Staff was friendly and it's a super cute restaurant and lodge. The food is just ok. I had the boneless wings and they were good. My kids had the pizza and the sauce tasted like it was Ragu from a can, not very good. My friend had the meatloaf and it wasn't very good either, they should add a veggie to the plate for $18. Overall a nice dining experience but the food could be better

July 2024 - Taco Tuesday platter. It's a no for me. Beans were bland, they and the rice were lukewarm at best. Tacos were okay but unremarkable. There are other area restaurants that make them more to my liking. Salsa was good.

    "Smoke Stack" pulled pork sandwich

We've driven past this place a bunch of times. Today we decided to go there on the spur of the moment for an early dinner. Since it was a Sunday afternoon, there was no live music and it wasn't crowded, which suited us fine. NOTE FOR THOSE WITH MOBILITY ISSUES: When you enter the building, you must descend a flight of stairs to get to the restaurant. Alternatively, you can walk down a fairly steep asphalt ramp on the east side of the building and enter through the restaurant's back door. There are no railings on the ramp. My husband had the "Copper": Prime rib and Swiss cheese on a 6" hoagie roll with a side of au jus ($16.99). The side he chose was onion rings with honey mustard sauce. I had the "Smoke Stack": Slow cooked BBQ pulled pork on a brioche bun with a side of pickles and extra BBQ sauce ($12.99). I chose a side salad with ranch dressing. Both were fresh and tasty. My husband said the onion rings were especially good, and he brought several home to eat with tomorrow night's leftovers. For dessert, my husband had cherry cobbler and I had a brownie topped with vanilla ice cream and both chocolate and caramel syrups. The brownie was enormous, and half of it came home for tomorrow night. The total with tax and tip was $70. The service was prompt and friendly. Also the view was beautiful (see photo). We will definitely be back.

We had a wonderful time and the food was excellent. Always try to make it by at least a couple times a year. We are from Phoenix.

Coming back to The Clinkscale for a second time--after such an unforgettable honeymoon experience…read moreback in November--just confirmed what we already knew: this place is truly something special. Traveling back to Arizona, we knew we had to return, and once again, it exceeded every expectation. The filet mignon is simply out of this world--served sizzling in a cast iron skillet with clarified butter, it's incredibly flavorful, perfectly cooked, and melt-in-your-mouth tender. It's the kind of dish you think about long after the meal is over. What really sets this place apart, though, is the people. The staff consistently go above and beyond, creating an experience that feels both elevated and welcoming. And Michael, the manager, is exceptional--so accommodating, attentive, and genuinely invested in making every guest feel taken care of. It's rare to find a restaurant that delivers this level of quality and consistency twice, let alone make you want to keep coming back. Without a doubt, one of the greatest dining experiences in the USA. We'll absolutely be back again.

