*COULD* be great! I want to give this a better review based on a couple things, however the lack of cleanliness really trumps most of the positives. Pros: Great location. The beach is literally right outside the door and they have decent furniture outside to use. There is a super nice playground in walking distance for the kids. The room layout was fine and spacious, and the kitchen appliances seemed newer. The pool was also a bonus, although seemed over chlorinated and had lots of sand in the bottom. Towels seemed newer and clean. Bed was comfy. 2 balconies with nice views. The Cons: The entire place is DIRTY, old and unkept. Our room alone had stained and moldy curtains, the carpet was absolutely disgusting, splatters on walls and windows and a VERY nasty shower, which we did not use. Spiders and webs in the lamps. Cups in the cabinets had mouth marks all along the rims. The secondary bedroom door cannot be shut due to the bed being in the way. The walls outside of our door were stacked with what looked like new unboxed furniture as well as greasy old appliances. We were gifted this room due to original booking person not being able to make it last minute. I would not have been happy if I paid $400 for this place for one night, only for it to look the way it did. Especially with check in time being 5 and checkout being 11. I would easily recommend this place over any other I've stayed. Very clean, lots of room at an exceptional price. Was more like a small apartment than a motel. Full kitchen, living room, huge balcony that was easily 2-3 times the size of a normal balcony. Plenty of space for everyone. 2 tvs. Staff was very nice. The reason to stay here is quite simple, it's a great location. Right on the East Arm of Grand Traverse Bay. Nice beach, close to the State Park and its beach, and close to several restaurants. However, this is not a luxury resort if that's what you are looking for. It's a bit dated in decor, the service amenities are few, the overall facility is definitely showing its age. If you get a very competitive room rate and you're OK with the older facility it's a good place to spend a week on the beach. If you are looking for an upscale experience, I would look elsewhere. read more

I have to say, when my husband suggested this place I was kind of weary about staying here based on the pics it looks like it hasn't been updated since the early 2000s. Now that our trip is over, I can say for a short trip to Traverse it's really all you need. They provide a comfortable condo, with a very spacious walk out balcony which is accessible via the bed room and living room. The room is near front with beautiful views of Lake Michigan. You can easily walk out onto the beach and relax on the lounge chairs provided. You have a living room with tv, kitchen, utensils fridge. Bedroom has a tv, bathroom with heated floors, toiletries, & separate make up area. I did see a pest control box behind the toilet which creeped me out, but did not see any bugs inside the facility. It seemed to be very clean and well kept despite the aged appearance of the building. They have a game room which takes coins and looks out on the beach. You have access to the beach via the game room as well. The main building is where the fitness center, pool, sauna, and whirl pool are located. Fitness center is small contains of outdated treadmill, stationary bike and elliptical. Sauna is clean and well functioning. Whirl pool can fit 5-6 people at one time. The pool is clean and looks off onto the Lake Michigan. I would say it was a good pick by the hubby and I would return. read more

Doesn't even deserve one star. My husband booked this as a birthday trip for me and omg. The first room was so dirty mold growing in and near ac units with allergies i about died walking into the room. They had one more room to switch us to and it's was equally disgusting. Not worth the money to stay here save yourself the disappointment and book somewhere else. Not to mention the abundance of safety issues. RUN from here. read more

Such a great spot. Yes they are renovating so there are some things related to that but it did not affect our stay. Wonderful "room" was actually more like an apartment, full living area, kitchen and bedroom. A large balcony (with patio yfurniture) faces the bay. The staff was great! (We had trouble figuring out the "smart tv" and Dana sent a nice guy to talk is through it at 10:15pm! We were there in early October. Perfect. read more

The only difficulty was the fact that we shared a balcony with everyone and not our own separate balcony.But other than that the game room was really nice and the rooms were HUGE! But my family had three people so the beds were kinda tight but we made it work! I totally recommend this resort! read more

Do not waste your money!!! I remember when this hotel was built and it was amazing - right on the beach of Traverse Bay! It has gone straight to a 1-star (or less) rating. Let's start with the front desk staff being so unfriendly and untruthful. Made reservations in early May for Sept. stay. Requested room 337 or 335 and was told they could not confirm which one, but one of them would be available. At check-in was told neither one was available but room 122 was available and it was "the same room" as the others. IT WAS NOT. Room 122 had filthy carpeting and dried blood stains on one of the comforters. One of the sliding doors leading outside was package taped shut with a room air conditioner in it. The housekeeping no longer comes around and tidies up - empties trash or gives fresh towels. Called the front desk and they said to gather up our own trash and set it outside of the door ... what If Inonsense is this for over $300 per night??! When we went to turn in our "keys" when we left (yes, there are no cards/card readers for the doors) we were told we owed an additional $54. We did not. When questioned what this was for the person at the front desk said - they must have added wrong when you checked in. WHAT?! Our party of 4 people go to TC every Fall for a weeks vacation ... we have never encountered such horrible service and filth in a hotel any where. DO NOT ... REPEAT ... DO NOT ... I'll let you form your own opinion by providing you with facts from my recent stay: front desk claimed never to have confirmed our suite (which she took our $150 deposit on 4 months prior). The suite was not open but she put us in a suite with half the living room space, stating it was exactly the same as the one promised. She stated there were two bedrooms with four queen beds; there were four full beds, two of which were against walls so difficult to get in and out of. There is no housekeeping service; you're expected to empty your own trash (all waste baskets are 1 gallon capacity so don't buy a large pizza). They do not change your bedding (in 5 day stay); they put a set of sheets in your room for you to do it. Second bedroom had no extra bedding and first bedroom only had two sets of towels, again, for a five day stay. The day we arrived they invited us to a barbecue and "bring a dish to pass", which wasn't what we were expecting after a drive from greater Detroit to Traverse City. One word of advice: ask for a receipt upon departure and verify that you have no balance due. We we're told at check in their policy was to pay in full at that time. Thankfully, I requested a printed receipt. There was an additional charge added that she couldn't explain and said there must have been an error in addition. I told her I wasnt leaving until she made that go away. it was enough!! read more

