While my wife and I were enjoying one of Andy's excellent BLT bagels today prior to an appointment at Mayo Clinic, we got to witness first-hand why this Bruegger's, in the Clinic subway, is rated #1. A gentleman with a service dog had a sudden seizure near us, and Theresa, the store's GM, immediately sprang into action. She handed another by-stander a cup of water to give to the man, while asking the kitchen crew to prepare a ham/egg bagel for him ASAP. All of this was happening while the early lunch line of nurses, doctors and Clinic patients were getting their to-go orders filled as efficiently as ever. We go to this location for lunch every time one of us has a Mayo Clinic appointment, and we have never once been disappointed. Thank you to Theresa and her crew. You guys are the best! read more

I am currently undergoing testing at the Mayo Clinic: my husband and I have been eating here every morning. Theresa is the manager and on top of in-person orders as well as Door Dash... She knows her regular customers by name and their orders. The bagels are fresh and we love the different breakfast sandwiches. They are quick, organized and the food is delicious! This location is convenient for Mayo Clinic patients. I had a mid-afternoon meal, the Hot Pastrami Bagel on my requested Asiago Cheese bagel, it was good and satisfying. Yes, it is in a small space and patients in wheelchairs, or crutches, will require family, or friend assistance. While the location is very convenient when visiting Mayo Clinic, I have been disappointed in the lack of cleanliness in this location. It is also a very small, cramped spot making it impossible to get in with a wheelchair. The bagels are yummy. read more

Success! After 3 visits to Rochester I finally tracked down this elusive spot of the venerable bagel outlet. After two failed attempts I had assumed it had closed or that the info on Yelp was out of date. Here's the secret: ITS IN THE SUBWAY LEVEL beneath us Bank (go down and behind the escalator-far from an ideal spot). This place is on the small side compared to the ones I'm used to in the Twin Cities but it seems to have all the usual stuff-a dozen or so types of freshly baked bagels, coffee, juice even breakfast sandwiches. The quality is up to par so if you can find them (or just want to go on a scavenger hunt) it's a great nook for breakfast or lunch. Recommended read more

Not sure if I just "lucked out" with bad service?...I decided to give this place a try due to the other good reviews. The girl was rude and seemed annoyed she had to take my order. She didn't toast either of my bagel sandwiches as requested. It tasted good but was very difficult to chew due to the hard bagels. The cold brew (which she made a fuss about having to make it) tasted horrible. Since she seemed so displeased to make it, I'm not sure if it's normally supposed to taste that way or not? Stopped in for a bagel sandwich at lunch time! I had a turkey sandwich on an onion bagel, and it was delicious!! LOVED the onion bagel itself - the flavor was fantastic, probably the best onion bagel i've ever had. It was also very chewy. And i'm a sucker for bagel sandwiches, I had a turkey with cheese. There wasn't much turkey on it, but whatevs. It worked. The line was quick, employees were quick and somewhat friendly. It was like $5 just for the bagel sandwich, which i guess is fair. Rochester recently closed one of its 2 Brueggers bagels. I drove to the downtown one as a treat because it's not convenient to get to. The bagels are not Brueggers bagels they are Einsteins bagels. They are terrible. Brueggers was the closest thing you could get to a real bagel around here and now they are serving Einstein bagels. So disappointing. read more

What is up at Bruegger's? I have bought bagels there for over ten years and they have quit answering their phone or taking orders. I first noticed this on Wednesday, March 4, 2020. It continues on March 5, 2020. You would think that a business concerned with their customers would have a recorded message to cover unusual situations. When I'm in town working for Mayo, I get breakfast here every day. The staff are extremely friendly to everyone and make you feel like they are glad you stopped in. As I watch them work, they talk to each other like they are all good friends and it's evident that they get to know all of their regular customers because they great so many people by their first name! This location is great if you are near the Mayo campus, especially in the winter since it is located in the subway connected to Mayo and the other shops. I really like the chicken tarragon salad sandwich. The service is usually very friendly and fast. They have a few tables if you decide to eat there. I've been coming to this location for over a year now. While the bagels are great, I must say the man that works here makes this place worthy of 5 stars. Since my first stop here his customer service has been exceptional. His positive attitude/energy alone are enough to bring me back every time. This is in the subway. The service is always efficient. I tend to go just for a cheesy bagel every now and again. My beverage of choice is a hot mocha which they do not have (only the frozen/blended mocha). This has resulted in 3 stars instead of 4. It is annoying having to go 2 places just to fix a morning craving for fat and carbs. ;-) Maybe I will up it to 4 if summer comes and I find myself enjoying the blended mocha. read more
