Once again, went here during my vacation in Canada during July. I heard Montreal was known for…read moretheir bagels, so why not try it out. This location didn't have any seating which sucks cause it meant I had to eat elsewhere, but honestly not the biggest deal. It was a decently small place, had fridges on the right with stuff for your bagel, merchandise on the left, and in the front, the bagels and the area where they make the bagels. The workers are know their stuff and are quick to work with. Usually, when I ask whether something has egg, they have to go ask someone else, but everyone here knew exactly what was in their bagels. They told me which bagels didn't have egg, and they told me whole wheat (I think, it's been a while), and pumpernickel. Do with that what you will. One of the employees actually told me after that they've always wondered how allergies to food works. I told him how and then he proceeded to tell me how he wish he was allergic to eggs so he could be skinnier. This man just made this a five star review. My bagel tasted great honestly. It was nice and sweet, wasn't a small bagel, and was almost pre-cut. This satisfied my bagel expectations. Definitely a nice place to stop by and get a bagel. It wasn't too expensive and service is great and quick. Go try a bagel bro.

Well, I had to find out for myself. The two bagels are very different. I may sound bias but the New York bagel is definitely better. That's not to say I didn't like the Montreal bagel, they're just not the same. The Montreal bagel tastes almost denser. We had the spicy everything bagel which is a first for me and a sesame bagel. Again, good. But I come from the home of bagels so it wasn't anything for me to write home about.

I'm a huge fan of Somebody Feed Phil, and after watching Phil rave about St-Viateur Bagel Café--and…read moreeven do his signature happy dance over the bagels--I knew I had to try it for myself. I've eaten bagels my entire life and honestly never thought they were anything that special. But when we had the chance to visit Montreal, this was one of the first places on our list. When we arrived, there was a long line, and we waited about 35 minutes. Normally, that would make me question whether it's worth it, but this time it absolutely was. I ordered the smoked salmon with fig jam on an everything bagel, and it was incredible. The bagel was perfectly fresh, with a chewy interior and just the right amount of crispness on the outside. Combined with the smoked salmon and the sweetness of the fig jam, it was one of the best bagel sandwiches I've ever had. I rarely say this, but it was 100% worth the wait. My only disappointment is that I didn't have enough time to try their famous competitor so I could compare the two. I guess that just gives me another reason to come back to Montreal!

When it comes to Montreal bagels, St-Viateur and Fairmount are the two big players. St-Viateur has…read moretwo locations - their OG one and this one in the middle of Avenue du Mont-Royal. They have one line if you're looking to just get bagels to take away and a second line if you want sandwiches or bagels with anything on them. We wanted bagel sandwiches, so we waited in the second line. We were told that it would be about a 30 minute wait, but I think it was shorter than that. In the summer, they have plenty of seating inside and outside. I got the traditionelle (smoked salmon) on a sesame bagel (again, very traditional). They loaded it with so much cream cheese that it was seeping out of the bagel hole, which is too much cream cheese IMO. Additionally, the bagel didn't seem as dense or as sweet as I was expecting from a Montreal bagel. Now, don't get me wrong, this is a good bagel and given St-Viateur's role in the Montreal bagel history, you should get an SV bagel while visiting. But given their history and reputation, I was a little disappointed.

My daughters wanted to get ready in a leisurely fashion for Day 2 of Osheaga, where they wanted to…read moreensure they looked perfect for seeing Tate McRae later in the day. What's a semi-bored dad to do while on vacation and staying in a hotel in the relative middle of nowhere? I decided to take a bus over to Oze Bagel, as it was the nearest bagel place to our hotel and Google had indicated that it would be open. Only I happened to arrive at 12:45 pm on a Saturday, only to find a sign that said "Closed, will re-open at 1:30." I made the most of my time on the Boulevard Tascherau and ultimately ended up getting a haircut at the salon next door. By the time my hair was fully coiffed, Oze Bagel had re-opened. I was the first person in line, and by the time I could purchase the bagels 5 minutes later, a line of at least 15 people snaked behind me. The bakery itself was a treat - the bakery is fully exposed, and feels like the kind of bagel bakery my grandparents would have enjoyed in their youth - you can see the the pot of boiling water in which the bagels are boiled. and the cavernous wood fired oven in which they are baked. I purchased a dozen sesame bagels, largely because they were the only bagels available. And these were the hottest bagels I've ever held. I wouldn't cross the river solely for the experience of procuring bagels from here, especially since there are lots of other great bagels in the city. But this was a fun surprise on an otherwise mundane morning.

I recently discovered this place thanks to my wonderful husband.. can't believe he kept this secret from me for so long. I wanted some fresh delicious challah bread/ rolls so he suggested Yagel Bagel.. so I was in agreement and told him to get us there asap. Ambiance: As soon as we arrived, they had about 10 reserved parking spots just for us customers which I found super thoughtful and excellent. We walked in and to my surprise a blast of fresh scent of oven baked bread just hit me and I was blinded with the delicious scent of fresh baked goodies. It was oh so heavenly! Service: super friendly and quick! They make you pick a number at the front door and you wait your turn to get served. It's always busy but the staff is Fast and super attentive. They make sure to get you everything you want in a jiffy. They are always there to please and make you happy after every visit. Product: Wholesome and delicious.. I am amazed of the freshness. This bakery makes amazing homemade bread.. however, their name suggest they are a bagel shop but they don't make it in-house.. they re-sell St-Viateur and Fairmount bagels ahaha it's alright I totally prefer they're amazing Challah rolls anyway.. something about them makes me go back here all the time.
