I was happy to finally visit this gem. The atmosphere is unique as you're surrounded by bicycles and cycling equipment. I tried the rosemary molasses latte since I thought it was an unusual option. Really lovely quaint little place for coffee, brunch, and all your bike needs (apparently, I didn't actually use the bike portion of the shop). Ordered my first pour over coffee cause I figured this would be a good place to try it and I was quite pleased! Don't know if it's more caffeinated or it was in my head, but I was pretty jazzed all day. I also tried the BLT which was delicious! Let me start by saying that when I walked into Broomwagon, I wanted to love the place. The guys who run it are a handful of 20-something hipsters who have created a comfortably casual place to enjoy a peaceful meal. And I did appreciate the atmosphere and the nice guys working there. Where Broomwagon falls short is in the food and drink department. My chai latte had very little chai flavor, and Paul's bumblebee coffee was "okay." Paul ordered the French toast, which was their cinnamon rolls transformed. It tasted good, but when you order French toast, that's all you get. Something (a protein) was noticeably missing. The same went for my omelette, which tasted good (with the exception of the raw onion inside it), but was served with nothing else. How about a piece of toast or some fruit? We paid twenty something dollars for a small coffee, a large latte, French toast and an omelette and walked out hungry. I think Broomwagon has a great deal of potential. If they add some accompaniments to their breakfast dishes, they will be heading in the right direction. read more

I can say I've only ever been to one bike shop before so my patronage at one is quite limited. I don't own a bike, and haven't since I broke my leg riding one as a kid. But this was groovy place to check out what's on the market, get some air in your tires, and even enjoy a bit to eat and drink. The small menu of beer, smoothies, shakes, coffees & teas, and items like grilled cheeses, BLTs, with sides like chickpeas, chips & salsa, and pickled squash seemed to be a strangely good fit with a bike shop. At first glance, I assumed it was a vegan or vegetarian menu but there was one offering with bacon that I saw so it's semi-vegetarian I guess. One nice thing is that the food is all "KY Proud" in the sense that all of the ingredients listed during Tiffany's talk with us were KY made. The cafe area is quite small for any type of crowd or group function, and if you hit a rush the kitchen may back up a bit because we were told it's quite tiny. Luckily, the building's businesses share a spacious courtyard. While outside, I was able to listen to a country band play live. If you're a bicycle person, a new age hipster, or just enjoy unique cafes, I'd recommend checking out this place. read more

So lovely! We went there and they have a nice outdoor area to eat and a wonderful drink and food menu. Everything was delicious!

Prior to the event, I was unaware of Broom Wagon so it was good to try a new place. Honestly I had to look up what broom wagon the name stood for. As it turns out it's a van that follows a bike race and picks up riders who will not complete the race. That kind of set the tone for a bike shop that evolved into so much more. Tiffany, one of the main manager / owners, told us a bit more about the history of the shop. The location started as a bike sales & repair place and, because they wanted to serve beer, ended up morphing into a small restaurant as well. Much of the fare that they serve has a vegetarian flair to it but was incredibly good to sample. They also have a coffee shop with many specialty drinks and some signature drinks of their own. I was able to sample the grilled cheese sandwich, vegi wrap, chick pea salad, kale salad along with a Bumble Buzz latte (flavored with bourbon honey - YUMMY!) and everything was fantastic! I was very impressed with the food offerings. Two other quick mentions - there was an acoustic band playing music on the evening of the event. It was a pleasant night and the band helped create a great ambiance. I understand they have bands out regularly. Also, all of the staff at Broom Wagon were incredibly nice and willing to help. The great thing about Yelp events is they're a fun, no-pressure way to check out places you might not otherwise go, which often leads to pleasant surprises. This May 2016 event at Broomwagon is a perfect example. Broomwagon has a great, novel concept in that it's a combination bicycle shop, coffee shop and beer garden. The food we sampled was all fantastic, and the majority of dishes were things I might never have tried otherwise (case in point: the delicious kale salad, which was my first experience with that particular cruciferous vegetable). The pickled zucchini salad was out-of-this-world, and all food is prepared fresh in a kitchen the size of a Barbie Dreamhouse. It's true that good things come in small packages. Kudos to Heather for putting together another great Yelp event and thanks to the nice folks at Broomwagon for classing up the corner of North Limestone and Loudon. read more

