Recreational activities right on the grounds, swimming, fire pits, grilling, water craft, life jackets, & shuffle board 5.) Recreational activities inside the lodge, TV, books, games, pool table, fuze ball & air hockey 6.) Kitchen, laundry & baths semi stocked for ease of living 7.) Large enough for big groups Just like the best campground ever ...but stepped up a notch because there is a pine paneled big woods rustic cozy cabin to stay in! If an authentic northern Michigan cabin experience is what you have in mind, look no further. We stayed in the big lodge but there are several size cabins available. Randy & Doreen are super nice, and very good at communicating before and after your stay.

Hoping this honest reviews helps anyone interested in booking with Coastal Suites…read more We try to support small, local businesses as much as possible, which is why we chose Coastal Suites vs. a larger chain that was cheaper in price. Coming in from Seattle, we booked this for a wedding we were attending nearby for one of my boyfriend's best friends. Unfortunately, we came down with Covid and immediately tried to get in touch with this hotel to cancel our reservation. Their line rang endlessly and instead of being able to leave a voicemail, the call ended with a continuous busy signal after regular dial tones. I must have called at least 20 times when we were within the 7 day cancellation policy. I eventually got through to their voicemail and left a total of 2-3 voicemails, in which I stated the issue with their line and not being able to get through to a person or leave a VM, at the very least. Those also went unanswered. By the time the crew got back to me, we were conveniently outside the 7 days to cancel for a full refund. I then asked to get in touch with the manager, as no one seemed empathetic, understanding, or helpful in dealing with this already painful situation. I spoke with Cari, the general manager, over text, as she wouldn't call me...She coldly offered me a 50% refund as a best case scenario, ignoring all the steps I took to cancel and get 100% of the reservation back. She then said 100% would only be possible if they filled the room, which didn't seem fair at all. I then asked to speak with the owner. The next day, I received an email from Anna, one of the owners. She also avoided the phone call I requested and blamed meetings...I, too, am in meetings most of the day, but there is always 5 minutes that can be found, especially given all I had gone through up to this point. She also pressured me into cancelling the reservation so they could try to re-rent the room, but I wasn't comfortable potentially losing 50% of this reservation if they didn't rebook it (they had 2 other rooms that were cheaper available so the odds didn't seem good). I gave her full context of what happened up to this point, and she disregarded all of it, referring back to the cancellation policy. I did explain that I would be involving my credit card company to dispute the full charge as well as write an honest review, since we tried cancelling many times within the cancellation policy. Instead of doing the right thing, she stated "Please note, threatening to harm our business with a false review disqualifies you from receiving a full refund regardless of whether it gets booked, so I do not recommend taking that action." Following these communications, I received 2 more calls from the staff "returning my calls" from weeks prior...each time I re-explained what happened and pleaded for them to do the right thing. At this point, we've been fully credited by our credit card company and I'm summarizing what happened to us in detail so you are fully aware with who you are booking with. Rest assured nothing written here is falsified and I'm only highlighting the "customer service" behind this company. I have full receipts of everything, in case anyone from this company tries to say anything to the contrary. As painful as it was to have to cancel this very important trip, the owners of this location did nothing to sympathize with our situation, let alone take ownership for their flawed phone system and their overall lack of organization/customer service, and all over $200 (total reservation was $400). Please don't book with this company, as our friends were very happy booking elsewhere for their stays.

Our room was so cozy and our beds were perfect and comfortable. The decor was really nice. They have a clubhouse with a big tv, PlayStation and DVD player, as well as apple juice and popcorn and board games. In the morning, we woke up to snow, and the same gal that checked us in told us she cleaned the snow off our car once and then proceeded to clear my car off again for us. I have never experienced such great hospitality at a motel/hotel, and I travel quite a bit. The girls and I went in for the continental breakfast...they had small milk bottles, Tropicana oj, muffins, bagels, granola bars, bread, and coffee. When the owner mentioned it, I was very disappointed, but once we were there, I was so happy with the opportunity. With any B&B, you're staying in the main house, having idle chit chat with other guests, and sometimes hear people in other rooms. The cabin, you have none of this, just perfect tranquility, silence, and isolation. The owners stocked up the fridge for us and we can have breakfast in our own cabin. It was more of a continental breakfast, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, granola, etc..., but it was so pleasant. The cabin is located about 500 feet from the main house and several miles from the main road, and about 8 miles from downtown Traverse City. You really get in the woods feeling without being to far from the city and you have a river flowing through your backyard. It is a really nice place and I would gladly stay there again.

