Having used Close Brothers in the past when I've had issues with my garage door, I called them again when a new issue arose. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The customer service rep was friendly and told me she could have someone come out that day. She later called back to say that someone would be coming out tomorrow instead[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. When "someone" arrived the following day, I was shocked that he was not an employee of Close Brothers, but actually a guy who owns a garage door repair business about an hour from here in NY who they had outsourced the job to. This repairman charged his own prices, (which I still don't know how honest they were) and when it came time to pay, the money went straight to his own NY based company. If I wanted to hire someone other than Close Brothers to do the job, I would have hired someone other than Close Brothers! [[HIGHLIGHT]]I have now attempted to call Close Brothers five times to express my disappointment that they weren't the ones who actually repaired my garage doors and each time it is the strangest interaction.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I say that I specifically want to speak to the owner or manager of Close Brothers, the first two times they connected me to the repairman who came to my house.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The next three times they tell me "Ok, we will let him know. Stay by your phone and expect a call within 10 minutes". No matter how many times I've followed up, I have still never received a call[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. My best guess is that someone bought the rights to the name or perhaps it is being used as a shell company? I was unknowingly pawned off to a subcontractor who was unprofessional and improperly installed our openers. We are now having to have another company fix the issues at an additional expense. Brothers overhead seems to be no more than a broker that simply sub contracts to others. When I tried to contact them I could not speak to a manager or owner and was then directed back to the subcontractor repeately. I am left with no other resolution than to write this so that others do not suffer the same frustraton and losses. read more

[[HIGHLIGHT]]I had a frustrating experience with Close Brother Overhead.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I have two garage doors; one worked well, while the other had issues opening and closing properly. Eric and his assistant came to fix the problematic opener. Initially, they suggested that a single screw would solve the problem. However, after putting in the screw, the opener stopped working altogether. They then recommended replacing the entire opener, which I agreed to. For the other door, which was functioning fine, they offered a remote control because there was a remote control sensor on the ceiling, and I went along with it--only to later find out from my neighbor that having a garage door without a safety sensor should not include a remote for safety reasons. Eric also suggested changing the belt, noticing some wear. I agreed, and they replaced it and lubricated everything before leaving. However, shortly after they left, the door opened by itself, and the opener malfunctioned, producing smoke and damaging the new belt! I had to unplug it to stop the crazy working opener. When I called Eric back, they returned and claimed the opener was old (from the 60s or 70s) and at the end of its life. This was surprising since it had been working fine for the past 10 years since I bought the house. My neighbor has a similar opener from the same era that still works without issues. Now I'm starting to doubt if the other opener they replaced needed to be replaced at all, as it's only 20 years old. I can't shake the feeling that Eric is playing tricks to earn more money. He kept asking me if I planned to rent out the house, which seemed irrelevant to his work--was he going to charge more because it's a rental? I got his information from a neighbor chat group that had good comments about him, but I'll be more cautious moving forward. He better watch out; I have access to thousands of residents in the Millburn/Short Hills area, we use chat app to share good or bad contractors - I've lived in the area for 10 years. Overall, I wouldn't recommend their services based on my experience. read more

Close brothers are the absolute best. The spring on my garage door broke during the Christmas season and close doors didn't hesitate to come right after Christmas. The price was fantastic especially since I just finished spending money during the holiday. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was informed that my garage opener was very old and needed to be replaced soon.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I waited a few years and [[HIGHLIGHT]]when I called them to come and replace it, not only did he fit me into his schedule but gave me his recommendation on what else I needed to do for my garage.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] He changed the garage door opener and keypad. He also changed my used rollers at no extra charge. Again the price was great and he allowed me to pay him a few days later. My garage door parts and motor were replaced by Karl on 4/25/2021 and I was billed and paid for these services. However Karl only replace 1 spring/ 1 cable. So that they were different sizes and made my garage door unleveled. 435 day later I have a broken spring. and a new appointment NOT with Karl to replace Both springs. We didn't know that the spring cables of our garage broke, so for a while the garage was opening and closing on just the motor... so the garage door broke into 2 separate pieces. Close Brothers were the second company we consulted after the first said that we probably need to replace the door and whole entire system. Just had a repair and tune-up performed on 20 year old garage doors. I had called because one door did not seem to work at all. When they arrived promptly for the service-call the door worked! Rather than say, "Looks like everything's fine!" they took apart every component to see if something intermittent was causing the failure. When it comes to service and old fashioned courtesy , the close brothers really know how to treat their customers. They are professional and work around your schedule and also make sure you are satisfied with their work before they leave , unlike most companies. I have used them from my first garage door to the present day. If I have a question they normally walk me through it on the phone instead of charging me every time I need a slight adjustment. If they ever service your door and something malfunctions to where I need them to visit , they do not charge me for the service.
