It was not a rush request, I could manage. but, he had one of his guys scheduled for Friday. David stopped by and he was great. He needed some parts, told what was wrong, gave me a locked-in price. From the…read moreconsultation to a post-installation call, Oren and his crew were the definition of professionalism. HIRE THESE GUYS. Oren is articulate, collaborative, and transparent. Booking a consultation was easy and he took the time to explain everything from materials to costs to timelines. The new garage doors are a near-perfect match to the existing paint job (hunter green, see accompanying pictures). We ended up needing to replace the garage roof and the frame, which Door Tech also took care of (they're not just limited to doors!). Fast forward to the day of the roof replacement / door installation and we discover a rotting post with termites. Oren is on-site, immediately communicates the issue, and provides a clear solution. Bonus: Oren and his crew did all of the above in ONE day, which is incredible especially if you've ever done any home renovation work of any kind. Bonus #2: you forgot something after the installation and call Oren in a panic? The guy turns around a quarter to 8 pm on his way home and comes right back to address it. Thank you, Oren and team. I recently had Raydoor sliding doors installed. I love them! They turned out better than even I…read morehoped. Lila at Raydoor helped me make my selections. I have a studio apartment with an alcove, and wanted three sliding doors that could stack against the outer "wingwall" and then be pulled across the alcove to close off the space. My walls are white, and I wanted them to blend in, so I chose Sierra White with gloss white inserts. They are solid, and very well made, and truly add a beautiful architectural element to my apartment. In NYC, it's often hard to find a contractor to do minor renovations, so I was very happy that Raydoor has an "inhouse" contractor that can do the work, and that the contractor brought the doors right into to my apartment. Some sliding door places only have curbside delivery, which doesn't work for NYC. In NYC, you must get a permit from the Dept of Buildings for sliding doors as well as approval from co-op boards, so that made the entire process longer and more expensive, but Lila said I didn't need to sign the contract until I had the permit and approval in place. I really appreciated that. The installation of the doors themselves took 2 days. I'm so happy with my apartment now. And it's now considered a junior one bedroom, rather than a studio apartment, so for resell I imagine it will easily offset the cost of the doors.

The flexibility is awesome. Raydoor did an excellent job from the very first interaction after I filled out their online form, to the completion of the project and working with their recommended contractor for the installation. Lila from Raydoor was great to work with and really made the entire process very easy and stress-free. The custom door system was completed and ready for installation in exactly the original timeframe they gave, and everything was correct, looks good, and has worked perfectly. After looking at a lot of possible solutions for my bedroom wall (including completely custom built stuff similar to Raydoor products), Raydoor offered the sweet spot of a customizable system at a fair price that doesn't take tons of planning/time/effort/coordination to get installed and built. That's a problem I was running into with other options. I'd certainly buy a Raydoor product again. I've had my sliding wall system for about a year, and so far it's held up great. Looking forward to getting many more years of use out of it and the value it's added to my apartment.

I'll preface this in that for being a lock smith they have odd business hours. Meaning, I'm not…read moreentirely sure when they're open. I feel like they close fairly early. So don't expect it to be past 5-6pm. And they are INSANELY expensive. I want to chalk it up and say its just Manhattan. I need to expect this. But I don't think I've ever spent more than $2-3 per key on keys before in my life up until this point. Here, they charge you or at least they charged me $10 a key. Plus tax and a surcharge for using credit. So I paid about $34 to have a set of keys copied. I've also had to do this as an emergency more than once because there are no other lock smiths nearby and it just simply needed to get done. So I guess it gets stars for the convenience that it's simply here.

But the job they did deserves recognition. Among the many people worth a shout-out: designer Chaya Uzan whose enthusiasm and ideas gave us a sense that our project was quite special; and Robbie Goldberg, our day-to-day contact and project manager, who brought a craftsman's eye to all aspects of the job. When problems were encountered, problems were fixed. An example: once we installed a new oven in the kitchen we realized that we would have to do without a favorite built-in spice cabinet. Robbie came up with ingenious fix requiring some custom carpentry so that the spice rack did not disappear but became an integral of the whole. Anthony, our renovation expert, was our first contact with A to Z. He encouraged us not to give up on what we wanted the project to look like even though other renovators had told us it was impossible to do. He also offered to answer any questions we might have along the way. Then there's Shevy, the permit and insurance coordinator. She dealt with the necessary paperwork and kept the inspectors at bay so we did not have to deal with those headaches. And last but not least, Mario, the site manager, who was there every day, hands-on, always professional and pleasant. On that note, the entire team seemed to like one another and treated us and each other with a refreshing degree of decency and consideration. To summarize: The team at ATOZ was thoroughly professional and kept us informed with clear, consistent communication every step of the way.
