We visited Prescott briefly, and I wanted to grab a bite to eat. We saw Brown Bag Brewery and decided to drop in. Rustic, burger joint decor. The service was ok. She forgot my ice water (not really a big deal, as i was eating my meal). She realized later when I had finished and asked for a box that I had no ice water on my table. She apologized and offered to get me a takeout cup. That was nice. Touted as the "The Best Burger(s) in Prescott" I went with the... BBQ Burger: beer battered onion rings, cheddar, pickles, applewood smoked bacon, bbq sauce, house beer mustard (3.5/5). My order came out so fast. I was surprised. The meat was cooked perfectly, and all the ingredients were tasty in what you'd expect a burger with bbq sauce would be like. The disappointing part of it was the bun. It was toasted too long, so it was a bit dry and hard. My other complaint was the fries. They seemed to have either been cooked beforehand and sitting around, and then double fried to where they are hot and crisp again but dried out and hard to eat. I did mention the fries to my server, and she did acknowledge that, "maybe the fryer's setting was too high and the kitchen was cooking them too long at that high temp, which dried out the fries". Yep, that's another possibility. I buy that. I appreciate her honesty. Note: Yelp Check-in, 10% off the bill. Overall 3.5 stars. If they can work out the kinks, I am sure they will stand on their billing of "The Best Burger(s) in Prescott." They definitely are off to a good start! read more

Went on a nice drive to Prescott and was happy to find Super juicy burgers and frosty brews to enjoy the sightseeing. It looks relatively new and hip. The staff were all friendly and helpful . The local beer they served had cool names. I went w the crazy 88, super flavourful and complimented the burger . To start with, it seemed like they were just opened and were getting the bugs out. Maybe day 3 or earlier. The guy in front of me, and me were both left waiting for a good 3-4 minutes when we got there. There was no sign saying "seat yourself", or "please wait to be seated", so we had no idea what to do, and we were both un greeted. The waitress walked by at least once back and forth, did not make eye contact, and did not acknowledge our presence. Makes you feel a little weird. Maybe this is part of the schtick, I don't know, but it comes across as unprofessional. Service at the table was OK. She forgot my Cole slaw, and had to be reminded. But she asked about hot sauces, and brought me some. The menu says we serve burgers 'medium rare'. If you want it another way, then tell us. I said I wanted mine rare. It had the tiniest bit of pink in the center. Not even similar to rare. Beef isn't good for you to start with. At least it has to taste like something and not be overcooked. This place is unbearable, and I can't see how there are still in business. We ended up leaving and just paying for our drinks. Family and I are in town for family and a vacation. So, we were near by and wanted to grab a dinner in town for the experience in Prescott. 1st Red Flag: We arrived at the location to find the location mostly empty, when other places had over an hour wait on a Monday. 2nd Red Flag: we met the hostess and had a party of 11. We noticed that they came back and seated the wrong party behind us. 3rd Red Flag: the tables were dirty, and food debris on the chairs. We were seated on the inside patio, because they gave the table. Napkins holders were empty. 4th Red Flag: We when to place the drink order and this place was out of all of "their" beers expect for 4 of them. The sever had to you know go back to bar to check stock. Then we were told they were out of the pretzel sticks, wings, vegan burger. 5th Red Flag: The Drink Order. We ordered a high noon, and they were out of that as well. Waring: if you order a drink at this place, safe bet is to order a can or bottle drink. I ordered the old fashioned, and I am almost sure it had no bourbon in it. 100% sugar water. They used "Sugar in the raw" bs the brown sugar on the menu. They used the wrong cherries it. Waited again for them to take our order and we made the call to bail out before the food experience. We told the sever and let her know it's not her fault. We asked for the check and we expected for a manager to come out to speak with us, as we were getting to leave. Never happen! This shows that the ownership and management is leaking self awareness and couldn't care less if guest leave. (Coming from a person who has been in the industry for 20 years) I hope this place either closes or has a huge turn around. read more

