The young woman went to look for the shoe I wanted but stopped for 10 minutes to talk to a stranger whose makeup she admired while they traded tips--while we waited. There are many places people go to because businesses "specialize" in whatever they are selling or servicing. Restaurants, doctors, books, etc. Brown's is definitely one of those places. The sales team know their stuff. They know shoes. They know feet. They know people. My husband loves Simple Shoes (the sneakers that Larry David wears) and Brown's carries several styles. I buy all my Sanita shoes here. And...if there isn't a style you see, they'll order you one! There are great hiking shoes, quality running shoes, stylish boots, trendy sandals and flip flops, and even unique, one-of-a-kind European heels that are cool and funky! I went in, and got my feet measured. My feet are two different sizes - by a whole size. The salesman spent an hour with me assessing my needs and wants and didn't try to "sell me" on a middle-sized shoe (where one foot would be cramped and the other would swim) nor did he try to sell me "padding" for the larger shoe/smaller foot. Instead, he gave me a 'deal' for buying two different sized shoes. More expensive? Maybe. My feet and my back don't hurt, so the money is well spent. I asked what would happen to the two odd shoes.... Brown's sends them to a place in Texas where the shoes are donated to a place that provides footwear for amputees who may only need one shoe. I kept my business local, my feet are happy, and two amputees are happy. Win-win-win! read more

Greg Palmer should be fired. My mother was approached by this person, he touched a soft leather boot and told her she was "allowed to fondle"....it was my mothers birthday and this completely ruined her afternoon as she suddenly felt unsafe in this store that we have frequently shopped in for many years. I went back in to ask him why he said this to my mother. I asked him if we could talk to him over here...away from the crowd....and he said, "YOU can talk to me anywhere you want!" I then asked my husband to join us and we continued the conversation with my husband leading the conversation. My husband explained that using the word "fondle" in a flirtatious manor was inappropriate and Greg was unrelenting. Greg said that it was not his fault that my mother took it that way regardless of his wording and flirtatious demeanor. read more

Stopped into Brown's on our way to Moab. The had great clearance shoes outside and the prices otherwise were decent. There was a great selection of shoes for men and women, sandals, chacos, etc. And the guy in the shop was so nice. Very friendly and helpful, but didn't hover or anything. read more

Skull Sanitas...yes please! Can't say I've often bought shoes on vacation, but I saw these in the window & wasn't leaving without them. The store owner was super nice, helpful & even offered to ship the shoes of he didn't have my size. Well stocked yet reminded me of old fashioned shoe stores from when I was a kid. Rule #1 in sales... regardless of when a customer walks into your building even if you are 2 minutes from closing, you NEVER tell them "we close in two minutes". As a person in the sales industry I would never do this. We walked in intending to spend some serious $$$ and I could tell it was more important to them to get out the door than sell us what we wanted. Unfortunately we don't get many opportunities to shop for ourselves so this kind of lack of customer service is just so disappointing. You missed out on some serious $$$ Browns. read more

I have been here twice, and it is simply the best shoe store I know of anywhere. The salesman measures both feet, and I never knew I had two different size feet. The customer service is outstanding. I bought Birkenstocks two years ago here, and the salesman spent time explaining how to break them in, how to fit them properly, and how to maintain them. There aren't any shoe stores like this anymore. A real gem, and a mandatory stop when I visit Grand Junction. read more

I've been trying to shop at Brown's for years, because local shoe store, but as a size 11 women's, it's really hard. I've been told a few times that it's just too difficult to find size 11's.
