We read the reviews and it looked great. However, my father in law is disabled (19 back and neck surgeries) and is unable to stand for extended periods of time. There were available short stools (not for tables) and he was sitting on one while we waited. The woman at the front made him stand up and said it was the policy of the restaurant to provide seating to no one, including waiting disabled persons. We had to leave. Honestly, this seems illegal? Sadly I only came here on the last day in Barcelona. I walked in and could see the barista grinding beans for each individual coffee, a clean station and a look of consideration and care on his face. I was apprehensive but ordered a cortado and crossed all my bits. After almost a week without decent coffee, I could have wept when I drank it. It was excellent. Great healthy food in Barcelona. Great for brunch & brunch is my favorite! We tried the green veggie burger which had a great texture . The Chicken nachos that is really a sandwich and the perfect amount of seasoning, and the black waffle eggs Benny. SO BOMB. Every time I come to Barcelona I visit this place for breakfast several times. It's certainly my favorite in the city. Located in a quiet little street, it offers outdoor seating. Get ready to queue for a table as the place is busy on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Once seated, be sure to order the Eggs Benedict. They are as good as they can ever get. Also everything else they serve, from sandwiches to scrambled egg, is done with a lot of love and attention to detail. There's a high risk that you order too much, but that's ok - everything just tastes excellent. Dishes are freshly made and service is solid. Seriously delicious breakfast. We were so tired of eating the same things everyday while vacationing in Barcelona. I am from NYC..brunch is our thing! This place was AMAZING. This review is for the Brunch & Cake on c/ Enric Granados 19 as I have completely different (better) thoughts on Cup & Cake located a few blocks up towards Diagonal. First, I looooove the window seats on a rainy day or any day really where you can sit outside while still inside :) The decor is shabby chic with a warm ambiance. Tons to read (magazines, newpapers) which goes perfectly with their heavenly espresso. I like this place for a coffee break and a friendly (one of the waiters was extraordinarily nice) aesthetically pleasing environment. Buuut the food needs help and hopefully will improve with time. The red velvet cake was bleh without any special flavour and just not good. My partner, who loves anything cake, couldn't even finish it. The museli+yogurt were similar- below average. The creamy yogurt was ok but the museli tasted like the cheap flavourless flakes you buy at any supermarket. I'll have to try a few other things to see if we just happened to choose their weakest dishes but I can't bring myself to order more than coffee. In need of less pretentiousness and more attention to quality~ read more

We're staying right upstairs from this place and have gotten take out for a few days in the morning. Yes it's a really good breakfast and most of the staff are astoundingly nice and patient given the intense popularity. Although there are so many fantastic restaurants in Barcelona, here they serve sort of Euro-American style and they do it very well. It's even very reasonably priced. I kind of want to hate this place given the trendy hipster crowd that's always outside and if it wasn't so convenient to where we're staying, a 40 minute wait would be a deal breaker, but there's at least a few cute people to flirt with while hanging around. read more

Presentation is everything here. I'm not saying the food isn't good, but smothering anything in a ridiculous amount of hollandaise sauce can make anything taste amazing (but was also a bit too much). My husband and I were super excited to try this place! The pictures looked amazing and we could not what to try it. We waited for about 35 minutes. Not a big deal. While we waited we saw many people disappointed about their food and sending things back. We hoped it was just a bad server. When we sat down it took about 15 minutes for a server to greet us. We ordered drinks and food right away. I ordered from the back of the menu, and made sure to ask the waiter if they had that menu option available and he reassured me that they did. I ordered the scrambled eggs on toast with turkey and bagel. Our drinks didn't get brought out until our food was ready. And low and behold.. I got The wrong dish. I got lox on a bagel with poached eggs. I told the waiter I asked for scrambled and he took my plate away to only bring it back cold saying they didn't have scrambled eggs.. Long story short, the food was pretty tasty, but we would not go back due to extremely bad service. read more

