The food was good. I don't know that two sides and four pieces of chicken which were two legs and two wings were really worth $17 but the food was good and fresh Be aware, that they do have a credit card transaction fee now. Little add ons add up

This is by far the best chicken restaurant in the Chicago land area. This place is head & heels above Kentucky Fried Chicken & Popeye's. This place has more of a home cooked feel to it. This particular location is a lot bigger than some of the other Brown's Chicken I have been to. This one has a very big dining room. Most of the other Brown's Chicken locations are mostly for catering or take out & they have only a few seats inside to sit down & eat. This one has a lot of seats to sit down & eat. Their meal combos make it a good option to come to for lunch. The chicken here especially the chicken sandwich is some of the best & tastiest chicken around. Probably the one thing that makes this place stand out from other fast food chicken restaurants is their sides. Their golden brown mushrooms are delicious. Some of the other sides that are just as delicious are their macaroni & cheese, their biscuits & their mashed potatoes & gravy. If you're not looking for chicken they also have some good seafood options. They have three different seafood meals but the catfish or the butterfly shrimp was the tastiest. Overall the location is convenient & the food is tasty. I would definitely eat here again if I was in the area.

The Cole slaw was delicious (according to my husband). Not too cabbagy, not too much vinegar and not liquidy. The turkey bowl is very good: moist flavorful turkey, decent stuffing and moist, fluffy delicious mash potatoes and gravy!! I can easily eat just mashed potatoes and gravy for my whole meal. The staff was friendly and the restaurant was very clean

I used to love Browns and every once in a while I will stop in when I see one. I just ordered some chicken sandwiches for people at work and they were no good. They used to make an awesome sandwich but now they are nothing like before. The chicken breast is way smaller and thinner and the lettuce used was brown, wilted and had holes in it. The tomatoes were tiny and over ripe. I had to take all that off to eat the thing. The experience was a total bummer. For shame Browns Chicken - you are not even trying !

It makes me laugh when people with a healthy sense of self-entitlement get all huffy and give bad one star reviews for mildly bruised egos or minor inconveniences from minimum wage service workers. Why get pissed off when $20 feeds 4 semi-piggy people? Relax! Anyway, Brown's Chicken is a Chicagoland based chain that hasn't had much traction outside of the area, perhaps b/c of some bad press years ago related to an incident at another location involving murderous psychopaths that eluded justice for a decade ("Brown's Chicken Massacre" in Wikipedia if you're morbidly curious). It's really too bad, because it tastes better than a lot of other fried chicken from chains I've tried around the USA. Brown's uses a recipe of a buttermilk coating fried in a neutral tasting cottonseed oil, which makes for super crunchy and less greasy chicken coming out when it's freshly made. It's fast food, so make sure to wait for the freshly cooked stuff and you won't be disappointed by soggy chicken that's been sitting around in its own grease under a heating element. It's a regional chicken style and Brown's will even sell leftover chicken by the box at a big discount for less picky folks that want to save some dough. I find the non-chicken items standard fare and rather unremarkable except for the tasty fried mushrooms, but others seem to like them. Brown's does a hefty catering business and seeing boxes of Brown's chicken, pasta and sides at events was a common sight growing up in Chicago. "Brown's Chicken, it tastes better!" If you grew up watching TV around here, you just sang the theme in the same way the commercials did (yes, you sure did, just admit it). It's one of those local Chicago things that people familiar with it--even the out-of-state traveling gourmet types or the unreasonable one-star yelp reviewer types--will go back to time and again, b/c it's kinda always been around tempting us in the background. Check it out, why not.

So of course I got the fried chicken platter this time. So the service was fine. We sat in the bar area, which is comfortable. The booth is spacious enough. The ambiance is okay. A few locals sitting at the bar sipping cocktails and/or beer/wine. So back to the chicken. I swear the pieces were smaller this time. This was probably the fifth time I ordered the fried chicken, and although there were still four pieces, each one seemed smaller, especially the breast and thigh. Still good, but smaller. The Cole slaw was not as cold as I remember as well. I got mashed potatoes, which were very good. My wife got a salmon dish with mixed vegetables. She thought it was just okay. We noticed a lot of old people dining, and then realized we were them too. It's tough getting old. So would I return? Yes, of course, but really, did the chicken pieces actually get smaller? I dunno.

The host was very accommodating and made sure we were seated where we wanted. I ordered the Pitmaster with truffle fries, and both were easily a 10/10. The mac and cheese was a great side, and the fried pickles were the perfect addition to the meal. As someone who gets full pretty quickly, I ended up sharing my burger and fries, and there was still plenty to enjoy. It wasn't very busy when we first arrived, but the restaurant gradually filled up and became quite packed as the evening went on. Overall, a great experience with delicious food and a lively atmosphere!

We sat on the 2nd floor which has its own bar (nice since the wait staff doesn't need to go downstairs for drinks). This is a casual spot with lots of natural light coming in. There are plenty of TVs throughout which I noticed had sports on. Service throughout was OK. It did take awhile for our sever to take our order, check in, and bring drinks. I can understand if it was busy but that wasn't the case. I will say it wasn't like 45 mins of waiting, however, still not the greatest service. For food I ordered the social burger cooked well done and chose the side salad (minus feta). The dressing that comes with the salad is up my alley. I think it may have been some type of vinaigrette. Whatever it was, it was tangy and sour, I really liked it. The burger was also good. Since I'm pregnant I need to make sure all meats are thoroughly cooked. The burger was just that, cooked all the way through and no pink. Everything was delicious and I can see myself coming back.

We ordered two wraps and one sandwich, but when I received the order, I noticed that instead of the sandwich, they gave me something else I didn't order. I brought it to the staff's attention, and they said they would remake it. After waiting again, they handed me an order that actually belonged to someone else. I had to return it and explain once more that it wasn't what I ordered. After another wait, they finally prepared the correct sandwich. The whole experience was stressful and frustrating, especially since it took multiple attempts to get the right order. The food itself was good, which is why I continue to enjoy Tropical Cafe in general. However, based on this experience, I would not recommend this particular location.

I didn't care much for the fried rice because there was too much sesame oil. The eggrolls were good and the included dipping sauce container was huge! The parmesan garlic fried corn was good too.
