First of all, I love how this place is family owned and they have so many cute animals around the restaurant. That made the wait for food go by so fast as I was busy looking at their peacocks and goats and geese. I came on a Saturday for an early dinner and it was already packed with people. When they seat you, they give you grits and hush puppies and their grits are actually one of the best ones I've had ever. I tried their fried gator, frog legs, and catfish and all of them were perfectly fried with a crispy outside and tender inside. Good portion size and it tasted great! What a gem of a restaurant and I would love to bring friends and family here whenever they're in town.

If you're into southern soul food, fried fish, and country vibes in a family atmosphere, this is the place for you! A country restaurant on a huge plot of land on water with tons of animals to feed (almost like a petting zoo outside! great for entertaining the kids while you wait on the table). They specialize in fish, shrimp and grits, and don't sleep on those hush puppies! We ordered steamed shrimp and corn on the cob for the girls and my wife got the oysters and scallops. The scallops were buttery and cooked to perfection! After dinner, we fed the ducks and turtles, petted the goats one last time, and even had a close encounter with a very friendly peacock! The only notes I'd have is it gets a little loud inside during rush hour (probably due to the eating area being just one giant long room), and it was a little toasty inside, but I mean it was August in South Carolina so you kinda get used to the heat. And lastly, as a health conscious millennial, I wished there were more healthy options on the menu, especially in the side options. That being said, prices are decent, the service is quick and friendly, and it definitely sets a unique and cozy environment where you feel like home at Mama and Papa's house! Definitely a landmark staple restaurant in the North Augusta area!!!

Nothing fancy here just some seafood and atmosphere. The food is hot and the crowd is waiting. Great views and can feed the animals while you wait. This is a fish camp so don't expect nothing fancy. Come hungry because they do give you unlimited hushpuppies and grits. They also have items like gator and frog legs ... if you're interested in that. They only do crab legs on Thursday. So if you want a scenic view and some good ole fashioned seafood then this is the place to go!

The ambiance is nice. The menu offers several types of oysters, as well as about ten small plates and ten large plates. We split a frito misto, which included calamari, okra and Cod. It was delicious. For my entree I had the prawns and grits. Although tasty it was a bit of work to get the shells off. My husband had the soft shell crab and loved it. We were too full for dessert but maybe next time.

We split a half dozen oysters to start and they were perfect. We chose to enjoy 3 of two types of the oysters from their selection. I could've easily had many more. We made the decision to split three of the dishes off the snacks at the top of their menu, which was plenty enough for two of us to share along with the oysters. We had the chicken thighs which were juicy and full of flavor. The brussels sprouts with the goat cheese and balsamic glaze was a combination of flavors and texture that were absolutely beautiful. I finished the evening with an adorable birthday dessert, which was a candy bar like dish with Nutella ice cream. The sparkler candle was so cute. We cannot wait to come back to enjoy more oysters, great food, and amazing service. A huge shout out to Nick for helping us make this evening amazing.

There is plenty of parking. I'm not sure why it's called "at the river" bc I didn't see a river. There is inside and an outside enclosed area for seating when you enter from the parking lot. It is decorated like a casual bar and grill. My server was in training but friendly and worked alongside his trainer head server. For beverages, I ordered the oyster shooter and that Bloody Mary did not disappoint. I also had a Black Raspberry Margarita. This seems to be a thing in Augusta for Margaritas as well as this was the 2nd restaurant I went to and had this. The other place was better though. But let's talk about the food! The catfish was super tasty. They gave me fries although I didn't order them, and of course I still ate them. I had a side of baked potato salad. I should've asked why they're baked, but that was just okay. I had the TASTE OF BEAMIES- chicken & shrimp gumbo, black eyed pea jambalaya, shrimp and grits, my fav's in order were the chicken and shrimp gumbo, the shrimp and grits, then the black eyed pea jambalaya. I also ordered the 1/2 dozen Rockefeller oysters and they were amazing. The hush puppies that came with them were just okay. Overall, I enjoyed this meal.

Food was ok. I requested Scallops on a bed of rice. Well, the Scallops were slightly overcooked,…read morethe bed of rice was about 2 grains thick. Very skimpy. I also asked for Horseradish and got a small cup, perhaps a teaspoon. Skimpy. In fact, I felt for what I paid was nowhere near worth the price. My wife even commented the portions were so small. The food reminded me of pub food. Funny. I told my wife I dont care for pub food,. Well..... Now the Key Lime Pie was great, and the waitress was very accommodating and nice. Great service. We sat in the enlosed porch, thinking it would be quieter. Nope. In fact, I had visions I was at a convention. My wife and I had much difficulty conversing. I guess we chose the wrong place to sit. And no, there weren't many patrons. It was an experience. Expected more. Doubt I would try again.