After work I hopped into my car to head over to the Yelp event and found that Broomwagon was only a 6 minute drive. It's good that I allowed for more time though, because I needed to circle around a couple of times to find a good spot. The room inside the coffee shop was very small so I spent most of my time at this event outside at the swag table. Kudos to Heather for bringing the bike bells! Those were a big hit! I don't have a bike so I didn't take one though. Although I did notice people who weren't from the Yelp event helping themselves to one. I enjoyed the band outside. Their music was relaxing to listen to on such a beautiful evening. Unfortunately the snacks and drinks weren't to my particular taste. I tried the chai latte and drank it because I was thirsty, but I wouldn't order it again. Coming straight from work I was pretty hungry and got excited about the grilled cheese sandwiches. The 1/4 of a sandwich that I sampled had an unusual citrus taste to it. I would have preferred the sandwich without the lime flavoring. read more

We dropped off my 90 year old mom's walker Sunday afternoon. Got a call at 8:30 AM Monday morning saying it was repaired and we could pick it up when we got a chance. The store was locked for safety - only those with masks were escorted in and the staff were wearing masks as well. The young men who waited on me and rang up the repair were so friendly and kind. I had planned to surprise my husband and bring him here for lunch because of the many vegetarian/vegan options. We had parked at a nearby distillery and walked 20 minutes in a snow flurry only to get there and find out you ordered at a window and sat outside (yes in the snow, after being in it for a while). So I understand it's not their fault we walked as far as we did in the snow but I felt like a future customer during covid should be forewarned that the seating is ONLY outdoor seating. This place has great coffee and yummy breakfast/brunch items. I had the most delicious earl grey latte with espresso and lavender. They even made it according to your preference (I enjoy mine less sweet). I've had their breakfast wrap which is made fresh. The food does take time as they prepare everything once you order. Prepare to grab a coffee and hang while you wait :) they also have a CBD menu if drinks and you can add CBD to any drink for a reasonable price. My husband and I found this place by chance while we were in town for a brief visit. The space is divided with the coffee shop on one side and bike shop on the other with a few extra tables for overflow. We tried a lavender mocha latte and the bumble buzz latte and both were very good. We also each ordered the jammie sammie which was excellent, served on fresh bread that was good enough to eat on its own and came with a side of tortilla chips and green salsa. The menu selection is pretty decent with lots of espresso/latte options and vegetarian friendly sandwiches and wraps. Nice bike shop and awesome coffee shop. read more

I had driven past Broomwagon's many times but thought it was only a bike shop and so I never stopped. In addition to the bike shop that sells bikes and accessories and also services bikes, there is a small little coffee shop and deli. The menu is limited due to the limited kitchen space, but all of the food we sampled was very good. I especially loved the pickled zucchini! I appreciate their use of local ingredients and serving mostly local products. They share a cute little outdoor courtyard area with the adjacent businesses and they have live music and other events there regularly. Most of the tables in the courtyard were filled with people eating and drinking and enjoying the entertainment. Tiffany talked to us about how the business has evolved into what it is today to make it possible to remain viable even in the winter months when a bike shop isn't in demand. Whomever was working the grill before noon on Saturday February 6th, needs a nice long talk, not be fired but maybe reeducation in cooking the one food we all learned how to make ourselves when we were 5 years old. A small hipster style bike shop with a cafe that serves coffee, smoothies, milkshakes as well as beer and a limited selection of food. It's good but pricy. The service was good as the staff seemed to be friendly and helpful. The drinks dominate the menu, I tried a "Bumble Buzz" which is espresso drink with bourbon honey, which did not honestly taste any different than a normal cappuccino. All the honey I think must have settled because I did not taste any honey until I had almost was done. I also tried a Chocolate milkshake which was amazing. Good balanced flavor as well a perfect consistency. The food was good but a bit pricy for what they give you. The grilled cheese is unique and tasty but again the portion is pretty small for the price. I also tried the BLT which seems to be a little skimpy on the bacon, especially for 8$. The chips and salsa were very good and tasted similar to Chipolte except with a more interesting salsa. Overall the limited food they offer is good quality and a great taste but the value you get is pretty low. They do have weekly live music in a common area outside the business. And would be a fun place to stop by and have a drink, but not really a place I would go if I was looking to satisfy my hunger. read more

Wow! Walked down to try something a little new & different from my normal out to eat. We both ordered the BLT Wrap. It has bacon, tomato, spinach, sriracha mayo in a wrap, then wrapped up & finished on a panini press. IT WAS AMAZING!!! It came with tortilla chips & a tomatillo salsa. We also ordered some hummus & "landlocked Ceviche" made with cauliflower & other garden goodness. Go give it a shot! It's worth the trip. WE WILL BE BACK!! read more

