Booked a Tuesday appointment for a back facial, because I've been searching everywhere for one in the East Bay and I was so excited when I found her website listing one for $120 for 60 minutes! Booked through the website, Paid my deposit and everything and was super excited for the experience. The description is: "Treat your back to a luxurious Back Facial that improves elasticity, hydration, and texture while stimulating collagen production for firmer, more youthful skin. With deep cleansing, exfoliation, and nourishing masks, this rejuvenating treatment revitalizes dry or uneven skin on your back, leaving it smoother and brighter." Got the confirmation text and email and confirmed everything. When I got there, Jenny very kindly informed me that she actually no longer does the back facials, she only does face facials now. I was definitely disappointed, but I had already driven there and had the day off, so I opted for the 10 step Korean facial instead ($199 before tip). She said that she was currently doing an offer for $199 instead of $300+, so I figured why not. This one is 90 minutes instead of 60 minutes. If it's your first time coming, I would recommend getting there 5 mins ish before your appointment so you can park and find the entrance to her room - there's a lot of other businesses here so I did have to take a lap to find the right door in the hallway. Pros: The whole facial experience was actually pretty great - the whole place is clean, easy parking out front. And it's very involved, in a good way. it includes massage to the face, shoulder, neck, arms, as well as all the regular facial stuff like extractions and a mask. She also uses the Plasonic machine (which can feel hot like it's burn/zapping your skin) but you can tell her if it feels too hot and she'll change the settings. She got rid of my blackheads with an ultrasonic skin scrubber and extracted all my whiteheads. There's also red light therapy. The studio is super clean, and Jenny is super sweet and nice, definitely easy to trust the Korean lady. I definitely would not mind coming back for another facial - I left there with my skin feeling super soft, she gave me some skincare tips, and it's a great location if you live in Castro Valley or San Leandro. I would definitely recommend wearing comfortable and thinner pants, because it gets pretty hot in the room with all the treatments. My highest praise would include that the extraction part wasn't as painful as other facials I've had, and the shoulder/neck/arm massage was surprisingly really helpful in relieving some pain I had from work! Cons: - I think it was really hard for me to give a 5, since I feel like I fell for false advertising thinking I was coming for a back facial. Things worked out in the end and I was due for a facial anyway - but I would have done some things differently (like not washed my hair beforehand, since it got a lot oilier after the scalp massage) if I had known I wasn't getting the back facial. Her service is great and I would highly recommend her for facials - and it sounds like her microblading is well appreciated too - but just be aware there are NO back facials here. read more

Jenny is great! Got my eyebrows microbladed with her. I love the shape and I've gotten many compliments regarding my brows. It does start a bit dark, but it's now faded to a very natural shade. It is a bit painful so I recommend going off-period times to minimize pain and bleeding. Her place is super clean and zen and she even provides eyebrow visors for after, so when you shower it doesn't get wet. I went back to her to do the Korean 12-step facial and my skin is already looking much more plump. I debated writing this but I thought I should be honest about my experience so that others don't go through this as well. I would not recommend this place for permanent eyeliner. I asked for just a slight tail but Jenny struggled to draw it in a way that was balanced on both sides, then after an hour of trying multiple times , basically gave up and told me that she was unable to do anything but a thin lash line. I left not only without the eyeliner done, but also just really frustrated with the lack of communication. If she was only able to do one super basic style of eyeliner, then she should've told me this from the beginning rather than wasting everyone's time. I truly don't think I was asking for anything complicated, so was utterly confused and disappointed by the entire experience. Maybe it was a language barrier issue, but whatever happened, it's something to consider if you're looking for permanent eyeliner! read more

