home-y vibe went into every aspect of the design of the space. The restaurant is not massive so I would recommend a reservation if you can, or you may end up needing to wait for a table (they only do dinner reservations). One thing I would want to mention is the tables are a bit close together making it a little awkward when you're getting up. We had to move our table to let the folks sitting next to us in and then again when we were leaving. I couldn't wait to try the Filthy Martini, a spring specialty cocktail, which contains both pickle AND olive juice + pickle stuffed olives and a salt and pepper rim. It was just exactly what I wanted and would come back solely for the cocktail. For dinner, I had the Yoshoku Beef Curry and it was delicious. The meat was so savory and the runny egg was a perfect add. Strongly recommend if you like Japanese curry. We cannot wait to come back to try brunch and we are also looking forward to their Dinette location downtown opening on the weekends to give that spot a try as well. read more

I have been wanting to visit Hemma Hemma for some time now, and I'm glad I finally stopped in for breakfast! The counter to order at is right inside the door to the left. They have the menu posted on the wall, but there are some physical copies to look at as well. At the counter, there are some grab & go options, pastries, and drinks. Otherwise, you order at the counter and take your number to a table. The space isn't tiny, but I can see how it would get super busy on the weekends during peak brunch hours. There are even signs on the tables encouraging folks to turn over tables if many people are waiting. On a weekday, I had no trouble finding a table. There's a water station in the middle of the space, and all your silverware is on the table. The food came out hot and quick! I am a breakfast sandwich expert, and the BEC was solid! The scallion sauce on top was delicious but otherwise nothing super special. The whipped ricotta toast was a great slightly sweet addition to the breakfast table. Beyond the food, the vibes in Hemma Hemma are adorable, and the staff are super friendly and helpful! Can't wait to come back to try more food and maybe attend one of their cooking classes! read more

This place is adorable!! It is so cozy & homey in here. I got the herby chicken salad wrap with fries and a side of ranch. Honestly, the sauces here were the stars. The ranch had a strong dill flavor and was so refreshing & the herby sauce inside of the wrap was delish. There is so much seating in here & the decor is so cute and inviting. I will definitely be back to try their coffee & a cinnamon roll read more

Experienced Hemma Hemma for the first time for brunch. Everything on the menu looked amazing & the actual food did not disappoint! Egg soufflé sandwich. Stellar! Biscuits & Gravy. Stellar! Did I mention the Gravy? Stellar! And they even had a fabulous old fashioned We had a group of 15 & everyone was thoroughly impressed! the egg sandwich and chocolate scone were divine. the salad was a little overdressed, and we discovered that they only do the smothered burrito during the week and not for brunch, which was a bit of a bummer. Overall great food and good vibes, it can get a little loud in there, though. read more
Hemma Hemma was hopping this weekend! I got the Choco Banana latte and it was absolutely delicious - the chocolate flavor was not overpowering, as some mochas can be. The service was fast despite there being a long line. I also got the brown butter blueberry muffin, and while it was on the small side, it was very good and moist. read more
Perfect day-time eatery or brunch spot on the weekend. They have both a kitchen menu as well as pre-made items you can take for home. We came here for brunch and I had the county breakfast which is their take on a classic breakfast platter served with eggs any style, potatoes, bacon and their special gravy which was so tasty! I added toast with butter and jam, would've been nice if it came with meal, but oh well. Nice selection from menu without feeling overwhelming. They also offer cooking classes which I think would be fun to try. Final review: 4/5 stars read more

Fun and trendy spot! Has a smaller cafe inside for coffee and pastries and even has a to go window. If you are going for seated brunch, I recommend you go early. The place was packed around 10:30 on a Sunday and I understand why, the food was delicious and filling. Has seating options to accommodate for larger groups, which was nice. Hemma Hemma is a cute daytime restaurant in the Waldo area. In addition to the dining area, there's a grab-and-go section with prepackaged goodies and an instructional kitchen for cooking classes. I visited for the first time earlier this year for brunch (available on the weekends) and tried the avocado toast. There are a couple other vegan options that looked tasty so I'll have to return soon to give those a try. read more

I've heard so much about Hemma Hemma and was so excited to try it! My party of four arrived at 12:30 on a Saturday and were seated with no wait even though it was definitely busy. I ordered the herby chicken salad wrap. It was so yummy and a huge portion. The fries were good too. We did want to order the smoked salmon toast, but were told they were out. This was a little disappointing but we did see someone order it while we were eating. One of my friends also ordered California chicken sandwich but received a h-ville hot chicken sandwich. When she told the food runner it was incorrect, they told her there was no other chicken sandwich on the menu. Our server didn't check on us until we were finished eating so they never had a chance to correct it. The hot chicken sandwich was still good, but just not what we ordered. We also ordered coffee to go. I definitely recommend the cinnamon brown sugar syrup! read more

