Recently my husband needed an implant, we had other opinions and were told that they could do it…read more Dr. Dalal recommended he have a 3DCT because he explained that the the panorex doesn't alsways show everything correctly and on the current pano it looked like it could be done but he wanted to make sure. However the 3DCT showed that only a 6 mm implant could possibly be done but Dr. Dalal explained that this was on a 2nd molar and 6 mm would not be recommended with my husbands grinding and strong bite, he said it would not last very long due to this. The 3DCT showed that the mandibular nerve was in such a placement that any other size implant would be impossible as it would surely hit the nerve and then could cause paralysis of his lower jaw. I'm glad he pushed for further test as I can't even imagine if someone tried to place an implant without doing the CT. Dr. Dalal took his time explaining everything in great detail which we are very grateful for. Disappointing that he can't get a tooth put in where he lost one but super glad that we came for a 3rd opinion, in the end it just wasn't worth the possible trauma of his jaw and we are very grateful to Dr. Dalal.

The dentist isn't most people's favorite place and with all the bad experiences I had prior, I can honestly say now that I don't mind coming and getting anything done because it is now a pleasant experience. They make sure I am fully taken care of and don't feel any pain no matter what they are doing. I truly recommend not only Dr. Carroll but the whole team. I had a consultation with the doctor and made some xrays to figure out how to pursue the issue. The doctor explained the procedure for me and has told me that he would work on the price with me. I originally made the office aware that I will not pay the full price upfront and I would make the monthly payments. When the doctor started to work on my tooth the first time he didnt explain the price to me. When I came to check out the price was $1600 and I asked them for a break down , which I never received . I also asked them what was the amount of discount applied as prior conversation. I also asked to send me the bill and give me a date when I should make the payments. Which of course was never received or discussed. They made me a second appointment to exchange the temporarily crown with a permanent in a week. When I came there a week later they have told me that they would do another temporarily one before they can do a permanent. ( Didnt make sense to me why they would do that and change what they stated previously. ) The day when I came for my permanent crown I made a payment and then I was told that they want a third of a payment at least in order to perform my service. This has never happened to me in such an unprofessional manner. I ve told the lady upfront that I will make another payment within two weeks and I need to get the permanent crown done. She told me that there is nothing they can do . What kind of a medical professional performs half the service????

The last dentist, my youngest daughter went to was a quack after taking multiple x rays and charging me an arm and a leg only stated that she had cavities, and they had to be dealt with. When she went to Dr Mezcua she as well took x-rays, and then gave us the bad news that my daughter had a tumor in her jaw that had diminish her jawbone and that had to be taken care of immediately ,sending her to a specialist in reconstruction. I went to the prior dentist, and asked for the last X Ray that they had done, and there it was the tumor it was smaller and she still had most of her jaw intact . This doctor could have saved my daughter, pain and suffering. So early but never payed attention and did not detected it.Dr. Mercury literally saved my daughter's jaw. So if you want a doctor that pays attention to details and knows what she's doing. This is the doctor for you, also her prices are reasonable, no scam just sincerely cares about her patience. They were always professional, thorough, and made me feel comfortable during every visit. That's why I remained a loyal patient for more than six years. Unfortunately, my recent interactions with the front office completely changed my opinion. After losing my job at Spirit Airlines on May 2, I received a voicemail from the office on May 4 regarding my upcoming June appointment. The voicemail specifically mentioned that I was no longer with Spirit Airlines and asked what I planned to do since I no longer had dental insurance through my employer. While I understand that insurance verification is part of running a practice, I was surprised to receive that call so far in advance of my appointment, and I felt the message lacked empathy given how recently I had lost my job. I returned the call, canceled my June appointment until I could obtain new dental insurance, and later enrolled in a Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO plan through the Marketplace. Once my new coverage became effective, I confirmed directly with my insurance company that my policy had no waiting period, that Dr. Cunningham participates in the DentiMax network, and that Oakland Park Dental was in network. When I called the office on July 6, I spoke with Ung. I explained that I wasn't sure whether my plan was a PPO or HMO and offered my member ID number. Instead of helping verify my coverage, he compared it to someone calling Spirit Airlines and simply giving