I have to start the post by saying that I absolutely adore this place. The food is wonderful, the service is absolutely amazing, plus their wine list is off the hook. The only reason I have an issue with Brookvin is how often they don't turn the ac on, if the temperature outside is above 75 then it would be a smart business move to keep their customers happy and comfortable. Instead of having a few glasses of wine and a bunch of appetizers, we had one glass each and one small charcuterie dish and went to a different bar. It was 85 degrees outside and they had open air ventilation. Until they use their ac when it's over 75 degrees outside, I will probably go else where. We also saw 2 different sets of customers come in and leave after feeling the heat inside. With how many refrigerators and draft machines they had on, it probably 10 degrees hotter inside. read more

Just come here. Don't bother reading all the reviews, just know this: this is a fantastic and fabulous wine bar in Park Slope without the pretentiousness you would expect from a wine bar. Lovely, knowledgable servers, wine on tap, fabulous Happy Hour specials (amazing bacon mac and cheese for only $5?!) and just an overall great atmosphere. Garden outside and open windows in the front for the warmer days. They'll let you try any wine if you're unsure. Beers, too, if your fat boyfriend can't handle a glass of red. You know when you beat yourself up because you find a gem and wonder how it took you so long to find it? Yeah? This! Brookvin! If there were more stars to give, I'd be giving them left, right and center here. What an awesome and fun evening my friends and I had the other night. The space was designed perfectly for what they are selling. WINE AND CHEESE! YUM! There's a beautiful outdoor area with plants, so very charming. Indoors is rustic, dim and cozy. Firstly, we walked in with only half our party because we weren't sure if the others were coming. Our waiter, let's call him Sally :) offered us the option of sitting outdoors and then moving indoors when they come. Also because they close the outdoor section at 10. We did order some wine while still sitting outdoors but our friends arrived shortly after so we just moved indoors and continued the night there. Everybody ordered different wines and small eats. All the dishes were incredible and bursting with flavor. I will say that I know I made Sally's life difficult by asking him to choose which wine to serve me, but he truly did not disappoint. I love when the people helping me dine out are so charming and friendly. It makes the night that much better. I am so glad I now have Brookvin on my radar. Good food, great drinks, and an incredible staff. Walked by this place last night not realizing how popular it was and that we should have made a reservation in advance. Sincerely lucked out and was able to sit down only after a few minutes. Owner & Staff could not be more kind (and safe!). Definitely get the chicken pot pie and the pumpkin manhattan (drink). Came here Monday night during their all night happy hour, and this place is easy to fall in love with. The inside is classy with wooden interiors, however the AC seem to be broken when we went. No worries, we requested a table outdoors at the patio, which closes at 10PM while the rest of the restaurant closes at 11PM. The happy included $5 wines, and you can choose from their specific red, white or rose (el Coto) white. We tried all three being the alchies that we are, and my favorite out of their was the red. (Not sure what the house selection was) I tried the amazing happy hour Mac and cheese (only $5, and $1 extra for bacon. Must get the bacon). We stopped here after a long walk to get a glass of wine. Were welcomed in very warmly by a man who seemed like he may have been the owner. Checked our vaccinations and were greeted by name. Several staffers were by our table to drop food/drinks/water and all of them were just ridiculously friendly and seemed happy to be there. Snacks were good. We got the mozzarella salad and some paté. The backyard can be a little buggy and we hadn't sprayed up but they were super nice about us moving inside. This is my favorite wine bar in park slope and I have been dreaming of the day they would open again. My husband and I decided to come tonight to their garden to eat dinner since we are in phase 2. They were so clean, courteous, and pleasant. They took our temperatures as soon as we walked in, and sat us immediately after. The waitress was so kind and made us feel so welcome. The owner was literally walking around thanking everyone for being there and being so kind. I just love this place so much and am so happy they're open. I'm not surprised that they are going out of their way. Friday night, 8:30 p.m.. Brookvin or Provini? Both have extensive, and somewhat pricy, wine by the glass. Both have knowledgeable, affable, bartenders who LOVE to talk about wine. Both are still working out their music selections. Provini sometimes plays 80's new wave. Brookvin sometimes inexplicably plays disco REALLY LOUD. There is something sad about listening to "Brick House" and realizing that oddly everyone in the bar is white and no one is dancing. Not that I usually disco dance in wine bars... Provini ambiance: zinc bistro meets Italian. Brookvin ambiance: dark wood inside, outdoor patio in back. Provini diners and drinkers: late 20's to early 40's. Quiet, happy, couples, (maybe married) girls night out groups, and random attractive youngish singles (librarian types) keeping to themselves. Brookvin types: couples (lesbian and straight), loud (shrieking) drunken girls in too small spandex dresses, single older men in button down shirts and tweedy jackets. (Cute young men, take note. Girls always outnumber guys here.) Provini: expensive, tasty, Italian meals. Brookvin: equally expensive, tasty, little toasts with spreads. (Don't think of going to Brookvin if you are hungry. You could easy drop $50 and leave starving.) In a nutshell, I would always chose Provini for myself. However, I never go out by myself and am usually outvoted in leu of noisy, crowded, Brookvin. read more