Thinking about getting your eyebrows microbladed? Do it!!! I didn't realize how important brows were until my mid 20's when people started saying "brows on fleek!" I got mine done for the first time by Jenny and I absolutely love them. Each session takes about two hours. She starts by carefully drawing in the brow shape. Once you confirm that you are good with the shape, she adds numbing cream. After 25 minutes, she hands you a stress ball to squeeze and says, "no pain, no gain" and starts cutting the strokes using the blade. Then she puts the pigment into the newly cut strokes. After waiting for the pigment to set, she wipes it off, and repeats the process one more time. After 6 weeks, you would have to go back for a touch-up session and repeat the whole process. To be honest, it was pretty painful, but the actual cutting part is quick. I also heard that you're more sensitive on your menstrual cycle and that was the case for me for both sessions. Jenny did say that I could take two pieces of tylenol an hour prior, but I don't ever take any type of medication, so I just braved it. The first session wasn't bad. The touch-up session was more painful (I'm guessing because it's opening up the previous cuts). Jenny said to listen to heavy metal to drown out the cutting sounds, haha, so make sure to bring earphones if you don't want to hear them. She's so funny and sweet and made me feel very comfortable and cozy throughout the whole experience. For after care, make sure to use aquaphor to help with the healing process. You can't get your brows wet for at least a week, so that means no exercising. When you shower, you can use the clear face masks she provides. For a few weeks, your brows will peel, but make sure not to pick at them. My new brows make such a big difference. I previously had pretty light brows, which made me look younger than I actually am. I know people want to look younger, but I don't want to look like I'm in high school anymore!! I'm almost 30 lol. Although I love my brows, I do have two things to add. One is that I learned that I like my brows slightly thinner and with a more arched shape. When Jenny showed me the brow outline she drew before getting started, it looked good at the time, so it was difficult to tell. I'm sure it was also due to how my original brows are as well, but next time I know what to ask for. Also for the touch-up session, the inner corners of my brows don't really match. I did notice, but I failed to speak up at the time, because I'm the type that would feel bad to do so. I did text her afterwards and she said to wait until my brows are healed and that she would fix it if needed. Now that my brows are healed, I do notice that the inner corner of my right brow isn't as clean as the left brow. Because it's not super noticeable to others or in photos (as it is for myself), I'm considering just leaving it as is. Regardless, I am very happy with my first microblading experience done with Jenny. She is amazing and I would definitely recommend her to others! read more

I had been contemplating getting my brows done because I was tired of having to fill them in everyday. I did a lot of research, and after reading all the rave reviews about Jenny at Brow and Beauty Lab, I worked up the courage to book an appt. I must say I was very disappointed with the end result. While she did take the time to make sure that the drawing and shape was what I wanted, the end result DID NOT reflect the shape or design. I was so disappointed after the first appointment as my brows were so uneven (as you can see from the first picture). This was 6 weeks after so it was fully healed. I sent Jenny a picture and advised that I was not happy with the result. She assured me that she'll fix everything at the touch up appointment. So, I waited until after the second appointment before leaving this review. For someone who claims to have been doing this for over 20 years, she DID NOT know what she was doing. An expert would have been able to tell that the brows were not even. She tried to "fix it" during the touch up session, but was not successful. I am now stuck with these lopsided brows. I was thoroughly impressed by her honesty and genuine concern for her clients as she advised against the specific style I wanted, explaining that because I'm older, my eyes will naturally droop, and the eyeliner could take on an undesirable shape as I age. Her recommendation was based on thoughtful consideration of my long-term satisfaction and all from good intentions, which I found incredibly refreshing instead of doing it just to get more money out of you. PRICE: For $400, you get two appointments: the initial appointment which includes the consultation and the follow-up appointment (6 weeks after). AMBIANCE/CLEANLINESS: The outside of the building is old but the office inside is cute and very clean. I felt very safe going to my appointments as it was just Jenny inside the office or one other gentleman. Before the treatment, Jenny would show you the sealed blade and inform you that she will use it only once. Jenny wears a mask the whole time and washes her hand after doing something. During the entire stay, she plays spa music which is very relaxing. You also get a blanket to cover your feet which is very nice. SERVICE: Jenny spends a good amount of time drawing in your eyebrow shape according to your preference (default would be to follow your natural shape) and makes sure you approves of it before moving forward. She also makes great suggestions for color and shape of you're a newbie to the eyebrow game like me. After your shape and color is confirmed, she puts on the numbing cream and mixes your color during the waiting period. After about 20-30 minutes, she hands you a stress ball, tells you "Beauty is pain. No pain, no gain", and starts cutting away. You go through this process twice for each appointment. Not going to lie, it does hurt even after taking two Tylenol 1 hour before my appointment as instructed. My eyebrows were on fire during the 2nd round of my first appointment but the 2nd appointment wasn't as bad. Before you leave, Jenny will hand you a bag with the care instruction, some snacks, hand sanitizer, and a bunch of waterproof face shield to cover your eyebrows while you shower. HEALING PROCESS: After my first appointment, I put on a lot of Aquaphor on my eybrows 3-5 times a day for 10 days (Jenny only recommends 5 but I did it longer based on my research). I didn't get my eyebrows wet for those 10 days and was lucky to not experience any scabbing or swelling. I'm hoping it will be the same this time around after my follow-up appointment last Saturday. OUTCOME: After both appointments, I always left loving the results. I have received numerous compliments and love how I don't have to fill in my eyebrows anymore!