First time here, the hostess was semi rude and seemed annoyed that she had to clean a table in order to seat us and even more annoyed when we asked where the bathroom was which was behind her but truly we didn't see it. We were seated, Cutter was our waiter, I think he was more like a bartender than a waiter not sure but that's where I noticed he was mostly at. He brought us our drinks, took our order and my son's wings were the first to arrive. He liked them. He was actually pretty much done with his food before our food came out and we all had burgers. First, our overall impression was that they care about the customers' experience and really are trying to improve this place... We had friendly, attentive service. We were seated right away in one of the high tops at the front of the restaurant by the windows. This is probably the best views of the entire courthouse square. There was great music playing. Note: We did not venture to the bar in the back but it appeared to be more busy than the front dining area. We ordered the West Coast Philly and BLT both with fries. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time. The Philly seemed a bit smaller than what we've had in most other places but it was good. The BLT had the usual plus avocado and a delicious aioli. It was very tasty. The fries were crispy and well-seasoned. Unfortunately, none of the food was hot. I am a stickler about this. If it's intended to be hot, it should be. The Philly and fries could have been a home run if they hadn't been cold. We shared our thoughts with the server who apologized and gave us a small discount. I was a huge fan oof Brown Bag Burger in the old location!!! The new venue on Gurley St. has now permanently lost me as a customer! I ordered a medium well burger and got raw meat with a bit of char, after waiting approximately 45 for my meal, as the option my party had almost finished their meals. It was almost impossible to the waitress attention, and after she served the raw burger, she totally disappeared until check collection time. The ambience was dark and dreary... I tried them two more times hoping for better results, needless to say, I was still disappointed and will not be returning nor will I be recommending this failure to anyone! read more

Yikes... This place absolutely needs some improvement already after just opening... Came here the evening of the Xmas parade, and my first alarm bell should have been when I noticed the place only had 3 parties max. Odd when it's literally packed to the brim with people everywhere for the parade. They had 2 servers and a bartender working at the time from what I could tell. And unfortunately the service lagged. It took ten mins to order and then another ten minutes to get our drinks, and once we got them, both beers sadly were very flat, and the one cocktail definitely was pure club soda, no vodka. Not to mention the lack of beer choices, considering it's a brewery and all. They don't even have Chardonnay for my beer-hating mother (hence the vodka soda she ordered). As I was reading the reviews on here for this place while we were waiting to order food, and getting my second alarm bell from the reviews, the party seated next to us got their burgers and ALL of them immediately had the same reaction as the people that left the reviews... Burgers were raw and cold on the inside, yet somehow burnt on the outside, they said. So we decided to 86 our food order and just finish the drinks. I'm giving two stars instead of one only because of our server. Even though it took a sec to get initial service, you could tell she was trying her hardest, and she was the sweetest lady. She even went out of her way to fix the vodka soda herself and make sure we got our money's worth. All in all, I do hope this place learns from feedback. Cons: Food (portion, quality) Pros: Service, location, decor Used to love the burgers at Brown Bag in their previous location. It was small but the burgers were generous as well as the side. I loved that they had a gluten-free bun available. Now that they have been in their new location in the former Prescott Brewing Company in Bashford Courts on the Square, a lot seems to have changed. And not for the best. We were excited to check them out again! There was a great deal of confusion with our first server, in regard to what gluten-free meant. This was a bit surprising, and after he checked to find out more from the staff, he quickly vanished and someone else took over our table. The new server was fantastic! However our food was mediocre at best. And what is with the little "hobbit style" metal trays?! Not only did the little metal tray spin around annoyingly on the table, but the portions, in my observation, since a few years ago, have been reduced. I looked back over some photos from the original location from about three plus years ago and attempted to attach here but was unable to. You will have to decide on this one for yourself. :-) Of note: It seemed a bit chaotic as far as what the owner has planned for that property. When I asked about the upstairs area that was formerly used by PBC, the staff showed us the door that leads upstairs to that area, mentioning that they were planning on expanding, and while we were being shown the door, the door actually was falling out of the wall, because there were few (or any) hinges holding it in place! Now this was right in front of the area where people check in to the restaurant for a table. I found this kind of sloppy and also a potential hazard to their customers. Also there was confusion about the outside seating area that's like an atrium that is also part of that property. Is that being used or not used? In addition, there was a sign right outside the entrance to the restaurant, stating that there was a new bar coming in the basement, that was also associated with Brown Bag Brewery. All this could be very interesting and exciting for this venue, and honestly, that was part of what we were there wanting to find out about. But it all seemed to be unclear... Perhaps to the employee that was answering our questions? My observation is that iften restaurants that locate in proximity to the Prescott downtown Square, just don't do their best to offer patrons a good quality dining experience. Often there is inconsistency and no quality control. Perhaps they feel they can simply rely on the cool historic buildings & ambiance, that provides that experience that only downtown Prescott can offer. And, because so much tourism passes through that area, perhaps the restauranteurs "settle" for offering what some locals refer to as just "Prescott good". I believe we can do better! read more

