I should be good to go! Thank you Penn State Dermatology and to the folks scheduling these appointments, for your hard work, your clinical approach to the work and to your kindness.

By Dr.Lam n Dr.Green ,thought it would be simple procedure. They did what was needed n I was to see a plastic surgeon for the official closing. But he was called in to the OR in an emergency. Now what ? I had gone home in the meantime ,as I had the start of a bad headache n needed to eat, that's when I got a call from Mohs, saying I should come back and they would close my open wound, not thinking much if it I did. That's when my night mare began as I sat in a chair for approx 3 hrs in sheer pain as my nose was litterly carved in my opinion ,as I was constantly injected with numbing meds n I ended up shivering uncontrollably from it. They stated it was a reaction, not because I was cold. I prayed to get out of that chair ,at the end I mentioned to them ," just because I am 68 doesn't mean I have no pride in my appearance, as I heard ok we understand. I left there with my left eye almost swollen shut n had to drive home myself, thank goodness I did not live far.Not once was I asked or told would need a driver or one to drive me home. Not once was I given options and found out later there are 9 plastic surgeon's there, so what happened to the other 8 ( were they on vacation) I learned those Dr's go for 3 yrs in surgery n a plastic surgeon goes for 12 yrs. I learned my wound was not life threatening n the closing could of waited a day or two for that plastic surgeon, but again was not given that option, I learned that what they did ,I should of been in the OR n under anesthesia period. I learned to ask more questions after this, worse day in my life n been in that much pain was ridiculous. Later I told her ,I wasn't happy about this, she stated well look at this way ,at least we got the cancer my response. Yes at what cost, your not the one to look in a mirror n cry all the time, she had nothing to say then. I was very depressed n pulling myself out slowly ,but again was told ,the feeling in my nose would take 2 months, it is now May n no I still don't ,the sides of my nose yes, the middle NO ! So if you have a wound larger then a pea......see n insist on a ,Plastic Surgeon ,pls !! I will bear these scars the rest of my life n will NEVER,NEVER go back to Moh's !!!

It always goes to voice mail, after a few days I finally got a hold of a nurse. I told her what was going on and she said it didn't need prior authorization. I have tried and tried calling back but no answer to my voice mails. I finally got through today but was told I had to leave a message. Why bother they won't return it. I'd like to give them negative stars.

I cannot say enough good things about Penn State Cancer Institute from the check in…read moreprocess, to the volunteers stationed to help patients, to the lab testing, to radiology and other examination processes and treatments to--especially--the Oncologists with whom I have dealt. I feel especially blessed & fortunate to have been sent by my family physician to Dr. Kevin L. Rakszawski. I expected that I would get a good doctor, but was blown away by Dr. Rakszawski and his colleagues/team. They treated me and my wife and our concerns with the utmost respect and dignity. They infused humor into a difficult process, and put us at ease. We were, frankly, scared. We didn't say so, but indubitably, he was aware. His knowledge, his calmness, and his bedside manner are second to none. I would HIGHLY recommend him and his team to anyone who needs to see a competent, thoroughly on top of the state of his/her profession professional. He zeroed right into our issue immediately, and was an excellent quarterback for the process we had to go through. My son is tangentially in the medical field in another state, and has access to physicians' ratings/education/experience nationwide. I asked him to look up Dr. Rakszawski and let me know what he found. Our son had wanted me to go to the Mayo Clinic, but after looking into Dr. Rakszawski and his rating from his peers/colleagues, he said, "Dad, it looks like you've found the best, stay with Rakszawski." I did and we are very glad and most grateful to him and his wisdom, technique, and sincere desire to help his patients. On a scale of 1 to 10, he is way off the scale, the best of the best.

He showed no empathy or even seemed like he cared about my pain. He wants me to try a peripheral nerve stimulator and didn't even tell me for sure if it was waterproof as I informed that my husband and I are going to Florida the end of December. He then said I have to find a pain management doctor in Florida or may have to fly back for them to check the stimulator which is only a trial run for 60 days. Then just shrugged his shoulders and told me then you will just have to fly back here. What a joke!! He had no good bedside manner!!! I am very disappointed in him. His assistant was a sweetheart and she spoke to me more than he did. He said he couldn't prescribe me anything for pain as I wait to see if my insurance will even cover the nerve stimulator. What is wrong these doctors today. They act as if they are God. He didn't treat my pain issue at all for the time being and I even informed him I am on my last day of pain medicine which was prescribed by my PCP for one week until I saw this very rude doctor!! I didn't even get all my questions answered. He walked away and never said anything else to encourage me. I bet if he or anyone in his family were in pain he would most likely not let them suffer in pain. His assistant who is a doc ... Dr. K ..... very professional and actually listened to me and then another staff called her out of my room as I was talking to her. She apologized that she had to leave and was so kind. I would rather her be treating me. She explained more than the Dr. V. I could write a book on this experience and not good. He could not even tell me who would perform the procedure And didn't explain it very well at all. I am a nurse and have been for 43 years And also work part time for Penn state. Our healthcare system is a wreck. All the caring doctors are retiring and I'm about to retire the end of November. My husband went to him years ago and never went back due to his arrogant personality And poor communication. I wanted to give him a chance and was referred to Penn state pain management but I have lost respect for Dr. V. Patients have the right to be treated for pain!!! Not everyone is seeking pain meds .... It doesn't make you an addict just because of chronic nerve pain with post traumatic left ankle arthritis due to an injury and a podiatrist . Dr. C who performed surgery on me in 2017 and cut and removed a nerve in my ankle that he said needed to be removed. i ended up with a neuroma on the lower lateral side of my left leg.... Never was I informed this could happen. I have been in pain ever since then. i also asked Dr.V in order to confirm it's a neuroma that should i have an MRI ? He said I have to go to another doctor to order that test..... he never even told me who to contact for an MRi. Then back to the peripheral nerve stimulator. I wanted to know why not do a radio frequency nerve ablation and the secretary told me he said he thought it may not work on my condition.... Yes the secretary had to go back and ask him because he left the room too fast so I told her I needed to know and she went back and asked him herself for me. So I can bet you I will get a bill from him and I am the patient who deserves to get answers while I am at the doctors appointment. I did not get proper treatment or answers to some pertinent questions..... anyway as I said he was not nice to me at all. I could never treat a patient as he treated me.... He acted like he was in such a big hurry to go nowhere. It's a shame that patients are getting treated so poorly.... At least I was.... as I said his assistant Dr. K was very nice to me , although Dr. V needs some lessons on bedside manner and kindness along with empathy and respect to his patients.

The wait time from when you check in to when you're back in the room is very fast. Drs listen very closely to your needs. They have helped me with my pain and I am so thankful for them
