We placed an order for 2 large Pans of low country boil total $157 no problem with the price because the pans are full. The problem is the shrimp were very mushy couldn't even peel them without the shrimp falling apart. The corn, sausage and potatoes were cooked perfectly but the shrimp was horrible. Wow!! Was heading to the gnat house for some seafood and saw this place. Thought it was a sit down place and was about to walk out. The owner I assume or the main person there was so helpful and explained the entire menu. I was uncertain the single portion of the seafood boil would be enough so I ordered some peeled jumbo shrimp. The shrimp was cooked to perfection and the seafood boil was outstanding. The sausage may have been better than the shrimp. This is a must stop if you're fine with amazing take out. I took the food back to my hotel and ate outside. Several of the guests were gawking at the food. Needless to say I couldn't finish both plates. The entire meal was just under $30 with a tip. You cannot eat anywhere these days for less than $30 and have this quality of a meal. read more

Amazing selection of seafood! Lobster, scallops, alligator, so many options. And, you get a half pound of fried shrimp with every entree, and everything we ordered was super fresh and delicious! The Food is delicious! I have tried several menu items and all are perfectly seasoned and delicious. It is clean inside but they do sell fresh uncooked seafood and cooked-to-order seafood. So sometimes you may get a fresh seafood smell but not all the time. They do enforce all COVID-19 policies for mask wearing and social distancing. read more

Great seafood store / take out in Statesboro. We found it on Yelp looking for a restaurant that wasn't part of some chain. Parking was easy once you figured out most of the cars were for the restaurant next door. Menu is confusing since basically, you pick out what you want to eat, they cook it for you for another buck or two and then you go somewhere to eat it. There were only chairs in the store, no tables -- not even a picnic table outside! But, who cares at a take-out place. We got a couple of different combos and the fish, shrimp and scallops were very good -- especially for the price. If we are back in Statesboro, we'll definitely stop in. This was not what I was expecting. Being from Nebraska here on business. I stoped thinking it was a restaurant. Not really, it is more like a seafood market. You order to go. Raw or cooked for a bit more. I ordered the Low Country Boil. I think it came to $11 cooked. I could not eat it all. So much food for little money. If you have not been there you need to go. I'm really surprised southern crab house hasn't been reviewed yet. Located next door to Gnat's Landing sits a hidden gem of Statesboro. The building is nothing to look at but the seafood the take away restaurant pumps out is great. I often bring people here and can tell they are hesitant to go inside, order, and even eat the food, but once they try it they are converted. Southern Crab House makes a very tasty low country boil served with garlic butter, old bay seasoning, and hot sauce. It consists of corn, shrimp, blue crab, potato, and andouille sausage. The shrimp comes shell on and is a bit of a pain to clean but it's loaded with flavor. The small plate, which is more than enough for 1 person will set you back $8. I believe they give a $1 discount for EBT customers. SCH also has a case filled with fish that you can purchase raw by the pound or have them fry. The place is usually busy and little chaotic but the staff is very friendly and good at remembering who ordered what. There are a few seats in the place you can wait at but it's strictly a take out business. There are no tables or wait staff. read more

Wow! I came to Statesboro to visit my daughter, she recommended Southern Crab House! Great recommendation, she usually gets crab legs and shrimp,. I chose fried oysters, shrimp with onion rings and hush puppies all I can say is Simply Delicious!!! I was very very impressed with the taste and the amount of seafood that was given to me! No complaints about the offerings, but the whole "Food Stamp Reader is Busted" LIE is getting OLD!!! Not a discussion on why those on EBT should be forced to buy nothing but Soylent and no sodas, etc...rather when you can't accept EBT for 6 months at a time you've been caught (along with a card-holder) of misusing the Food Assistance Program, making you 1) a Criminal and 2) a LIAR (for claiming the machine's broken!) I don't have documented proof, but let me ask you THIS: If you are losing HUNDREDS of sales of seafood every day because you have to turn away EBT card holders making (at minimum) $6.00 purchases ON UP you get your EBT Card Reader fixed!!! read more
