Glad there's a 99 Ranch by my daughter's volleyball clinic so I can kill 2 hours grocery shopping every week after I drop her off at practice. The 99 Ranch closest to my house are both in Arcadia, with the newest one at the Santa Anita mall, but good luck with ever finding a parking. Overall, they offer very good pricing on their items. They always offer things on sale, which is a huge plus. However, I do feel 99 Ranch in Chino Hills isn't as clean and organized as their other locations or their competitors such as 168. They don't really offer much customer service here, especially if you don't speak Mandarin. I have witnessed customers struggling to get help from the non-English speaking Staff. The overall, I rate 99 Ranch Market in Chino Hills a 6/10. read more

Terrible experience. The place is definitely a lot cleaner than other Asian supermarkets, but they don't have as large of a variety of options. The produce is decent, but the protein options are quite limited. A majority of the fish and meat are precut and wrapped on styrofoam plates waiting in the fridge section. Our experience was okay up until we interacted with our cashier. She scanned our items, but didn't even offer any bags. We had to ask her for one, and she just tossed the bag at my sister. My sister was loading the already scanned items into our cart when the cashier demanded that my sister hand her the jar of salt sitting in our cart. She had already scanned the jar of salt, which is why my sister placed it into the cart, but the cashier decided to scan it again. The cashier didn't even bother asking us whether she had scanned it yet or checked the register to see if it was already in the system. She just assumed that we didn't place it on the conveyor belt and were trying to steal it. My sister and I knew for certain that she scanned it twice, so when we checked the receipt - LOW AND BEHOLD, there it is. The item appears twice on our receipt. The cashier was ringing up items for other customers and clearly saw us waiting at the end, but completely ignored us. We were obviously standing there and holding up the line, but she still chose to ignore us and didn't bother to ask us if there was anything wrong or why we hadn't left yet. After about 5 minutes, I finally grabbed her attention, and she didn't even apologize or admit her mistake. She just continued to ignore us as if we weren't there. Another staff member had to help me out and reverse the charge. Ridiculous. Why are people like this? What's the purpose of being rude and disrespectful to other people? What are you trying to achieve? Don't you want people to have a pleasant experience when they come to your place of business? I don't get it. Garbage employee. Never coming back. read more

I like getting seafood here because I can't find it elsewhere. But asking them for a price on the phone is nearly impossible. Their phone operators don't speak English and it's hurting their sales. I wanted to know the price of snow crab legs, but I was hung up on because they didn't understand me. I called back and another person didn't understand. I was craving seafood so I went somewhere close to my home. They did not have what I wanted so I yelped the nearest market with seafood 99 Ranch Market showed up. 14 minutes to get there. When I walked in you can see all these packed dim sum on a table. I got haw go, siu mai, chive dumpling, marinated tendon, 1/2 a roasted duck and chinese tamales. I was in the Chino Hills neighborhood. I needed a jar of chili garlic sauce for the spring rolls I was making for a luncheon the next day and some Asian BBQ sauce for my eldest daughter to dip her meats. Luckily, this 99 Ranch Market was nearby. Hence, I drove on over from where I was at. It took me less than 5 minutes. Yay! Thank you!! It was in the evening. Parking spots were abundant. Parking lot lighting was slightly dimmed... they could use more lighting. Store was bright and clean. Staff was okay. Service was quick. This was a no-nonsense visit. What does it mean? It means... I entered the market, walked straight to the applicable aisle(s) where the goods were located, grabbed the jars of stuff, headed to the registers, paid for the stuff, walked straight out, and drove away to head home. I shopped here ever since it first opened in Chino Hills. I am usually shopping here whenever I need an item to make any homemade Asian dishes. Sometimes, I will pick up a fish from the seafood department. I love making Asian dishes using the Rice Flat Noodles. Once you open the package, you must cook it the same day or use it within 2 days. Once in a while I like to pick up cupcakes from the bakery section. It is very light and fluffy. It goes perfect with teas. Service is good and friendly staff. read more

It also has a good hot food, sushi and bakery section especially if you want to pick up a quick meal or snack. It can be difficult to communicate with the employees since the majority of the staff does not speak English so if you are looking for a specific item it is the hard to get assistance. 9/10/24 Great Asian inspired grocery store at the Chino Spectrum Marketplace. They also have individual vendors of cooked food inside this store. It's like a one stop shop. I like this location, it's well stocked with most of the Asian veggies & fruits that I regularly purchase, that's convenience! Additionally, the whole store looks clean & organized. Primarily, I was looking to buy oxtail to make kare kare, it's a Filipino dish that can be described as a stew made with peanut butter. To this I will add beef stew meat as well. This is one of Hubby's favorite dishes. The layout is well designed. Although it was a new store for me, the flow felt like it made sense. I was able to find items that I needed in a timely manner without having to go around in circles searching for what I needed. Surprisingly checkout was a breeze. It wasn't busy at all on Tuesday evening around 8 pm. I DO wish that there would be a staff assigned to assist with bagging the groceries though. I brought my own bags and ended up bagging my own purchases. Thankfully I only had 2 bagfuls of groceries. Parking is shared among the many businesses at this marketplace so it potentially be an issue during peak hours. Nearby shops include: Daiso, TJMaxx, Homegoods, Dicks Sporting goods, Islands, Michaels, Ross, Juice it Ip, Pieplogy, Hawaiian bbq & Lee's Sandwiches just to name a few. This is the second time I bought fish and had them deep-fried, and once again it turned out dry and lacking in moisture, making it unappetizing. The first time was two years ago, and it was the same situation. This time, I specifically told the chef to fry it for just three minutes to avoid burning it. The chef confidently said it wouldn't burn, and I even reminded him when the time was up not to fry it any longer. However, he insisted on continuing to fry it, saying it had to be cooked through. Today, I realized the reason: the foreign chef understands that frying fish means cooking it thoroughly to eat it right away, while we Chinese people deep-fry fish with the intention of taking it home for further cooking. read more

