I just got home from Bruce's office, and felt strongly compelled to leave this review not just for Bruce himself but also as a PSA (public service announcement) to all who are in need of criminal defense legal support. I further want to make it exceptionally clear that I am writing this review on my own free will and volition, and not only was I not paid for this review but he did not even request it of me. With that said, it is clear that my assessment is not only factual but in addition without bias. I left Bruce's office emotional specifically overwhelmed with gratitude. He was giving me a complimentary introductory session that I had asked for based on an advertisement letter received after I had gotten into my legal issue. What was probably supposed to take 20-30 minutes max turned out to be a 1-hour-long meeting where he helped me out pro-bono (meaning free-of-charge, after I told him I was short on cash due to an imminent career change), and I even got to know him on a personal level as we delved into a little international politics regarding parallels between the Vietnam War (my family's history) and what was currently happening in Afghanistan (our current affairs). Despite being placed on hold several times as he contacted colleagues to get my concerns assuaged, Bruce was persistent in getting me the peace-of-mind resolution I sorely needed (to answer the anxiety that many of us may know occurs when there are legal troubles held over our head). He contacted both the District Attorney's office plus the City Attorney's office to make sure we had all the information needed to make good follow-up legal decisions for me. Ultimately, we found out that my case was reduced from District Attorney to City Attorney and then outright rejected at the City Attorney level, so I was in the clear... I would not have gotten this educatory and clarifying information without Bruce, or it would have potentially costed a small fortune elsewhere. Honestly-speaking - if my case had required additional help, I would've stayed with Bruce the entire way. Not only is Bruce a good, kind man with a great, caring spirit, he is also beyond-comparison tactically-sound as a legal professional as I witnessed him navigate L.A.'s complex legal system from his desk let alone if in-person was required. Having a loved one or yourself getting arrested can be a stressful and trying time in one's life. Along with getting booked, your mailbox will be bombarded with solicitations from attorneys wanting your business. CHOOSE WISELY. Especially if you have something/someone to lose. Just remember that lawyers are a dime-a-dozen and many are simply good salespeople with law degrees. And many will get results, but fail in other realms of the transaction between yourself and the attorney. And unfortunately, this one is of that variety. DO YOUR RESEARCH. Go on Yelp. Don't be me. FACTS: PROS: -He was nice in our initial consultation -He got my case dismissed (but that result could've been had with almost any lawyer, according to a lawyer friend that I had spoke with AFTER) -He agreed to take me on as a client on a payment plan -He did give me a payment break after 1 or 2 long emails I had sent him expressing my frustration with his accounting (or lack of) and when I had revealed that I was now aware that he had overcharged me in comparison to many of his equal counterparts CONS: -Seemed annoyed that I had called him 2-3 days after my case was in court ( he said that he had told me to call after 12:30pm THAT DAY, but I don't recall so we agreed to disagree) -His office is pretty dodgy -He sent me invoices that had incorrect balance owing 3 times (2 via mail, 1 via email) -He didn't even apologize. Chalked it up to clerical error, and that "he was concerned more with the results" than bedside manner -When I came in to submit my final payment, he handed me the most ghetto dollar store receipt as "Proof of Payment". When I asked if I could have something more official looking, he actually suggested that I could have something drawn up and that he would sign it. So I have to hire another lawyer to deal with this one? REALLY? I get needing a lawyer that gets results. But he couldn't even acknowledge HIS MISTAKE? I understand that his profession may e difficult, but he needs a lesson in how to handle apologies with sincerity and grace. And now I know that there are lawyers that exist that can both get the job done AND not act above their client. I am one of the coolest people out there - I worked customer service for years. And this guy had me fuming once I walked out of the door for good. His demeanor was snarky and absurd, yet I still found it in my heart to actually wish him a good week. Lawyer is an overstatement. This guy is more of a scam artist. Not clear in his guidance at all. Try's for the easy way out instead of doing what lawyers are paid to do, which would be to fight for you and the truth. This guy really is like an insubordinate employee that will do the bare minimum to get a paycheck out of you. Would highly recommend to avoid this firm. The only time you'll receive a call from him in an urgent tone is when he needs more money to fulfill a request. He knows how to make money, I'll give him that, but you'll have to keep ethics at the door. He tried to convince me to hire an agent to take a polygraph exam and submit that as evidence in court. However the courts do not permit polygraphs as material yet Bruce tried to convince me otherwise. Pulling a fast one on his clients seems to be more his theme and he'll take any chance to do so. read more

I don't know where to start. This man saved my life. On February 17, 2017 I was arrested for DUI refusal in West Covina. I was not sure what to do I was very scared. Let me start off by saying, Bruce Richland is legit to the bone. I first met Mr. Richland 2009 for reasons we won't get into, let's just say, I needed help. Anyways, I had received consultation from several other law offices about what I should do about my legal woes. It was immediately apparent to me these guys were out for blood and money and had no real concern about keeping me a free man and so forth. I went to Bruce's office, met with him and instantly got a different vibe. There was a sense of truthfulness and respect I received from him That was lagging from the others. Not only that, he was willing to work with me on my budget and made me feel like he had a handle on this type of situation right away. I've recommended friends to him and they too have met with same results, success!!! He's got me out of several binds and there have been times where he has said straight up," these are your options" and not taken my money when he easily could have.