The reason we came back on May 23 was because the food and service was so good on our first visit, as we were heading to the Grand Canyon, that we resolved to stop in on our return to Phoenix later that week. Our server on our first visit was Julie, and she was friendly, attentive, and very professional. My wife ordered the taco salad with ground beef. Julie explained that the ground beef used is also used for the chili, and that it was a little spicy. My wife is sensitive to spicy food, but she decided to give it a try. It was the highlight of her meal; just the right amount of heat and not overly spicy, and rest of the salad was fresh and tasty. The cranberry walnut salad I ordered was also fresh and tasty, although the chicken was a bit dry. Our son ordered the home made biscuits and gravy, which he said were delicious. The gravy was amongst the best he's had, and it contained bits of sausage. The serving sizes were all very generous, so there was no room for pie, unfortunately. Julie invited us to come back next week and leave room for pie, so we did just that. It was a really good meal, and a great way to start our vacation, worthy of five stars. Business was relatively slow on our first visit, but, when we visited the following Saturday, the restaurant was packed, since Memorial Day is the start of the summer travel season. We were seated within 15 minutes and were promptly greeted by Dakota. She told us the kitchen was out of numerous items and gave us a few minutes to look over the menus. One of the menus was quite dirty, with what seemed like maple syrup on the plastic-covered page. This time, I ordered the rib basket appetizer, my wife ordered a chopped salad with grilled chicken, and our son ordered the Rock Springs burger. On our first visit, the food took 10-15 minutes to arrive, on this visit, it took nearly 30 minutes. The ribs were meaty, but were room temperature, and seasoning was light and unremarkable. My wife's chopped salad was stacked high and served on a regular plate. There was so much salad that it was difficult for her to eat without the salad ending up on the table and, after 15 minutes, it looked like she'd hardly made a dent in it. She said the chicken was very dry, and ended up leaving more than half or her salad uneaten. Our son had no complaints about the burger, which appeared to be cooked perfectly. We each ended up getting a slice of the Dutch crust apple pie ala mode, which was served warm with a generous scoop of high quality vanilla ice cream. Rock Springs Cafe has quite a history, and the decor really shows its Western history. However, it looks like it hasn't been refreshed in nearly 20 years, and some of the posters, plaques and other things on the wall are in rough shape. The men's bathroom are unique, furnished with urinals made from beer kegs and more license plates than you can count. Rock Springs Cafe was a great stop for us, twice, and we plan to return on our next visit to the Grand Canyon.

You pick what you want and pay indoors where they have more selections of sweets or pickled items to take. There is some shaded area to eat but it's extremely hot and unpleasant to eat outside. I'm not sure they have fans or if they do, they weren't on. It's July so I'd recommend to plan to eat it in your car or indoors at their diner if you can. $7 per slice is pretty expensive for what you get but you do have an option to get half a pie for $15 but they have limited selections for those. Coconut was very good and light 5/5 Chocolate left something to be desired. Not entirely chocolatey or cocoa-ey. 3/5

Inside it's an attractive interior and I was expecting a good meal. They have a small parking lot along with plenty of street parking if that is full. The restaurant has a covered outdoor patio for dining along with a full bar room separate from the inside seating areas. I ordered the bourbon glazed pecan salmon entree for $34. The meal came with a choice of two side dishes. I went with a side salad and the baked potato. Kat, my waitress, asked if I wanted it loaded with sour cream, butter, bacon, cheese and chives. I asked her if there was an extra charge for those toppings and she said no and that it came that way if I desired it. I accepted it except for the chives. First to arrive was the side salad and it was delicious. It was a quality start to the meal. Then the entree appeared and it was a beautiful plate. The salmon was pan seared with a bourbon glaze on top with candied pecans. It also had several raviolis next to the salmon with spinach and some creole mustard sauce. Flavor, flavor, flavor! That glaze and pecans mixed so well with the salmon and raviolis. Mouth watering for sure. The baked potato had two large scoops of butter and sour cream on top with cheese and was oh so good tasting. It was a quality meal for sure. 5 stars! As I was eating the potato I noticed there was no bacon pieces in it. Figuring that someone forgot to add it, I looked for my waitress and she was no where to be found. Her service was very slow. By the time she arrived I had finished the meal. I mentioned to her that the bacon was missing but it was too late since I had finished the meal. Minus 1 star. When she presented the bill at my table I paid the bill with full tip and took the receipt and left. Just outside the door I noticed on the receipt that I had been charged .75 cents each for the bacon and cheese! Minus another star. So I went back in and talked to the lady manager. She said that my waitress wasn't aware of those topping charges and it was her fault. I told her that I understood that those things can happen but had a problem with being charged for the bacon and never receiving it. She said that she would refund me the cost for the bacon and cheese and would adjust my credit card for the $1.50. I saw her do it on their portable credit card machine. She assured me that it would be done. That was last Thursday and this is Tuesday and no credit has shown in my statement. Minus another star. Very good food, very poor staff and management.
