I had a great experience fishing at Browns the other day. I wasn't expecting it, but I had a great dinner. the service was right in, the food was above average. and the atmosphere was great. I have spent a lot of time with lack lustre service and reduced standards restaurants, this was not that experience, it was on point and a good place. refreshing! read more

The Caesar salad wasn't anything to write home about, but the dry rub ribs were delicious. The brownie was also really good, but beware that it's BIG! The Caesar (drink) was great; loved the addition of the green beans. The service was quick and very friendly. The ambiance is an upscale pub with soft lighting and tasteful decor. If you are looking for a place to dine during these uncertain COVID times, Brown's is the place to go. Their menus are online, minimizing the touching of surfaces. The employees are all masked, and the restaurant is very clean. Besides their above average ability to adjust during this pandemic, the fish and chips I had werr unreal. I have had F&C at probably 50 different restaurants, however, these guys are for sure in the top 5. The coleslaw was excellent; a creamy dressing and fresh vegetables. The F&C were amazing. Crispy, flavourful, and just the right portion. I am very happy with our experience here tonight and our waitor was the cherry on top of the experience. Very nice guy, excellent service. My husband and I both enjoyed our meals, the service was great, and the outdoor (covered) patio was comfortable. They had blankets available if you got chilly, but it was comfortable when we went in June. My husband had the hickory burger and I had the (GF) fish and chips. I can't speak for the burger, but my husband said it was delicious. The fish and chips were great! They used halibut (generous sized pieces too), Was not dry or heavily breaded, plus gluten free! Went here with a group of 5 was was very impressed with the meal. There was a bit of a wait to get a table as there was 5 of us and told it would be a 35-45 minute wait but it ended up only being about 10 minutes. I ordered the social soda and it was quite good however I felt there was a lot of ice in it and tasted a bit watered down for the price. I probably would not order that drink again. My friend got the Bellini and she expressed that it was quite tasty. My only critique on the experience would be that we watched our food specially my salad sit under the heat lamp for at least 10-15 min and even after all the food was ready it did not picked up to be given to us for about another 5 minutes. (This is why I bumped the review to 4 stars instead of 5). I would rather be given my food at different times then have a salad sit for 15 min, luckily it still tasted great! As far as food I ordered the crispy tuna ahi salad. I had been recommended this meal and decided to try and ordered it with extra dressing on the side. This salad ended up being probably the best salad I have ever gotten at a Resturaunt and I will be 100% ordering again. I have never been one for raw fish but the seared tuna was delicious and tasted very fresh and not fishy. My boyfriend ordered a pizza which he thought was pretty good, my friend ordered the dragon bowl and as she works at another browns location she noticed it was lacking the spicy yogurt it usually has and had to ask for some on the side. Another friend ordered the penne pasta which she said was a 9/10 only because she didn't like the garlic bread and my last friend ordered the western bowl which she enjoyed but felt was a bit too spicy for her liking. All in all the dinner was a success and the moral of this story is definitely to try the crispy tuna ahi salad as it will not disappoint! read more

Good so far, and while I'm new to this establishment I'm sure I'll be back. It's Wednesday afternoon and things are quiet, both here and at home (that's why I'm here). Being as I only came for a drink I'll only rate on that. Today is 'Rotating Taps' day, where you get a $buck$ off your beer so I chose the Bad Tattoo Vagabond Pilsner. Not generally a Pilsner person (say that 5 times fast) but I felt it deserved a shot. It's good, and while I'm also not one who rates beer I'd say I like this one. My previous experience with Bad Tattoo beers has been less that stellar so this was a nice treat. My server was prompt, very attentive, and cute. I know that sexism has no place here but let's face it these places own that pigeon-holing of servers. They wouldn't be here if they were not attractive. Call a spade as spade. Love it! I ate here tonight and had the chicken quesadilla with a house salad. The quesadilla isn't overly stuffed with ingredients so it holds together nicely and doesn't fall apart all over. The flavour is really savoury with delicious cilantro! The house salad was fresh and simple with a mild but flavourful house dressing. The place was packed but our wait to be seated was under five minutes and we were asked by 3 servers if we had been taken care of yet, very impressive for how busy it was. Everyone was very kind and friendly and our server, who's name I forgot but wore glasses and a ponytail, was very sweet and came around just enough. I'd definitely go back. It's busy, but the service doesn't lack one bit. Well done. read more

