My husband knew it was time. My husband was visiting in California, so we didn't have a primary vet here. My husband loaded up Eyner in his truck and headed to Oroville. First stop VCA Oroville animal hospital. Didnt have appointment, but they took him in and with respect and compassion, Eyner was euthanized peacefully with my husband by his side. Hello my name is Greg I had to take my dog Chalu a chihuahua terrier mix to the hospital at 3:00 in…read morethe morning on a Sunday morning the cost to see her was close to $500 I had $119 in my right front pocket and no credit left on my credit cards it was also close to Payday and I was broke they were very nice people and tried their best to work with me we tried to get me a Care credit card but the system was down and I could not get one one of the vets told me I will look at your dog and do all I can for her I asked him how much would that be he said I will do this for free he took my little baby and was back in 20 minutes and told me she had possible parvo and needed to see a vet as soon as possible we both agreed that I would bring her back to the hospital the next morning when prices dropped drastically unfortunately the prices did not drop enough to where I could afford them some days passed I did my best for her but ended up contacting my ex-wife who took her immediately back to the hospital she was charged $2,500 my dog came home and for four or five days was getting better she then started to decline the paperwork from the hospital said bring her back I could not afford to bring her back I noticed on one of the medications for her said for refills call this number so I did unfortunately the vet did not fill her prescription for 7 days after that I believe it was too late my dog died I do not blame the vet for this I am quite sure they are doing the work of 10 people and trying their very best to help every animal they simply cannot do it they need more help I am going to be in contact with the company that owns VCA I am going to make suggestions such as payment plans for people who cannot afford their prices also a credit card from the corporation who owns the hospital itself also direct links viia web to agencies that can help financially at a moments notice and more vets on the staff that I believe are greatly needed all these things need to be set up in advance so that no dog or cat or any other animal has to suffer or die because of one's financial situation and lack of vets and like I said earlier I believe the people who work there tried their very best to get my little gal better I just needed approximately $5,000 more to get the job done and I simply did not have it from this point on when I own an animal I will make sure I have pet insurance and that is hard enough I am also pushing for a gap insurance for people who have pet insurance I will be working on that also and anything else I can think of to help our animals a huge thank you to the employees that work day and night to keep our animals alive and well thank you for taking a moment to read this greatly appreciated Greg P.S. please contact me with any of your ideas that might help greatly appreciated at bi-pedal@hotmail.com

We also like that Dr. McKenzie is very realistic, & doesn't charge for unnecessary procedures. If our animals aren't feeling well, or acting 'funny' Dr. McKenzie & her staff will find a reasonable explanation, & easy fix to the situation (I.e. suggesting chkn broth & rice mixed in with their usual dog food) & a phone call in a few days to check if all is well or not.