If you have a sweet tooth you are in the right place! My roommates and I started a tradition where we would order a piece of cake to share and eat it before our meal. The red velvet cake and cookies and cream cake are incredible! I am a brunch person and I was so happy to find this restaurant. The first time I went I got the Eggs Benedict on a waffle. Although I think this was a really good dish I wasn't a huge fan because I love the savory taste of regular Eggs Benedict! That being said the Eggs Benedict on a waffle is a little too sweet for me! I have gone a few times since then and I can say that my favorite dish is simply the eggs bc they have potatoes made right in them! Amazing breakfast. I got chorizo and ratatouille with eggs. My friend got french toast with berries. I tried his french toast. I don't know exactly what caused this, but it tasted absolutely wonderful. It was just so fresh and robust and tasty. Possibly the best french toast I've ever had. Absolutely love this place, it's pretty much my dream brunch place. I had an amazing ricotta hot cake with halloumi, avocado, smoked salmon and two poached eggs. It's 7 hours later and I'm still not hungry. It was so delicious and a really big portion for 9 quid. I added the eggs so that was an extra 1.50. Washed down with a yummy iced latte. The decor is cosy and I was really impressed with the staff. They were run off their feet but kept on top of things and even managed to be polite to a really difficult and demanding customer sitting beside me. A++. If you'd like to be in a company of many international folks and have a craving for a more (American) brunch then this is the place. It has a nice vibe and feel inside the cafe as well as by the outside seating. Know that outside seating is extra 10% service charge. Eggs Benedict with turkey ham on waffle was a great dish, although a little too much sweetness (maybe it was in the caramelized bottom of the waffle or some sweet butter or something that was sweet with the egg dish). Blueberry jam on top of the buffalo ricotta cheese on a brioche. Brioche square was a bit dry and big for the serving and overpowered the sweet "sandwich" that it was. Hot chocolate tasted like it was out of a packed with Hershey syrup that settled to the bottom of the cup - definitely not a hot chocolate I'd order again. read more

Between my visits to London, Paris, and Barcelona, Barcelona won me over on a big part because of this place. My 3 American friends all agree this place lived up to its expectation. We found this place on Yelp and with a few reviews and high ratings we were unsure about it. However, our experience quickly removed all doubt. The french toast, is to melt for. Their eggs on a waffle, equally delicious. Oh and I can't forget to mention the thirst quenching fresh squeezed orange juice. It sounds like a cliche, but even though their dishes are fairly simple ones they make them right. SO, I have to preface this by saying that we were really hungry when we stopped in, but we were still confident in saying that this was one of the best things we've ever eaten. I had the scrambled eggs and potatoes, with thinly sliced salted ham on a long piece of delicious olive oil-dribbled bread. The eggs were less dry than the traditional American style scrambled eggs, and they were *delicious*. Thinly sliced potatoes scrambled into them. Tasty. The real show stopper was the French toast, which I also tried a few bites of. It was beautifully covered in fresh fruits and several people around us all gawked at it in wonderment. And it tasted at least as good as it looked. I may just have to move to Barcelona to get more of this. Also had the avocado and feta dip, and the mixed-fruit yogurt smoothie. They're both good, but at €4 each my personal cost-benefit analysis says that I maaaay skip them next visit...and I WILL definitely be visiting again. read more

The Experience Was in town for the weekend and found Brunch & Cake on Yelp. It had good reviews and the food looked good. When I arrived to the restaurant, there were 10 people waiting outside. There was a friendly woman taking reservations and I asked her the wait time. She said 15-20 minutes, so I put my name on the list for 1 person. 40 minutes later, I got an awkward table at the window. The chair was too high for the table, so I couldnt get as close as I wanted to. 10 minutes later, two group sat at the surrounding tables. A gentleman immediately took their order, but past me up. 20 minutes in, I had to ask the receptionist to take my order, which she happily did. The Food I ordered the waffle eggs benedict with turkey and a chai latte. The chai arrived in a big mug that was full of milk, with a tea bag hanging off the side. No good The waffle benedict arrive luke warm/cold, with an overly sugary waffle. The eggs we cooked to my liking and the turkey was nothing to write home about. There was a mini salad with hazelnut that I found delicious. Overall This was a bad experience for me. I usually can see the bright side in things, but this was ridiculous. Although the place was cute, the food from other tables looked great, I would not recommend this place. read more
