I was with friends at Tompkins open streets and you can't go without stopping at Brown Butter Creamery. The line may be long but it's definitely worth it. I love their variety of unique and classic favors. My fav is their Ube flavor ice cream. It is my go to every time and it hits the spot. Remember while at TAMA to support and respect the local businesses.

I had a taste for some Brooklyn Babycakes and heard they carried them in the creamery and also Brown Butter (cafe) sometimes, so I stopped in. Before I got a chance to ask, I was instantly drawn to the vibrant colors of gelato in the case. *Takes mental note: Ube and Bourbon Vanilla. Sadly there were none, but I ended up with a free scoop, courtesy of a photographer taking shots for a publication! And lo and behold, it was ube, yeeeaaaauuuhhhh!!!!! I snuck a taste and let me tell you, it was delicious. So velvety, full of real ube flavor, not that weird artificial taste or dyed vanilla (its the Pinoy kind of ube, iykyk!). I know I will be back, not only because the cakes will get you, but this gelato will too.

Delicious!! My partner and I chose to share 3 different scoops - ube, bourbon vanilla, and cookies & cream. Ube was the unanimous winner, but we enjoyed all 3 as they were deliciously creamy. Scoops are a good size and priced appropriately. Would recommend!

I had the coco loco Ice cream. It was delicious but the serving are too small for the price. The slice of cake was $6.50. We tried the coconut Flavored cake and it was delicious, moist and fresh.

What a wonderful addition to the neighborhood! An extension of the famed Brown Butter (if you haven't definitely go try their chicken biscuit sandwich!) located just down the street on Tompkins Ave, the Creamery is the perfect place for a scoop of gelato or sorbet on a hot day. They have a variety of flavors that rotate and offer 3 different types of cone on which to enjoy your frozen treat. Their desserts are also made in house as an added bonus. Great place to bring family and friends alike. This side of BedStuy was missing a sweets shop and Brown Butter is stepping up to fill that need.

While I love Brown Butter and am super excited for them in this journey of expanding into ice cream, I cannot believe I paid $18- $20 with tax for a pint of ice cream! That is just way too over priced! It doesn't align with the 1-2 scoops prices either. I thought I was doing a good deed support this business and grabbing some ice cream to go but I felt feeling taken advantage of. The ube was really good and creamy however I definitely would not purchase a pint from here again. You can buy one for half the price from the 100s of other ice cream shops in the area or just go to the grocery store for 1/3 of the price.

Upon submitting the online order, I received a text confirming the order. I was able to confirm the price. They were going to charge me an extra $12 for the outline of Crayon Shin-Chan's face that I requested. They said it wasn't a simple drawing, which I didn't realize, so I swiftly changed it to just mini cone designs. The mini cone design was a good call because they added different flavored ice creams that I didn't choose for the cake to the cones. One of the ice cream cone flavors was orange or something, which I don't think I saw as an option on the ordering form, making it even better and allowing us to try even more flavors! It was $65.33 (incl tax) for 3 flavors for the second biggest size cake (I think it was for 10-12 ppl). The three flavors I got for the cake were: Cookies and cream - 3.5/5 My least favorite flavor here even though I generally really enjoy cookies and cream. Not enough cookies and the texture of the cookies is not soft enough. Don't think it will taste like your favorite pint of cookies and cream. If I were to try to describe it, I'd say it'd taste like a healthy cookies and cream? Taro - 4.5/5 My favorite flavor because the taro came through but in a nice, subtle way. This was also the least sweet of the three flavors. Black sesame - 4/5 Undeniably black sesame. The taste was very strong and the black sesame seeds gave it some texture. A tad bit too sweet but overall ok. I've gotten ice cream cakes from here in the past, and I thought I wrote them a review already, but I guess not.

Both flavors were good, not overly sweet. The two cones on the cake were flavors that we couldn't choose and it was strawberry and matcha. Personally for me, the matcha was a bit too bitter. The owner Ashley was very sweet and took time to fill us in on the concept and give insight on more additions coming to the shop ( bakery items). It's insanely good, don't skip it if you're a chocolate fan. Both my hunby and son agreed it's the best chocolate ice cream we've had. I had the Ethiopian Coffee ice cream, so good. The ice creams are made without eggs and preservatives, made with fair trade ingredients from Africa .Vegan options are available. Frozen drinks offerings as well. There's loyalty card that I'm sure will not be difficult to quickly fill up. There's a cute little table for kids too. Great aesthetics, great service and great ice cream. Cash or card. The staff since I was friendly and I tried a couple flavors before settling on two which were $8.50 with one scoop being $6 and three being $10 I believe with the scoop sizes being pretty big. In terms of ice cream texture, it's not as creamy as some other spots but I don't mind a thicker ice cream and the sorbet was not too icy which was definitely a plus. I went with one ice cream and one sorbet with those being the Sorrel Rum and the Soursop Ice Cream. While I usually prefer ice cream pretty heavily over sorbets because of texture, I preferred the sorrel as it was strongly flavored and just outstanding. I love sorrel having had it multiple times because of my workplace and this was a excellent version with a bit of sourness but not too much and a bit of spice presumably from the rum or some other spices they use for the sorrel with both being likely. The soursop was a bit lighter but still had enough guanabana flavor to be unique (though without the texture of course) and I would still recommend it. I also tried someone else's Guava Cheesecake Ice Cream which I also liked and I was happy that it wasn't overly sweetened as many guava pastries/ treats are. I would be very happy if this place opened up a location outside of Crown Heights as I liked the flavors a lot and it would be a nice spin on the general ice cream places usually located in Manhattan or the Asian ones popping up. I think LES would be perfect for instance but for now, there's definitely a possibility I would go back down here and get more of this if I'm going to be going back here for dinner or something similar.

The shop itself is small but cute, nicely decorated, with 2 mini tables and a couple of windowsill seats if you want to sit for a bit. Staff was super friendly and generous with samples, which I appreciated since some of the flavors are definitely outside the usual ice cream comfort zone. They also sell pints to take home. Flavor-wise, I tried the masala chai, black cherry cardamom, and the saffron soft serve. The saffron soft serve reminded me of the leftover milk from ras malai turned into soft serve, which was interesting and nostalgic. The masala chai and cherry cardamom were more subtle than I hoped. Some tasted unique upfront but left a slightly weird aftertaste that kind of lingered. I respect what they're trying to do and can see why people love it, especially if you're easing into more globally inspired desserts, but for the price, I wanted stronger flavor payoff and a cleaner finish. TLDR: Unique global inspired ice cream flavors, friendly staff, and free samples, but some flavors felt muted and had an odd aftertaste. Worth trying once if you're curious, but expensive for what it is.
