Uhhh I believe I just had the best Ribeye in years. Tucked away in the Chino Hills Shoppes $45 buys you a perfectly cooked 16 oz grass fed grain finished rib eye steak. I've dropped a lot of cheddar at many fancy high-end steakhouses (list available on request) in my more than 7 decades but few come close to this quality. Clean, no frills. Order at the counter but served by the knowledgeable lady who took the order. Asparagus side was OK but I wasn't there for the vegetables. No expensive wines, no $18 Old Fashioneds, no garlic sourdough bread or $25 crème brûlée, no leather booths, just a great steak. You might be put off by the price but $48 for the Ribeye, $9 for the asparagus. With tax steak dinner for two = $122.84. At this high level of quality you can't touch this at The --------------- or ---------'s. It made me realize how much extra we pay for an experience. read more

It was their 1st year anniversary today and they were giving out some generous free samples to the community. They had Brisket sandwich with Mac n Cheese topped with BBQ sauce. AND they were having a 25% sale in the shop. The people handing the food were really friendly! The brisket was really good! It was very tender and it was delicious. I mean it was free and the portion was, again, really generous. The Mac N Cheese was really cheesy and the pasta was cooked to perfection. Our kids especially loved the Mac N Cheese. Bought meat here about 3 times -- not coming back after our last purchase. We paid $400 for a little less than 2lbs of Wagyu and were extremely disappointed when we got home to find that much of the weight was inedible bone, tendon, and fat. The Wagyu was a special treat for one of our anniversary dinners but felt like $150 worth of our money just went to complete waste. We've bought Wagyu here before (the pre-packaged thinly sliced version) so we were expecting that 2lbs would be the same, just thicker, so the inedible parts were a disappointment to us. There's also a different butcher working each time and I'm skeptical of the level of skill each employee has. Doesn't seem like this is their specialty profession and rather they're hired with maybe minimal prior experience? Just my speculation there - could be totally wrong. They say they are family-owned and operated but the way the store runs gives me more of a commercial feel. Going to be looking elsewhere for my future meat needs. read more

I love all things MEAT, so I've been eyeing this place since they opened. Parking on that side of The Shoppes can be a bit rough so I haven't ducked in before today. The place is a meat lover's HEAVEN. I could spend an hour just eyeing all of the beautiful cuts in their display cases. Gorgeous steaks, Wagyu, dry aged, and all of them high end restaurant quality. Amazing looking selections for charcuterie boards, and they also have a very cool selection of unusual deli items in jars, packages, and a dispenser jug of olive oil. I ordered the pastrami sandwich and it was to die for. The bread was spectacular, grilled before putting the sandwich together and it came with an offering of sides like mac and cheese, pasta salad, etc. And the service was excellent. It said it was on Ciabatta, so I wasn't expecting the bread to be as soft or as thin as it was, but it tasted great. My husband had the daily smoked sandwich, which was brisket. It was piled high and I tasted the meat-- it was very tender and flavorful. I enjoyed the pasta salad (though--just personal preference--I wish it had less peppers. There was a lot, and I'm not a fan of them. The rest of the pasta salad was great, though!). My husband got the Mac & cheese, which was (sadly) nothing special. For years, as it was near my home, I have been a devoted customer of The Butchery in Costa Mesa/Newport Beach - which was and is the standard, set apart from the rest. Then I found Brunk's Butchery in Chino Simply put, the quality/preparation/presentation/delectability of Brunk's meats and how they're put into sandwich form has been perfected here. From showcase, to cut, to preparation, and then to your plate - all in one place - the total experience at Brunk's is special. The Japanese Waygu A5 filet is my buttery favorite, the prime tenderloins and the tomahawk/cowboy steaks are certainly a welcome treat. But lately I've taken a liking to their ample-sized sandwiches - their delicious turkey and roast beef - which are very price-friendly as well. Butcheries are making a nationwide comeback, as more people are realizing the importance of the quality of meats. Brunk's Butchery is one of those that is spearheading this resurgence. Didn't know what to expect. What a pleasant surprise. There were four of us looking at the menu. We couldn't order off the dinner menu because it's for the weekend. But the selections off the sandwich side was plenty. Each of us ordered something different and shared. Pastrami sandwich, rib eye steak sandwich, Butchers Baked Potato, and finally marinated bbq short ribs. Everything was so tender, well seasoned and generous portions. Ordered the smoked sandwich and they told me after that they had no more smoked meat and only offered me a burger as replacement (I did not want a burger). I am only writing in hopes the owner sees this. I was parked outside of the establishment in one of the stalls reserved for customer with my son and elderly uncle (I am a caretaker of his). I was in the car for some time just trying to wake my son up when I got a phone call and stepped out the car to answer it. There were some kids skateboarding directly beside my car so I took a few steps to get out of their way when a woman came up to me yelling saying that she was the owner and I needed to leave. I told her I fully intended to go into her establishment, she continued yelling at me, claiming she didn't care, she saw me going inside Panera and I needed to leave. Considering how packed the lot was, I can understand you feeling stressed but I personally don't feel it's ever necessary or okay to yell at patrons. Took half an hour to get an Italian sub and roast beef sandwich 3. Sandwiches were dry and for a butcher shop, very little meat in the sandwich. For the price we paid, you would think they would add more. Nothing special about the sandwich to even consider a repeat visit. Save your self money and time. We show up to the restaurant and three of the beers that they advertise on draft is currently tapped out. It's a little frustrating because the tap handles are still there, but none of it is available. We begin to order and they don't have any of the smoked meat options available, which was the reason why we went there. It was only our group and one other table at the restaurant, and I saw that the other table was eating the ribeye steak sandwich. It looked delicious! So I ordered the sandwich and my party of six waited over an hour for our meal to arrive. For the entire period the cook had nothing else to cook other than our food. When it arrives, the ribeye steak sandwich looks completely different and is more like a flank steak. Super thin! One of my friends at the table has ordered that ribeye steak sandwich before and she said that it looked extremely different from what they've seen before. So I asked the waitress if the size of the meat was typical for that sandwich and she said yes. If she was telling the truth, it definitely wasn't worth $28 but all evidence points to her lying, probably because the chef was so underprepared. Oh! And I forgot to mention that our side dish of fries took another 20 minutes after our meal was ready to arrive. Once again, we were the only people at the restaurant! How long does it take to cook fries? I was very excited to go to this restaurant because I heard great things and I was extremely disappointed. Hidden gem! (It's next to Panera bread in the Chino Hills Shoppes) There's a mini restaurant inside this butcher shop. We got the tri tip and Classic Burger. Tri tip is great. Everyone in our group devoured it, especially our picky kids! The Classic Burger is to die for. The bacon jam is unbelievable and really elevates the burger. So much so that I told them they NEED to sell it (and hopefully they do). I would definitely buy it. HIGHLY recommend this burger. It's seriously a gourmet burger at a very reasonable price. Had to edit the review... how could I forget the delicious pickle spear that comes with the burger?! Needless to say, it was amazing! Family owned and operated, and the service was great.
