As unpleasant as Brazilian waxes are to have, it is equally as unpleasant to talk about them. However, Kim at Browlick deserves nothing but praise, so I will put that discomfort aside so I can tell you how great she is. My neighbor first recommended Kim to me, and since he is a snob about most things in life, I thought she must be pretty legitimate. He gave me her number and told me she does appointments via text, which I liked because it is a no-hassle method. I texted her and she responded quickly with her availability. Between 4 texts total, I had a date and time confirmed for my appointment. When I arrived, the studio was very clean and homey, so that helped to put me at ease a bit. Then I met Kim, who was immediately very cool but clearly a professional. I was amazed at how quickly she worked, yet how thorough she was. Even though these things are never fun, she had me laughing through the torture. She is very easy to talk to, which is nice since I'm stuck lying there anyways while I'm willingly letting someone inflict pain on me repeatedly...the chit-chat helps pass the time quite nicely. Then when the work is done, she covers the area with a warm towel, which is a nice, soothing touch. Browlick may not be the cheapest waxing studio out there, but you get what you pay for. You don't have to worry about recycled wax, inexperienced hands, or burned skin. If you are interested in doing the Brazilian thing but are still a little hesitant, believe me, I've been there. I thought I had sparse brows and wouldn't have much to take off, but I was wrong! Kim said that I definitely had brows that needed waxing. I had always gotten mine done at whatever hair salon I went to and am now thinking that asian brows might be different like asian hair. I've never given my brows much thought, but I love them! I can't stop looking at them! They now have definition. I have the lightest brows ever and somehow, the way she shaped them makes them look darker, like I actually have eyebrows. They were only red for about a minute, I don't know what she did, but anywhere else I've ever gotten them, my brows have been bright red and blotchy for at least an hour (which meant I could never have plans after an appointment). Kim is a visionary of eyebrows. I came to her because of her other awesome Yelp reviews (thank you, other reviewers!) and despite my thin and round eyebrows, she made them beautiful. I had plucked them into the wrong shape for so many years, and she not only waxed them into a nice shape, she showed me how to fill in the parts I needed to to make my eyebrows look better and more beautiful. I let them grow for a little while, went back, and now my brows are BANGIN'. She is pleasant and fun to talk to, has a chic and comfortable studio for waxing (which is also centrally located and always has good street parking), and is very easy to chat with. She has an excellent aesthetic sense and I would trust her absolutely with other types of waxes. I have long been in search of beauty professionals who are proactive in making you look better. For example, a hairdresser who can just decide what looks good on you and do it, as opposed to asking for *exactly* what you want. Kim knows what looks good and will just do a great job. I think when it comes to Browlick you get what you pay for. It's a little pricey ($25 + tip for brows), but you literally become a more beautiful version of yourself when she does your eyebrows. Worth it! (Also other waxes are totally reasonable, like the $50 Brazilian). Another bonus: she makes appointments by text, which is convenient, and she's prompt and businesslike with confirmations. Browlick is a great wax studio. Kim single-handedly runs her small business with a lot of care, professionalism, and very competitive pricing. Her space is light and airy, lovingly decorated and extremely clean. Kim quickly returned my call, provides convenient text reminders, and was very friendly from the start. Her $50 Brazilian is a great value, and it was the best one I've had in a few years. She also did a great job on my brows. Both procedures were speedy, with minimal pain, clean and efficient. No messy strays, no sloppy wax, etc. Kim is also very considerate of your comfort - if the temperature is a little warm, if you need some water, have trouble spots or any concerns - she's more than happy to accommodate - just let her know! She really cares about her clients and is super responsive to listening and making it a good experience. Her schedule is flexible, esp for those who need appts after work, 6, 7pm, etc. Browlick is also in a convenient location. Centrally located, but on a quiet street with plenty of parking, near bus lines, as well as Cortona, Medmix and the Neighbor Lady. Kim happily takes credit card payment, with a small $2 fee. Kim's been in the central district for years, and is really committed to her neighborhood. She maintains very reasonable prices so that a wax can remain an affordable part of one's beauty routine. Most of the bigger studios seem to be charging $65+, so I was thrilled when I found a really REALLY high quality brazilian at Browlick for $50. Kim is extremely thorough (i.e. no hair is safe) and professional. She took over 45 minutes on my brazilian making sure that it was perfect. $50 very well spent. Extra plusses: -Parking was no trouble at all - there were plenty of street spaces. -The studio was really clean, nice, and comfortable. -Kim got back to my text almost immediately and scheduled my appointment for the next day. -My appointment started right on time. Do I need to explain the details.... it makes me cringe thinking of what I did.... but then I remember the smile afterwords. I really liked it! I really appreciated Kim's ease in making me okay with my South American trip, and I will be back... already made the next appointment and might even be able to convince the hubby to get those man-brows a bit more contained. My sparse, yet wild eyebrows don't have a chance against Kim's mad skills. They look so good after she works her magic on them. She is able to create shape to them without making them razor thin which previous non-skilled individuals would do to my brows. And, it doesn't even hurt! Saw good reviews about Kim so i decided to give it a go. Located in the CD- there's lots of street parking, but the studio is a little hidden and easy to find if you look for the "Browlick' sign in the doorway. Kim has been doing my eyebrows ever since I read the yelp reviews here (which was almost 3 years ago). Understandably, we were strangers then, but not any more. What Kim does best, is to make sure you have killer eyebrows. This requires you to also put in the effort to match Kim's skills (no tweezing, threading, etc). Some people do not seem to be interested in that, and require instant fixes. Anyway, I am very pleased with her service. I have always been complemented on my eyebrows by my mom ever since Kim started working on them (and my mom is not easy to please!). So thanks Kim! I am usually not the person to post a review, but I am a huge fan of word of mouth and I have been talking about my experience at Browlick to anyone who will listen. I found Browlick as I was in search of my first Brazillian wax for my up coming trip to Miami. I had asked a few friends and no one (surprised) had gotten one done. So I took to the internet in hopes of finding someone I could trust with this venture. Thanks to yelp I found Kim and Browlick. I don't know that there are enough words in the English dictonary that would properly describe Kim and the work she does. I was a tad nervous going in since this was my first Brazillian, but as soon as I walked in the door all my nerves vansished. Kim's studio was immaculate and she greeted me with a smile. We chatted for a moment as she showed me where to put my things. Kim explained the process and kept me talking through the roughly 25 minutes it took to complete. Once she was complete I couldn't believe 1) that the pain wasn't nearly what I would have expected, 2) it was already over (felt like 10 minutes), 3) Kim was so friendly and 4) she did an AMAZING job! In short I am sold on Brazillians and Kim! If you are looking to get your first Brazillian done or looking for a new waxer (for anything) I strongly recommend you check out Kim for yourself.