Came here on Saturday with some friends after a bottomless mimosa and sangria brunch and a bar hop. We ducked in here as we waited for a Mexican bar/restaurant nearby to open at 4pm. Brookvin is a pretty cute place with reasonably priced wines that are delicious and nicely curated to only have a select few, but good, bottles. We all went with their happy hour rose which was $6 for a glass and it was delicious and refreshing - not overly sweet., but lightly fruity. During happy hour their $4 snacks become $2 and thank goodness because as delicious as they all sound on the menu, snack portions are painfully small. The small container/plate they come served in is smaller than your average ashtray. A friend and I decided to split an order of their Maple Pecans, they were absolutely delicious - but again with such a painfully small serving I would have been annoyed by paying anything over $2. Friendly staff, lots of snacks and interesting sandwiches on their menu make this a place I would return to...during happy hour. read more

Although the venue is quite charming, it's not what I was expecting. The serving sizes are disappointingly small relative to price. My friend and I ordered the manchengo cheese tapa and we received just two tiny triangles. Not what we were expecting. They should be clear on their serving sizes. They do have a very extensive wine list and are *very* attentive to the fullness of your water glass. I'd say that this place would be a good locale to get wine and wine alone. If you're looking to get a real meal, look elsewhere. read more

Brookvin is such a fun place to go for drinks and a bite after work. Only thing that holds me back from going there more often is my budget! :) As to be expected, lots of wine options here. They've even got a few wines on draft! The folks here are knowledgeable and it's easy to taste something before committing to a full glass. Last time I was here, I also tried their hot mulled wine... and let me tell you it was superb! Charcuterie is a bit pricey, but it is what it is. On a recent visit, we actually skipped it and instead tried a few small plates -- and all of them were real winners. Meatballs over polenta? Yum. Steak and creamed spinach crostini? The wine selection at Brook*Vin is varied and accessible. The tapas plates are carefully prepared and delicious. But what really makes me come back to Brook*Vin is the service. First, you will notice (if you return multiple times) that the turnover is low- the management and owners must treat their employees well. Second, you will notice that those who serve you are attentive, knowledgeable, and personable- especially Rachel (or Rachael?) the bartender. I've never had a bad experience there. I highly recommend this restaurant. Service was perfectly, warm and informative. Even though we didn't have a reservation, our server offered us the same $50 prix fixe with 90 minutes of unlimited cocktails set aside for reservation customers. It was stellar. The current pumpkin Manhattan is the only "pumpkin anything" I've ever had that would have again. And again. The creamy tomato soup and cheesy toast "soldiers" marched right into my childhood memories of warm, cozy comfort (that I had only in fantasy up to that point). The proprietors may be offering such great service and menu deals due to the pandemic and its well known threats to the restaurant industry. But a silver lining is a silver lining. Came here for a meet and greet event and what a nice spot this is in Park Slope! It's definitely a hidden gem and I will be going back. Had a long day of work and finally decided to try Brookvin after living a few blocks away for the past 1.5years. The wine assortment is great, both wines I had were delicious although pricey at $14/glass. The charcuterie and cheese board was such a disappointment. At $27 for 3 items, we opted for 2 cheeses, and 1 meat. They really skimped on the serving size. Literally the brie cheese I ordered was the size of a baby bella circle, and the manchego was a very thin triangular sliver. They didn't have prosciutto or parmesan which are my favorite cheese and meats. I felt like it was overly priced, especially for this neighborhood... I've been to better wine bars in the city that weren't as expensive. I recommend getting the steak and creamed spinach on the crostini. It was so delicious and flavorful. The french onion soup was a large portion and hearty as well. I wasn't a huge fan of the mac and cheese, it was kind of dry. Lastly, the chicken pot pie's flaky crust was delicious, the filling was mostly dark meat which my fiancé didn't like but it was rich and flavorful. Most of dishes they serve are on the heavy side and cheese or cream based. I would return for a glass of wine, but definitely not for a full dinner as I tried to last night. We each had 2 glasses of wine, and a bunch of small plates to share, and the charcuterie, it came to almost $150 including tip. Definitely not a cheap Monday night meal on the whim! read more

