Until recently, this was one of my favorite places to get a cold beer. The calm atmosphere and the great selection of beers was quite a draw for me. No more. Recently, I was very rudely addressed by a bartender there whose name begins with T. It was clear that he was not enjoying himself working that evening and apparently decided to take it out on the group of people I was there with. In the end, I got the biggest dose of his unhappiness. There are lots of places in this area to get a cold beer. Stopped in on a Wednesday during Happy Hour. It's been a few months since we were last here so there was a new bartender and she was really nice. There were 3 of us so I didn't keep track of what we drank, but my boyfriend I'm sure had an IPA, I had a sour and our guest had a cider. The problem was with the owner when me and a friend had walked in the owner who was serving us seemed Pre prejudice. who knows why, but I was the only Hispanic in there when I asked for a beer he had made sure that he made it very clear that it is expensive and if I was sure I wanted one ? Who does that ?And why would I be there if I couldn't afford to pay for a beer ? he didn't ask anyone else that before serving them. It seemed a bit rude and politically incorrect . I didn't really know how to reply to his question other than yes I'd like a beer and I'll pay for my friends as Well. You would think as an owner he'd want to greet new customers of any color or race by not asking them or informing them about how expensive a beer is before he serves it to them and as though I couldn't read the prices on the very large board of beer choices? I didn't see him asking anyone else that question or informing them of the prices that came to sit after me . It's not a big place but you can tell it's a very small town groupie place. It's very clear that they know their people there and I guess because he had not seen me there before who knows but I'd rather go elsewhere and give my business and my money to someone else at least to a place that isn't gonna look at me and let me know that there's a price range and I may not be able to afford it according to him. It's crazy to think that this could still be a thing and as a Hispanic or any other minority that could walk into a tavern and feel like this is horrible. If you want a good selection of beer and not much else, then this is the place for you. The bartender was very nice, but the atmosphere was quiet and a little depressing. They have TVs but no cable or satellite; it would be nice if they at least put on some old recorded games or something. The owner was there chatting with others and seemed like a nice enough guy. I was the DD so the only option other than beer/wine I was told was water. To eat they offer boneless wings (probably about the size of a chicken tender cut into 6 pieces breaded) which were decent, and also some frozen pizza that I did not think was worth it at all. I was told the owner has a strict "no substitutions" on pizzas so don't try to do half/half of anything. Yet, many of the other reviews are raving about the pizza... did it change at some point or are these just fake reviews? I don't know, probably a good local spot to grab a beer and chat with friends, but for me there are a ton of other place nearby with similar selections of beers, more drinks, food, atmosphere, and etc, so I'm not sure what would make someone choose to pick here. We've been waiting a long time for a local, neighborhood taproom to drop and Bruco is the perfect spot to grab a brew or glass of wine, and more. They have all of the best local (and other) craft beers on tap. They also carry a couple NA beers in the cooler as well. And okay, okay, I won't gate-keep any longer... their pizzas are delicious.