I knew they booked up for summer in January but I called in December to ask for a specific date and they didn't have an answer. Booking was over the phone, which seems outdated. We booked 3 nights and would have easily booked a 4th if anyone had told our group (3 separate families) that the fun activities like a glow parade and foam party happen on Saturday night. We'll definitely keep that in mind for the future! We were one of very, very few tent campers. There are no reduced costs for tents. All sites are gravel. We stayed at 2 locations - site #7 which had a bright streetlight on all night,, and site #122 which was darkness. A con of #122 was that the fire ring was next to the wall so you couldn't place chairs completely around it. Overall, there were so many wonderful activities that really made this place awesome for kids! The man made lake included inflatable trampoline, slide, and climbing tower, the pools had basketball hoops, there was a jump pad, pickleball courts, bike trails, Cornhole (BYOB - bring your own bags), sandpit dodgeball, a playground and scheduled activities/crafts. There are a few on-your-own-time activities like a scavenger hunt that took a decent amount of time because the campground is huge! They have coin-operated showers (10 minutes for 1.00) but all 3 times I tried, at different times of day, it was still a not-warm shower. The lodge had a decent selection of food. My kids enjoyed corn dogs and I loved the crispy chicken tenders! Ice cream is naturally delicious. Overall, great experience! Maybe their next enhancement will be mini golf...

Unfortunately, I always ended up staying in a hotel in a city LOL. This time, we had no choice as everything we tried was fully occupied when this motel came to our rescue. I am really happy that we decided to stay here. The place has just 11 rooms; don't be alarmed, the rooms are fantastic. each suite has its own living room, a small kitchen with a stove and small refrigerator, a microwave, coffee maker, sink and all the utensils, cutlery and crockery that you'll need. The owner was very friendly and we enjoyed our little chit chat with him. The place is exceptionally clean given the size of the housekeeping staff. Kudos to them. The beds were well made and looked nice, kinda place I'd like to stay in when I'm on a road trip. The pictures will give a better explanation of this place. There is sufficient parking her and a gas station just next to it with a small store to buy food, drinks etc and the lady at the store is really sweet. The rooms are decorated like a lodge with rustic hewn pine beds. The staff put a goodie bag in each room with bottles of water, treats and traverse city maps and coupons. The rooms also have mini fridges nice TVs and cable. The air freshener is a bit strong but that is minor. We got in super late after our show but the owner waited up for us. He even called ahead to the beer store to stay open for us and started us a bonfire. We had a gorgeous view of the starry sky. We enjoyed the heck out of our stay and since it's pet friendly I will be back with our dogs :)

Eric and Misty are friendly, knowledgeable and accessible hosts. The food they made was delicious and is chef-quality. They did their best to accommodate our dietary restrictions. All of these factors helped make our stay an amazing experience, as well as their advice on where to go and what to see in the area. The Inn itself is a large converted farmhouse on an organic cherry farm just north of Traverse City. it does sit next to a highway so there was some significant road noise at times. However it is still an idyllic peaceful property with many places to sit and contemplate nature.

The large wraparound porch was the highlight for us! Even though there had been quite a bit of rain, we were able to spend some time outside overlooking the cherry trees and we were able to see one of the most beautiful sunsets of our lives. The wide open fields that surround the property were a much-needed respite from city life. The home is cozy and historic feeling while somehow also seeming updated in many ways. Our room was well appointed and extremely clean. We stayed in the Kesner room with a slight view of the bay. Breakfast was delicious and somewhat unexpectedly posh, as Eric prepared an egg scramble over asparagus with a breakfast caprese salad, as well as a fruit & ginger smoothie. We enjoyed meeting other guests at the table as well. Misty & Eric also provided complimentary refreshments to guests, which was a nice touch to an already lovely stay. I was initially concerned that it wasn't close enough to Traverse City for our visit to the cherry festival, but it was a quick drive into town and I would absolutely stay at Country Hermitage again. Overall, I can't say enough great things about Country Hermitage and our hosts. Highly recommend.