The Vietnamese style wings were made with peanut butter spread and incredible (I've had them several times now) and the others great as well. The dipping sauces especially their homemade ranch are yummy too! My friend loved the juicy burgers. I've also had the grilled cheese (cheese trilogy with tomatoes and mesquite honey aioli) with the tomato bisque and it was delicious! Service was great, food was delicious and fresh! This place is an abomination!! Used to have good food. The most recent time I went to eat at the physical restaurant I waited 45 minutes for one cheeseburger. I ordered avocado on my burger, and it did not come on it, and the server told me that they were unable to remove the charge. I also never received my soda and asked if I could get it myself, and the nice busser ended up getting it for me, but I'm pretty sure my server went on smoke break and forgot to get my drink. A few weeks later, I decided to give it another try because again the burgers used to be delicious and I ordered my food at 6:20, and my order was canceled by the restaurant at 7:50. Needless to say my experience, both dining in and ordering for delivery have been awful. Even told the waitress a couple times, no grilled onions. Guess what, I got grilled onions. At least make sure before you bring the food to the table. Didn't eat and went somewhere else to get food. They were out of several things on the menu. The server continued to have to come back and say "so we are out of ____." They don't have the vegan burger as advertised, so if you are vegetarian, there isn't too much other than fries here. The IPA is pretty solid so if you just want a beer and you get the amazing, overworked server who was there, then this is a salvageable place. Otherwise, head to Lazy G or Colt. read more

Was walking by and saw my friend's band playing inside so I decided to stop in and listen to them and grab a bite to eat. Stood at the 'wait to be seated' sign for a solid 10 minutes before anyone came around to seat us. The place was empty except two tables eating their food. After perusing the menu we decided to order drinks and ordered the old fashioned and the "world's best coffee". After thirty minutes the drinks still hadn't shown up and the waitress came by to say that the bartender wasn't in the back and she didn't know when he would return. If I wasn't supporting my friend's band I would have left then. Approximately ten minutes later our drinks arrived and the old fashioned was less than half of a rocks glass full. It tasted fine but was very small. The coffee drink was absolutely delicious. I ordered a burger and truffle fries and they showed up in a timely manner and were very tasty. The staff weren't very attentive and only came by to check on us one time. I had to go find someone to get the check and was absolutely shocked at how expensive those two drinks and a burger was. I really wanted to like this place because it was the Fourth of July. Busy day right? Well, this place wasn't busy almost at all. It was extremely loud from drunk people drinking at 2 in the afternoon. Reminder that there were small children there! the singer was one of the only good parts because sure, he played the music loud, but he lowered the music after he was asked to. After he left, they played music over the head and it was SUPER loud. My family and I waited 20 minutes for just waters and then after nearly 40 minutes we got our food. Yippe!... I had a long blonde hair in my chilli. None of my family members have blonde hair. When I addressed it to the waitress, she was thankfully upset about it and asked if I wanted it to be remade. She seemed not mad at me, but at the kitchen. She was very nice and took 20% off our entire check. I still waited 15 minutes for a burger with chilli on it. He received a chili cheeseburger. When he asked the bartender about it, he told him they no longer make the green chili burger. He opted to keep the chili cheese burger. The burger was very rare, cold and there was barely any chili on it, and no cheese. They brought him a cup of chili. The chili was hot and it was the only thing that saved the burgers. Walked in 45min till closing and we were greeted with a warm welcome from Ren. She took us to our table by the window and quickly got us our water. We ordered our food once our waters were dropped off. We got the inferno burger with onion rings, the Cajun burger with a side salad (with a vinaigrette), and a side of the pickle fries. EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING! The burgers were super juicy with the right amount of seasoning. Each burger had its special characteristic; the inferno burger with its spicy elements and freshness, then the Cajun burger with its perfect blend of spice complimented by the onion jam. Both were chefs kiss! The onion rings were super crunchy and the batter was seasoned perfectly! The pickled fries were honestly the best I've ever had! The corn meal breading was just the perfect combination with the batter to give it the amazing crunchy texture along with a slight sweetness from the corn meal. The side salad was a normal side salad with a vinaigrette dressing, it went perfectly with the Cajun burger. Like I said, we were there 45min to closing so we were the only ones there. The restaurant itself was clean and looked pretty new. We are visitors and this was the perfect way to end our night. Ren was a total gem and made sure we were taken care from start to finish. Thanks to Ren and the whole staff for making our experience a memorable one.