This is my favorite breakfast spot in Kansas City. The breakfast burrito and egg sandwich are both so savory, I need to mix it up next time I go but love these so much. Coffee / matches are great too. Seating is usually tight on weekends but you can usually find something within 15 minutes. read more
Great service and a truly delicious brunch! I don't know what was in their lattes, but I couldn't get enough. We ordered the smothered burrito, Waldo bowl, and whipped ricotta toast. Phenomenal! The seasonings and fluffiness of the eggs and ricotta was chef's kiss. read more

Amazing brunch and adorable decor! We stopped by Hemma Hemma on a Saturday morning for brunch and were immediately struck by the modern, Midwestern, cozy vibes. The restaurant has a counter for ordering their breakfast and lunch items, as well as baked goods from Ibis, coffee drinks and a small market with pre-prepared items to go. We ordered smoked salmon toast, pimento fried chicken sandwich, chocolate chip cookies, tahini cookies, brown butter blueberry cake, and a cold brew - everything was top notch and amazing! My smoked salmon toast was a standout - perfect herbed feta and bite sized pieces of salmon - highly recommend! Ibis baked goods are always fantastic and did not disappoint this time. Our service was friendly and quick, and we were able to get a table right away, they have lots of seating. The restaurant asks if you will bus your own table to help them out, which they make pretty easy with lots of bins and receptacles. Highly recommend Hemma Hemma! We will be back!! read more

This is a charming multi-room and multi concept venture in north Waldo. Some will flock here for a grab and go pre-packaged meal on the run, others for their coffee bar and others for their culinary classes, but I just came in for the Sunday brunch menu. The name is Hemma Hemma but my biscuits and gravy were Hubba Hubba! A fresh buttermilk biscuit with a sausage gravy sounds pretty basic, but the creamy gravy immediately gave me multiple flashbacks of past dishes with subtle hints of curry and paprika in the rich creamy goodness. A home run! This is an easy 5 stars for being such a cool and comfortable environment that meets so many different needs. Very eager to return for more of their options. read more
RUN to this place! We had heard about it and finally went around 10:30 on a Friday. Ample seating at that time but we did get the LAST cinnamon roll so keep that in mind because it might be the best in the city!! And I've tried them all bcz I'm always on a quest for the best one! The B&G was delicious. Unique with maybe curry and turmeric but still classic enough for those who like the original! The biscuits are very buttery and flaky, too!! They have prosecco in the cold case and also some Sonoma red wine in a bottle so you can make your lunch or brunch boozy and I like that option. They have a walk up window for to go orders and that was good since it didn't mess with the flow inside. Three different rooms for seating. One lounge area where you order and grab things from the cold case, a main dining room with lots of seating and the kitchen at the back, and then a large side room which is the cooking class kitchen where lots of seating is available when not in use for classes. Combo of delivery to table and also bussing your own tableware. You can order for catering and also rent out the space, so lot of options here. They are also going to be adding a dinner menu this fall! We will definitely make this a favorite spot. read more

Cute brunch spot! Got there at 9:30 and there was a small line. You order at the desk and then find a seat and they'll bring everything to you! They have so many food options from sandwiches, bowls, toast, and burritos. Tried their seasonal sticky rice matcha and it was amazing. Their matcha is really good and there's a subtle mango flavor. Also tried the passion fruit tonic matcha, not a fan at all. I don't think anything sparkling should be near a matcha. Their Waldo bowl was delicious! Nice serving size and a little kick in the flavor. Their whipped ricotta honey toast was also delicious! A nice big fluffy piece of toast with a thick whipped ricotta drizzled with honey. It wasn't too sweet at all but something light! I have to come back to try more of their menu. All the staff was super nice and I really liked the ambiance of the restaurant. This place is aces. I honestly didn't know what to expect -- quite literally, because I wasn't sure if it was all grab & go, or if they offered actual hot meals (spoiler alert: they do), so I was glad to try it out and get the lay of the land. For starters, the whole place is a vibe. Great aesthetic, welcoming staff, and lots to look through. You most definitely can go here for a meal! Sure there's some nice grab & go options and even a coffee bar, but those are in addition to the restaurant, not just stand alone. Their staff will guide you through if you're a first timer, but if you're there to eat: head towards the right, grab a tray, and you'll see all the tasty options available that day. We tried a farro salad that was delicious, and a chicken caesar wrap that was equally delicious. My wife had a matcha tea drink that she loved and would go back for. Oh and we had to try a cookie and went out of left field with the "tahini cookie" which, you guessed it, was delicious. There's nothing not to like here, it's a great addition to the neighborhood and fits in well IMO. Can't wait to ride bikes down the Trolley Trail with my girls and have them try it out soon! read more