Brooklyn restaurant scene is on top of it's game. Brookvin just proved it. 5 stars and counting. Can I add more? First of all, love the set up and decor, simple, easy-going, with plenty of room at the bar, tables or outside patio. Drinks menu is enormous, you can find any beer, wine or cocktail you wish for, all in cool-looking booklet (huge props for design!). I had Hibiscus Negori, and it was done just right. Lots of beers on tap, with Happy hour prices (runs till 7pm), Six point crisp is definitely worth mentioning. Food was out of this world. Mind you, those are tapa portions, not full meal, but amazingly good. Mac n Cheese with perfectly crisp slab bacon was better than homemade, and Tuna Tartar was refreshing. Loved the addition of pomegranate seeds. Now, of course I had to try dessert, are you kidding me? Bread pudding with whiskey ice cream and bacon caramel sauce?? Freaking. Awesome. And you know what else? They play the coolest oldies on background, best music ever to sway to. I'll definitely come back. You should, too. read more

Since I've moved to the neighborhood, I've been meaning to try this place. And I have to say, it exceeded my expectations as my friend and I ended up hanging out there for hours. The service was great. They are super friendly and attentive. We had a great spot by the open-air front area but as it got a little chilly, they closed the windows for us. My favorite part of the night was when my friend and I couldn't decide whether or not we wanted to go for a third glass of wine and the server jokingly was like, you can always have a 1/2 glass pour...which I did :) We came for happy hour, which I believe was 5-7pm, and I got this great Portugal wine I've never tried "Alentejano" for only $6 a glass. I also got the mac&cheese happy hour special topped with bacon (also only $6). It really was the perfect way to end the week on a Friday. My friend got the cured salmon salad which looked healthy and amazing (next time maybe I will forgo my mac&cheese haha). We also split the "Boucheron" cheese which to me tasted like brie but less creamy, meaning I loved it! And the extra touch with the Jalapeño jelly, it was the perfect flavor combination. It looked like there was a garden in the back which I would like to try on a warmer day. I can't believe I didn't make my way to this place sooner. read more

The ham sandwich here is unbelievable. The best I have ever had. It's a country ham, the dry, chewy kind that you normally get as a steak, and eat with a knife and fork. Only they've sliced it very thin, so you get the heft and texture, yet it seems to melt in your mouth at the same time. It comes on perfectly toasted sourdough, with a sweet (excellent counterpoint) mustard dip. I am not kidding, when I finished it, I ordered another one, even though I wasn't hungry, because I was worried that if I left the restaurant, something terrible might happen like me being hit by a car without ever having gotten another one of these sandwiches. There was other stuff about the restaurant, service, prices, decor. I forget how all of that was. Please listen to me: go to Brookvin and eat the ham sandwich, so that they never rotate it off the menu. read more

Brookvin proved to be an excellent choice of venue for my 30th birthday party. The owner was very accommodating, including with last minute changes to my party size, and the waitstaff and barstaff went out of their way to ensure that we had enough to eat and drink. I discovered a new, interesting wine that is available by the half bottle here--the Saracco, Moscato d'Asti, whose menu description proved apt: "sweet, lightly sparkling, low alcohol, and so very refreshing! Aromas of peach and honeysuckle give over to flavors of sweet pear and vanilla. Sit in the sun and drink!" My friends seemed to enjoy the Portuguese rose and California pinot noir. The tomato gazpacho and the meatball appetizer accompanied by fresh, toasted bread were very tasty and substantial. They even threw in a free dessert with a candle, a polenta cake with poached pears. I want to love it, I do. I love the idea of Brookvin, but man the service sucked enough to take off a couple stars. The ambiance is ideal for a night of wine and cheese, and I had a long overdue girl's night with my friend and I gotta say, a place that doesn't make two hot chics feel hot is a negative for me lol. After all, who are the customers you're appealing to with wine and cheese? We waited 20+ minutes for a waiter to show up, we ordered 4 types of cheese and only ever received two. Who knows if they were even the right ones. No one ever checked up on us after our first glass. We shared a small salad and some mac and cheese and the bill came out to $100. Ouch. Would I come back? If they get their act together and make their prices more reasonable. People will spend the money if the experience is worth it. read more

I have been to Brookvin a number of times and enjoy reconnecting with friends over a delicious drink. I know it's a place where I can go to and have a drink and socialize with my peers. I'm just hoping this social norm is not changing based off of my recent trip to Brookvin. I found it disturbing that a pregnant woman and her family and 3 year old child sat at the table next to me and enjoyed wine. This does not make me want to return to this bar because children do not have a place in this setting. Unless the owner is planning on making Brookvin a Chuck E. Cheese, ditch the children and stick to adults. read more

I'd never been here before, and was looking quickly through Yelp for restaurants with outdoor seating and great reviews. I had my toddler in tow, and wanted some fresh air. Brookvin came up at the top of the list, and I headed there. When I discovered there were no high chairs, I asked if it was a child-friendly restaurant, and was given a wishy-washy answer. I would have much, much preferred that they said that they were not a kid-friendly establishment. In short, do not come here with kids that can not sit in their chairs quietly. Otherwise the wait staff will give you dirty looks when our child acts like - well - a child. read more