This hotel was an AMAZING value for the price! The view and the beach were really great. While not fancy, the rooms were nice, clean, and well stocked with all the supplies you need for an extended stay in Traverse City. A full kitchen, HDTV with DVD, full-size fridge and stove, an indoor pool and whirlpool make this hotel really great. You're a short drive from downtown and all the other things that make Traverse City a great Michigan destination. I was very very happy with this stay. My only complaints are that the sofa bed couch was a little uncomfortable (because it's a sofa bed) and there were spiders on the balcony at night. read more

We stayed in the timeshare portion- and it was great! Very quiet and pleasant! The pool/hot tub had a max of 5 people in it at once the whole time we were there! This definitely caters more to the older crowd (most of the owners have owned for many years) but I appreciated how friendly everyone was! Booked on a whim a couple days ahead of our arrival, and it was the last day of the Cherry Festival, so the rate was $300 for one night. Awesome location, right on the beach and bay, but for that price, I really did expect more. The space of the room was great; bedroom and living area are separated by a door, with a full kitchen and two patio doors going to a balcony, again, right on the beach. Perfect! That being said, especially for the rates charged, I would have expected the rooms to be spotless and updated. The decor is circa 1985. The beds were hammocks, and the top comforters did not appear to be clean. Paint was peeling off the cabinet in the bathroom. Coffee was advertised, and there was a coffee pot in the kitchen, but only one packet of decaf was provided. All of the towels provided were well worn. I have stayed in far nicer hotels for half that nightly rate! read more

In 1981 my parents bought a timeshare here. For pretty much every summer since, we have come up here. I'm now 32 and my parents own 3 units. It's my favorite place in the world and it's just not summer without it! I miss getting Buffalo Wings at Larry's Place next door, but regardless, I cannot wait to share this gem with my own kids! read more

Just got back from a 7 day stay here for the first time. I have driven by this place for years and always wondered what it was like. We came up with two other couples and all had separate rooms. Check in is 5 pm which I think is a little late when you are paying 250 a night and then checking out at 11 am and paying another 250. Check in was seamless once our room was ready and we stayed in a one bedroom with two double beds and a private balcony on the 3rd floor. The room had everything we could want for a 7 day stay. Kitchen had all the appliances and dishes we could want. Living area was large and separate from bedroom. Both rooms had new flat screen T.V.s. Bathroom was hidden around corner from beds so you can have some privacy. Balcony had a gorgeous view of East Bay. Furniture needs some updating and there were a few small things that could be fixed around the property but this IS a prime location hence the 250 a night. Rooms were cleaned three times while we were there but I believe that does not get done for timeshare owners. Indoor pool, hot tub, game room, small 3 piece exercise room and a dry sauna are about it for extras. They do have a deck and gas grills that are available to guests on a first come first serve basis. They also have a resort sponsored cook out on Tuesday night with hot dogs and burgers and you can bring a dish if you want. All staff were very friendly. Biggest issue we had all week was putting up with first floor guests who thought that the community tables on the lawn outside their rooms was for their use only. Resort policy states that these are first come first serve but we had consistent verbal spars with ground floor tenants who must have had trouble reading the rules. I will be calling other hotels in vicinity next year to check on pricing. I may find find a better deal and I may not. They also have two bedroom rooms if you have a larger party. Best tip for staying here is try and get room with private balcony. read more

This is our 4th year here. We enjoy coming every Fall when it's not busy. We always frequent the beach and the indoor pool/hot tub. The room is clean and has good amenities, including a full kitchen with everything needed to cook meals. Check-in and out is easy. Access to downtown Traverse and tons of area activities. We will continue visiting every year, if not more often. read more

Stayed here on a RCI certificate - great location - beautiful view and normal room. Wish the beds were bigger, but they are soft and comfy. The wi-fi had issues today which was an issue since we were here to work, but they did get it fixed by the end of the day. Overall a great time. read more