Amazing food and the service is alright. I used to go to Browns Social House in Kitsilano and always had an amazing experiance so I was excited when a Browns opened in Kelowna. Really cool layout. Love the outdoor patio. The food was up to par with the food in Vancouver. I would recommend either the Spicy Crispy Chicken Sandwich, Blackened Chicken Cowboy Salad or the Potato Crusted Cod Bowl. Only reason why I took away two stars is the music and our waitress. Last time I went the music was way to loud. I could barely hear anyone talk from across our table. My family said the food was great but because of how loud the music was they wouldn't be back. My grandmother was paying for our whole bill and she thought the machine didn't tip properly. When she noticed she gave our waitress another tip. The waitress didn't say anything about it but it was far too much to tip and I wish she would have just said something to my grandma. My grandmother noticed once she got home that the tip on the machine actually did go through and was a little annoyed that the waitress didn't question why she was giving her more money. Overall, I will be back just because I am obsessed with the menu and drink menu but I probably won't bring my family back. Maybe is just a place for a couple girlfriends to go to instead of a family enviroment. read more

We stopped here for dinner in our way to Big White. Service was great. Atmosphere was nice, possibly punching a little above it's weight. Food was very good. I ordered the poke bowl, which was darn tasty except for one thing. Instead of avocado, as advertised, it was served with a glop of guacamole. Not the same thing ! The bowl was tasty and would have been better with smooth avocado chunks. Others at the table got fish and chips, quite good with delicious coleslaw. The hickory burger was a hit. Finally, the "spicy" crispy chicken sandwich was good, but not at all spicy. Kids will like the fancy Shirley Temple. All in all, a good meal and nice place to take a pause. read more

The food at the Kelowna location is really disappointing. My first experience at a Brown's was in Lynn Valley, on Vancouver's north shore. The food was great. The Kelowna outlet is no match. Today I had the Sichuan Beef Noodle Bowl -- the vegetables were not fresh, and it was floating in a way too sweet hoisin style sauce. My wife had the Dragon bowl, and it too was not up to par. It was made with frozen beans, the broccoli was old, and as with my noodle bowl, there was way too much sauce. It appeared that the dishes were thrown together by someone with inadequate training and no real enthusiasm for good food. In contrast, the staff were great, and the restaurant is a great place to spend an hour or two. But the kitchen definitely needs attention! read more

Been there 3 times now, always on a Tuesday after 7 pm. The music is always far too loud, to the point that we need to shout at each other. The service is poor. First visit: We had a table of 5. My friend twice informed the server of her allergy; server says they spoke with the kitchen. When the order finally arrived, it was covered in the allergen. Meanwhile another friend was charged incorrectly for her drink. I asked for sautéed peppers in place of the offered sides & they were burnt black as night. When the server asked how they were, I said so, she laughed & walked away. Wasn't busy until we were done & leaving. Second visit: I asked for an extra ketchup for my order of fries but never got it. By the time the server finally returned, my fries were stone cold & she didn't have it anyway! Took forever to get the bill, yet it was dead in there. Third visit: Ordered tea & asked her to bring cream/sugar for it, as she had started walking away without asking. Server was very annoyed. 3 friends & I stayed for a couple of hours, having ordered nachos, a Bellini & a few beers as well. Katey, (server) was rude, obviously didn't care about helping us, about clearing the dishes or if we wished to order anything else. Again took forever to get the bill, and it wasn't busy, only a few tables out on the patio. 3 strikes, you're out; I feel we gave it a fair shot!