an employee number, which I found to be an unnecessary and unprofessional comparison. He also told me not to call back unless my plan was a PPO. I contacted my insurance company myself, confirmed that my plan was a PPO, that there was no waiting period, and that the office was in network. When I called back, Ung told me the office had a provider phone number they could use to verify my benefits directly. That left me wondering why I had been instructed to contact my insurance company in the first place if the office could verify the information themselves. After speaking with my insurance company, Ung called me back and said the only information they had provided was that I had active coverage and no waiting period. He then asked me what my dental benefits were. I found that confusing, as I've never had a dental or medical office ask me to explain my own insurance benefits after they had already verified my coverage with the insurance company. It left me feeling as though I was doing the office's job rather than being assisted as a patient. When Ung called me back, he greeted me by saying, "Marsha, Marsha, Marsha." While it may have been intended as a joke, I didn't find it appropriate or professional given the circumstances. It's unfortunate that after more than six years as a loyal patient, my final experience was overshadowed by the front office--specifically my interactions with Ung. When is it ever appropriate for a front desk person to scold you for not coming in BEFORE your visit to provide new insurance information or for any reason really? I told him so but he continued to argue with me making me even more upset. I came for my scheduled cleaning and exam. I had the same dental insurance for over 2 years, had to weather the 6 months waiting period where they paid nothing, meanwhile having to pay over $2000 to replace a bridge out of my pocket during this time, only to find that they will no longer accept this insurance. It was a task to go find another company and I managed to get something but he was angry that he actually had to do some work when I came in. I didn't want to change but I was forced to and now being scolded for doing so. There is now a 12 month waiting period, even more than the previous, AGAIN! No consideration for what the customer had to go through. There was only one other patient there getting a cleaning so not like he was busy. Instead, he scolded me, folded his arms, sat there doing nothing, then got upset when I told him he should do his job and get busy getting that verified. They let me go for the cleaning but would not do the exam even after being a long standing patient with a history of good payment always. However, all he had to do is make one phone call and within 5 minutes it was all cleared up but I still didn't get a checkup because of his laziness and unwillingness to do his job in a timely manner and do what the customer needs. I guess they didn't trust that I would pay them if the insurance didn't come through. Instead of sitting there with folded arms and bitching that he might have to do more work, the task could have been accomplished in that time. Sorry you had to do something other than sit there. The dentist, Dr. Cunningham, is in his office right beside them so has to hear what is transpiring. He seems like he has a burr in his butt, Mr Grumpy, unwilling to explain anything in detail, even seeming angry with more questions, didn't utter more than a few words like I was so dumb and couldn't be more condescending and unpleasant. No smile, not really even a hello, short terse words even though I've know him for 20 years. Why did I stay so long? I will add that he did do some good restoration work and tried to minimize the amount I had to pay. I didn't have a problem with his treatments. He was honest and didn't do things that were unnecessary. However, I am now faced with a 3 yr old bridge that wasn't fitted on the edge properly so now have a cavity in that spot. The bridge will need to be replaced AGAIN. Of note are the hygienists there and his dental assistant. They were super friendly and did a wonderful job. Thanks to Jose, Elvira and the Hispanic woman dental assistant. They were the stars who did their jobs well. They only have office hours M-F and only half day on Fridays so trying to use them over the years meant that I had to give up billable hours as a consultant to go and see them amounting to thousands of lost income for me over the years. They don't even work a 40 hour week nor work any Saturdays or evenings to accommodate a working person's schedule. The office is getting run down looking, broken spring worn out futons in the waiting room to sit on, equipment old, chipped, obsolete. The artwork was very nice and I'm sure it was expensive but it's dated now. It's time for them to retire as I really don't think they are serious about wanting to work or taking care of the customers and are just doing the minimum required. Maybe it's just time to wrap it up there. Not really an interest in what is best for the customer, poor chair side manner, and bad attitudes almost everywhere. They won't have to worry about my issues with insurance any more because I have chosen a new, highly rated and progressive dentist. I was shocked at the difference with my new dentist and the technology they now use. Goodbye, I don't need your bad attitudes and poor customer service anymore. Lots of competition in your area.