I only had one chance to eat there and had a solidly 3/5 star experience. However, only going once I don't feel it would be fair to give it 3 stars. I ordered a latte with almond milk with a veggie wrap and two sides. After tip it came out to just over $20. Latte - it came in a gorgeous mug with a perfect layer of foam. The actual coffee was super gritty with almond bits. I sipped down half before giving up. I drink keurig coffee so it isn't like I'm a coffee snob. I just got tired of chewing my drink. The wrap - Nothing negative to say but very typical and not a remarkable wrap for $8 bean side - the names escape me but one was a bean-based thing that arrived in a blazing hot bowl and was completely ice-cold in the center. If someone had even taken the time to stir it halfway through microwaving it, it would have been palatable although the flavor was still lacking. hummus and tortilla chips - For $3 I was surprised it was a handful of tortilla chips and a small to go container of hummus (maybe 2.5-3 TB). The hummus was a bit garlicky and I would have preferred a more traditional chip like a pita to make it feel like a better deal. My main reason for going was to try the cauliflower "ceviche" heavily featured on the online menu but it was no where to be seen on their wall. Overall, it was my most lackluster meal in Lexington but I really liked the vibe and would give it another shot if I was a local. The vibe of this place is 5 star townie awesome. I loved looking at the community board and getting a sense for the activities available and values of the business. read more

This is my favorite coffee shop serving food in town. They serve Magic Beans coffee, a local roaster, and many of their food dishes are made with locally grown ingredients. They have the best chai latte in Lexington. They do serve beer and have a nice (albeit small) brunch selection on Sunday. Good place to get coffee, lunch, and catch up with a friend. read more

Good menu, the BLT along with the Grilled Cheese (mozerilla) sandwiches are my favourite and on weekends, they have a brunch menu. But the best menu item is their chips and salsa, the salsa is a crisp, fresh tomatillo salsa. Good coffee menu and also serve beer. This place was nice! My friend and I went swimming beforehand and we're looking for an affordable place to eat before going back to Louisville. I got a sandwich and my friend got a banana waffle. I tried both and was super pleased. They had a carrot habenero sauce and that made the sandwich go to legendary status. My wife has been watching this little shop develop on her daily commutes to work and couldn't wait to go once they finally opened. We stopped by for a late lunch and found only a few choices, but they were definitely good ones. I ordered the Chorizo and Sirloin Chili. This is definitely some mean chili - black, pinto, and kidney beans, corn, slices of chorizo, crumbles of sirloin, meaty spicy goodness throughout. Covered with diced fresh onion and cheese... This might just be my ideal chili. My wife ordered their grilled cheese which, honestly, was just heavenly. I don't know what they put in there, but I can only hope to try to recreate that sweet fluffy crispy goodness. Their beverage choices are crazy... A huge variety of coffee, teas, and mostly local beers. They even offered me a sample of Cidergeist when I expressed interest - I'm usually crazy for Apple anything. We'd have to agree with all the 5 star ratings!! Every detail has been considered in opening this awesome bike and coffee shop which is located off the beaten track. You have to stop if you're ever traveling through the Lexington area. We ordered the grilled cheese, lavender vanilla latte and bourbon buzz cappuccino and were thrown off our bike seats by the amazing flavors! Yet another awesome Official Yelp Event OYE put on by Heather and the great folks at Broomwagon. This is a bike shop and coffee shop and beer joint. It is a really neat concept and idea. I have stopped in here before for an adult root beer float but not much since. The parking here is just street parking and limited. I guess its better to ride your bikes to here. We started out the event by having Tiffany explained their way of thinking when coming up with this unique shop concept. It is located on the corner of Loudon and North Limestone right on the corner. They are in a perfect location to service local bike commuters. Inside the cafe and beer joint side is a bit cramped, but its all good. They have a great shared outdoor space on past them on N Limestone. They support local music and entertainment. I love that. Monday night here is bluegrass/folk/jam session . How cool is that? Not many places offer that at all. I love bluegrass pickin and grinning. They also do open mic night and other fun things. They provided us with lots of snacks and sandwich options and a hand made drink. I had a yummy cold brew with honey. YUM. I also had to buy a cookie. It was almost the size of my head. Yeah a cookie the size of my big ol head. I had to get one. It was chewy and tasty. I will stop back in here again when i am in the area. Great time. Great food. Great people.
