I'm a handicap senior citizen in a wheelchair. I was there for a dentist appt. I was going to the back but the receptionist told me to wait in the front. She soon told me that she had never done this before but my shaking was so bad, I'm about to make her vomit in her mouth and she had to put ne out of her sight because she couldn't take me anymore, she spoke do loud that everyone could hear. When Dr Spenser Jr seen me I felt he was trying to get me out as soon as possible. I'm on handicap transportation, when he finished he opened the door for me to leave. I had to wait outside for a while for my transportation to come. I do have a nervous condition where I do shake but she could have been a little polite. I heard her telling them that she just can't take it no more, I just didn't know it was me. Dr Spenser just listened but he never told her to be nicer. Please understand that I'm not exaggerating when I say that Dr. Craig Spencer is, by far, THE WORST dentist I've ever gone to. I'll elaborate on another review here that said this dentist's office "is like a backdoor operation." It truly is. The model of the business is to squeeze in as many people as possible in order to save money. That means everyone gets rushed service. One way that Dr. Spencer cuts down on the amount of time he spends with a patient is by skipping essential health checks, like x-rays and thorough examinations. For example, before the pandemic a couple dentists (in a different office) did x-rays on me and told me that it was essential that I get a deep cleaning ASAP bc I had significant bone loss. After I was vaccinated I felt safe going to a dentist again so I made an appt for a deep cleaning with Dr. Spencer and told him about my past x-rays. Without doing an x-ray or even looking at my teeth, he told me that I didn't need a deep cleaning and just gave me a regular cleaning. He lied. I did need it--badly-- and that was confirmed by two subsequent dentists. Dr. Spencer just didn't want to take the time to do the deep cleaning bc he only booked my appt for 20 minutes and that wasn't enough time for a deep cleaning. Again, his model is to squeeze as many people in and out in as little time as possible, even if that requires sacrificing your health. He also has a horrible bedside manner. If you ask ordinary questions, he becomes shockingly rude. I politely asked him a question about what might be possible on my procedure. His response: "I'm going to let you think about that question and answer it for yourself." At first I thought he was joking because it was so rude. So I laughed and waited for him to respond but then I realized he was serious and was not going to answer the question. So I responded: "You don't have be condescending. I'm not being rude to you." His response: "Yeah, I kinda do have to be condescending." WTF?! This is a professional who I'm paying thousands of dollars for a service. Who talks to clients like that? Who talks to ANYONE like that? I'm a lawyer and I could not dream of speaking to my clients like that. I haven't gone into full detail about how awful my experience was with this office (i.e. he caused permanent damage to my bite). But suffice it say, please do yourself a favor and save your time, money, peace. DO NOT GO TO THIS OFFICE. He is honestly the worst dentist I've ever gone to. You deserve better. read more

I can honestly say that the practice helmed by Dr. Craig Spencer with Laura and Alyssa making it all happen in Frankfort, the office is a pleasure to visit, and the team's going above and beyond any measurement of helping their clients is found in the fact that on one occasion of an appointment, the ROCK ISLAND METRA train that I was taking from LaSalle Street to Hickory Creek was delayed after departing the station, and, when I called the office to say that I would be late, rather than cancelling my appointment and rescheduling me for another date, the indispensable Angel called Laura came and fetched me in her own car! Can you imagine this level of service anywhere on The North Shore? Thank you, Brookside Dental for all of your help. read more

The receptionists were very unprofessional (complaining out loud while patients were present and showing 0 restraint-total yahoos). The atmosphere and equipment are in dire need of an update. It sucks that people who need affordable dental work might have to settle for this place. Dr. Spencer was polite and filled my 3 cavities, no problems...but I would NOT recommend getting any serious work done here. Its like a backdoor operation. read more

My family and I have been going here for the past 10 years. Excellent dental practice and care. Dr. Craig is a great dentist, and the rest of the staff is professional and kind. Brookside Dental sends out phone reminders for appointments and gives out dental home care goodies. My appointments are on time and the work is never rushed, whether it be a cavity filling, crown work, or teeth cleaning. Highly recommend!! read more

I went to see Dr. Craig for some dental implants last year. I was a nervous wreck at having to do something so serious as these implants. The guy is calm, cool and relaxed and very professional. I felt well treated here throughout the whole process. His main assistant - I'm sorry I can't remember her name! - was very sweet and also very professional. The front desk were down to earth and treated me like a friend. I also enjoyed seeing some of the senior citizens come in and the funny conversations they had with the doctor. It seemed to me like he treated everyone like family that came in. I was and am impressed. I've had a few problems with my implants since getting them in, but this has nothing to do with the dentist here. Every time I needed to come in, they got me in the SAME day and took care of everything. I'll be moving this week across the country and hope and pray that I can get a dentist half as nice as Dr. Craig! I would highly recommend this dentist to anyone needing basic to very serious dental work. read more

I always recommend Craig to anyone who asks about Dental work! I have been seeing him for about a year now and I love him. He's always down to earth and lets you know outright what's going to happen and how much it will be. He's never steered me wrong, and any work I've had done by him is superb. The receptionist are always quick to crack a joke and are always fun to be around. Most of the time they also have little healthy goodies on the counter and send you home with a complimentary dental home care package. I will never go to another place, ever. read more

I had two porcelain veneers put on my front teeth and the end result is excellent - I'm so happy with them. Plus, Dr. Spencer gives shots that are painless - I've never had numbing shots that were so gentle! read more

Dr. Spencer does not know what he is doing and has horrible chair side manner. I went in to have a filling replaced and also had two cavities filled. Every tooth he has touched has since had to be extracted or had a root canal in less then one year since the work was done. He also got mad at an elderly patient that he did not want to take the time to listen to their concerns and then took it out on my tooth and got mad at me when I told him that he was hurting me. I could go into a lot more detail but I would be here all day. He is a horrible doctor who should not be allowed to be practicing dentistry. read more

I had to go to dr. Spencer for months. I had to have two sets of teeth made. I went in many times for adjustments and they still were not correct. I finally had to go to a new dentist to have it done correctly. I paid Spencer and he would not return my money for a horrible job. read more

The receptionist is extremely rude! It's not a good look when the 1st person u deal with has a bad attitude.

I suggest to stay as far away from this dental practice as you can! I went there for a routine check up and had a cavity filled. The tooth was still bothering so I went back in and the dentist said he didn't see a problem but would fill it again. I ended up in excoriating pain, while 8 months pregnant with he same tooth. Went to a different dentist who took and X-ray and it showed that brook side had made the filling so deep that it was sitting right on top of the nerve. I ended up with an infected tooth and needed a root canal. I had asked the dentist at brook side numerous times if the tooth needed a root canal and he said no. Needless to say I had to suffer for three years with a bad tooth because this dentist does not know what he is doing . My husband also had to get previous dental work from them fixed as well as other family members. read more
