They responded promptly to the online request, requested photos, and after I sent them, promptly gave me estimate and arranged to come out and inspect for detailed estimate. The common wall we share with our neighbors has water damage and over the years has gotten worse. However, our neighbor's property has had many owners who ignore the problem so we knew that eventually we'd end up having to help repair the wall. Finally, the HOA had some success in stopping the irrigation of the wall. There was substantial damage that we cannot afford to repair, so we got some estimates to repair portions of the wall on our side. So, if you need block wall repairs, or maybe just want to sound an idea out, call Brown. Steve will swing by and hear you out and give you a fair quote. Had to get a 25' section of cinder block wall repaired from wind damage back in March 23. I had concerns and issues about the remaining 220+ feet of wall on my property. Got Brown's and another company quote. Price per foot was comparable. What was different was Brown addressing specific concerns, offering options and solutions. Also, each additional option I asked for was priced ala carte, which I rather like, as I knew then there wasn't an inflated quote where I couldn't account for cost. I don't mind paying for stuff, as long as I feel I'm not being overcharged. I ended up replacing almost 100 linear feet of wall down to the footer, installing a new 25' pony wall, adding a course here and there, repairing existing walls. So a bigger job than Brown normally does. They're a small crew but I wasn't in a hurry. Obviously, you feel anxiety when your backyard wall is gone, but they kept the openings to a minimum. Brown will work with you as to pet, pool security, etc. Yeah there were rain days when they couldn't work. I appreciated that after laying down almost 70 blocks, when the color of the new block didn't match, Brown took it all down and relaid. Cleanup was better than I expected. The crew was professional and socialable. I can now check off "block wall" off my to-do list. I'd been dreading getting this done and glad it was painless with Brown Masonry. read more

Anyway, long story short, the entire transaction was started and completed via Yelp. No phone calls, no in person description of the problem, no awkward small talk, just pure efficiency. AMAZING. A large section of my block wall in the back yard had been seriously cracked by massive tree roots, there were gaps between some of the blocks, and these roots had pushed up the wall into kind of a very flattened-out upside-down V. I had the tree removed & then got rid of most of the roots and the stump myself...what a nightmare of a job THAT was, but I digress. This contractor gave me a quote via email and never came to the house to explain the job. The price was right but when it got down to him filling out the HOA Architecture form and signing he would never make time to come to my house so I could meet him and get him to sign and submit by yesterday for the HOA board meeting tonight. So, I contacted him a week later, and inquired about why there was no contact or phone call at the agreed date and time to get an estimate for repairs. Once again I was blown off for the second time. NO call, no show on the second appointment date and time, and only to be told "My mistake". This is poor service plain and simple.
