I was in town with a relative who was staying overnight at the hospital, so this is my first time in the town and the restaurant. I walk up to the counter and several young ladies were working. They were calling out orders, so I assumed once they did that, they would offer to help me. After several of the girls passed by me and did not offer to assist me, I finally had to ask where do I pick up my order. I went to the counter they directed me and I picked up my food. When I was leaving there was not a "sorry for the wait" or "thank you" when I was leaving. I ordered the flounder dinner and it was okay. But customer service was abysmal, thus the two star review. Whoever is the owner needs to teach the young ladies customer service. read more

This is a true hole in the wall. It doesn't look like much when driving up to it. I almost turned around but I had heard the food was good. It looks small and rusty on the outside with an empty rusty shed. However, to my pleasant surprise the inside is spacious and decent. I took a star off because it is old and when things are old you have to be extra clean. I had to wipe my own table, but that's cool with me. It was only 1 person I saw doing this so sweeping and wiping probably got behind. It still was relatively clean. I would eat in there, but an extremely picky person might not. It's a fish house in the country, so have realistic expectations about the atmosphere. The food is amazing and came out looking clean and fresh ... if that's possible. The hush puppies and shrimp are why I'll definitely go back. It's worth the try if you're in the neighborhood. If I lived here would get it to go all the time. Good food. First time trying it out tonight. The ladies were very sweet & pleasant. I ordered a little of everything. I got 1/2 lb of fried shrimp w/ bang bang sauce, fried asparagus with spicy sauce (that's the sauce that should be on the bang bang shrimp) ribeye, medium rare,mahi mahi with coleslaw & okra. Overall good. I had gotten the order to go to have dinner at my husband's Barbershop. I should have double checked on the steak sauce & coleslaw. The food we ordered was good, however, one of the employees was extremely rude to my brother. First of all there is only one shared bathroom. I wish I had timed how long I had to wait for one of the workers to be done in the bathroom. In fact I went to the desk to ask if a key was needed. Then when I went to use the restroom, I had a loud knock on the door. It was the rude employee. While she was in there, my brother had to use the bathroom. By the time she came out, my brother had an accident. She was rude to him when she exited, was behind the counter talking about him, using foul language. She was not quiet about it! I have never been treated so awfully than I have at Brown's Seafood. First of all we had to wait over 50 minutes to even see our food. We ordered one plate of food and one side. They were very busy, so I expected to wait. Which is common there, every time we go we wait quite a while for our food. We sit and wait and see a group of three in line after us get their food. We wait. A group of eight after them got their food. The takeout area, which was full of people too, was cleared out. Then another group of eight in line after us was getting their food. My husband went to the window at this point and asked an employee about our food, she said it was almost ready. This was at least 38 minutes after we ordered one plate of food and one side. The group of three who ordered after us were finishing their food. We are waiting for several more minutes, and they are still putting food out of the window that isn't ours. The takeout area started filling with people again, and we felt like we needed to go ask a second time about our food. We stood at the back and waited a few minutes till everyone cleared out but one person. We stood and waited long enough to hear the person behind the counter (turns out is the owner, so it makes how we were treated even worse) complaining to her friend/customer on how awful her night was and she was never going to work on a Saturday night again. No one had even acknowledged us standing there. Finally another employee walked by and asked if we had been helped. While she is looking for our order, the cook in the back yells up front there are no more crabs legs. We ordered crab legs, and we already saw tons of crabs legs going to people who ordered after us. At this point we still don't know if they even have our order in. We were one hundred understandably upset, and we did tell the staff how we had been waiting so long and still wondering if we were even going to get our food. The owner assured us yes we would, and it's coming up soon. Fine we are ok with that. Then the owner's nasty friend decided she wanted to have the last word, and told us we were being rude. Shocked, I told this woman this was none of her business. She said it was and I was being rude and ridiculous. I told her she had no idea what was even going on. We were upset yes and voicing our concerns, but we weren't being nasty or rude. Most people would have said something. If we didn't, we would never have even seen our food. This nasty woman felt like she had to be rude to us because her friend, the owner, was having a horrible night and we walked up and made it worse. We made her night worse because we waited 50 minutes for food, and had to go ask twice about one plate of food and one side. Brown's made the mistake and didn't even fess up to it. When they looked for our order, they were saying it was two orders. No wrong, it was just put in a second time when we asked about the food the first time. Now we are both very upset on how this nasty friend of the owners is talking to us, so we decide to get our money back on go somewhere else. She happily gives us our money back, we finally see our food come to the window, we turn to leave (without the food)... and the nasty women calls to our backs and tells us to leave and never come back. I turn around and she is looking me in the eye and I give her the finger and she yells through the whole restaurants and calls me a bitch. We are just in shock and disbelief to be treated this way. Apparently the owner lets her friends bully and start fights with her customers if they have a legitimate complaint. read more

It seems to be slightly hidden behind a shiny filling station on 6th Street. I had to get locals to tell me how to find it the first time I went there.
