Apparently, it is not so easy to get a copy of a key made these days, especially depending on the manufacturer and size of the key. I first tried the kiosk at Walmart with no success, and then tried Home Depot where I spoke to a person who told me that only a locksmith could do the key I had. A nice lady took care of me at Brothers and made the keys I needed. I was very very happy. Just be careful driving on the side street there as it's a two-way street with cars parked on both sides, and thus very narrow. read more

The man who came to my house to rekey my locks was an awful man. I tried to explain to him that his man had done this a few weeks back and he said it wasn't his man and I probably used some other company. I told him his guy had given me four keys. He said no he didn't. He gave you this one. But the one he held up was my old key which was on my key ring. It was from my front door. He said not so. To make a long story short, this person yelled loudly at me and refused to do the work. He kept interrupting every time I tried to explain and yelled over me. Not a nice person to deal with. I couldn't figure out why my old front door key fit the back door. But I guess the previous guy took the lock from my front door and used it for the back door to make things more simple and just keyed all the locks the same in the back. He gave me two gold keys for the front door and two gold keys for the back door. My two for the back were lost or stolen which was why I was having them done again. When he wanted to take my key back to his shop, I wouldn't let him because I said that it wasn't his, it was mine. He threw things around and into his bag and told me to find someone else to do my locks. Slammed my door and left. No one should be treated like this, especially if you're a paying customer. read more

Love love this business! I went there last Friday to cut a car key blank with an embedded chip as well as fix another car key (made at a box store) that somehow only worked on the ignition but not at the door. It was successful on both accounts. The knowledgeable lady was smart and tested a sample key (one without a chip) first before cutting my chip-embedded blank. Her sample key worked but my key blank was slightly longer and did not initially work. She then carefully grind off the extra and made the duplicate key work. Then, she did the same magic with my other car key and let me use her WD-40 to lubricate my lock. Both keys worked flawlessly now! Thank you! I went in several weeks ago to get two keys copied--a normal-looking double sided key and a cylindrical key. Both were copied and I paid the (what I think to be) excessive charge of 9 dollars total. At the time, I noticed the double sided key was not the same on both sides, but I when I checked if it worked, it did. At the time I did not realize that the key did not smoothly operate the tumbler, while the original did, and it became very annoying when using the copy as the lock needs to be turned several times to come unlocked and then several times again to lock. I decided I would revert to the original key and go to the locksmith with the lock, and both keys to get it remade when I was nearby. I finally made it over today, and the person assisting customers seemed in a hurry to close up shop as it was nearing their closing time of 12 noon (a bit early, isn't it?). I present my problem, stating only that the key that they made is not smooth. The man takes the key and lock, doesn't bother to ask any questions and proceeds to spray WD-40 into the lock. I insist it doesn't need lubrication because the original key works well, which he still avoids testing and tells me "the key works." Yes, I already knew that, and I didn't say it didn't. Had he listened to the customer, he'd have understood the dissatisfaction. He proceeds to ask me "how much I want it to be" and I ask him to try the original. He does, then repeats his statement of the copy working and not knowing how smooth I want it to be. At this point I'm fed up, ask for my stuff back, say a polite "thank you" and leave. I won't go back there unless I'm in a jam, though at 8-12 noon, I'm sure my options are not very limited. read more

I closed on my new home yesterday. Benny from Brothers came out within hours of my closing. I had purchased a complicated Samsung lock and the Schlag Camelot lock. These were complicated locks, one of which was brand new on the market. Benny researched the new lock, and carefully took his time to properly install the lock. He was polite, neat and extraordinarily competent. He did a great job for us and made it clear we could call him if we had any follow-up questions or concerns. read more

I called early Monday morning because I could not remove a door knob --(before you judge the door knob in question had no screws and seemingly no way to remove it) so I called Brothers Lock & Safe and the woman who answered the phone at first seemed to not want to send anyone out to my house to help--which confused me at first, then I realized what she was trying to do was to walk me through it so I would not be charged a house call and I couold simply bring the knob in to be rekeyed. However I was unable to remove it despite her precise directions so someone did come out and in about 10-15 minutes had the problem resolved. Quick, professional and done right. They even gave us extra keys. The charge was $85.00 which I guess in not excessive in this day and age for a house call. read more