This branch I visited totaled 38 check-ins....i used to visit here a lot. Service: 4/5...,lines can be some what long at all times, but they get moving quite quickly. Still don't like wait time. Food: I stocked up on Taiwanese instant noodles and Lychee Jelly.....both items delish!!!! Ambiance: it's just like a regular Asian supermarket....same as all other 99 Ranch branches. I came here specifically for some cracker snacks that I was craving. I also found some Matcha green tea packets so I can mix with hot water or milk in the mornings. The Matcha must've been in the wrong spot because the price was showing about five dollars when I saw it. When I went to ring it up, It was about $11. I really wanted it so I just ended up taking it but I highly doubt I'll buy that same package again since it's a bit expensive to me. Dear 99 Ranch Market Management, I am writing to formally express my concern and disappointment regarding an upsetting incident that occurred at your Chino Hills store (2959 Chino Ave, Chino Hills, CA) on May 29th between 2:30 and 3:00 PM. While my wife was attempting to check out, she noticed a sign at one of the cashier stations that was turned backward and unreadable. She politely asked the cashier if she could check out there. To our surprise, the cashier responded in a rude and angry tone, saying, "There is a sign -- can't you read it yourself?" Feeling humiliated and disrespected, my wife quietly put her groceries back into the cart and proceeded to another cashier to complete her purchase. I was on the phone at the time and witnessed the entire exchange. After checking out, I approached the information desk to speak with the store manager. The employee pointed to the same woman who had spoken to my wife so rudely and said her name was Catherine Tu -- although I can't confirm whether this is her real name. Even more concerning, when I asked other staff members to confirm her name, none of them were willing to speak up. This left me with the impression that employees may be working in an environment where they feel intimidated or fear retaliation. As a long-time customer of 99 Ranch Market, I find this type of behavior -- especially from someone in a managerial role -- completely unacceptable. Both customers and employees deserve to be treated with respect, and this experience was deeply disappointing. I respectfully request that this matter be investigated and that I be informed of any actions taken to ensure this does not happen again. I would NOT shop there for sure. read more

Review of the takeout area: They have a really confusing sign that says portions cannot be "duplicated" for the 2-item or 3-item combo. I wasn't sure what it meant so I asked if I could do double orange chicken. I was told, "No," which I was 100% OKAY with. (I figured that's what the sign meant.) There was so much (a whole mountain) of it but the lady did not scoop me as much of it as she did for the country tofu (which they were running out of) and broccoli. I used to go to 99 Ranch on my lunch break years ago when I worked close by. Loved the premade bowls, the sushi, the combo plate hot food section. It always tasted fresh. I have recently bought stuff from thw hot food combo plate section and also the premade bowls on different occasions. Why does the food smell and taste like its gone bad or on the verge of going bad? I bought the duck over rice bowl and also the crispy pork rice bowl. The rice and accompanying vegetables had already gone bad, the rice having that spoiled layer of slime on it. And the combo plates, the chow mien smells like it gone bad too. As for the sushi, they would have the clearance sushi, the ones they want to clear out because its older and so they tape up two sushi platters but you only pay for one. The rice was also pretty bad too. And i also feel that clearance sushi combos goes back on the shelf the next day cause why would they have them there early in the day. I remember back then even their clearance sushi was really good. So disappointing, especially when that used to be one of my goto spots. read more

In the search of Wasabi and Soy sauce, I found this location. The 99 Ranch market is located inside the Cravings location. Very spacious, and organized. Me being none asian, I was amazed and very shocked of all the seasoning and sauces Asian cuisine has. They have lots of Japanese and Asian candy that I have never imaged existed. Its like you're in another world of culture. After searching all isles on purpose I found my Wasabi paste and Soy sauce. While walking in the Seafood section I came across a plate of Salmon sashimi! I'm a sucker for sashimi, so I bought it and enjoyed ever piece of it. Fish was fresh and tasty! Overall a nice Asian marker,very organized and well assisted. Drove back to the store and had to explain to 3 different people to finally get a refund. No apology was given at all. They thought I was kidding when I told them it is raw, and had to take off their glasses and took a close look to make sure I wasn't lying. I understand people make mistake and might have taken the ribs out of the oven too soon, but after telling 3 of the employees that it's raw, they didn't even care. My recent visit was on Sunday, 11/14/21. I come to this 99 Ranch frequently; this location brings back so many memories. Very close to home and convenient drive. However, this location is very pricey and has limited options compared to other 99 Ranch stores. I recommend the one located in Rowland Heights. So crazy, the Tiger Cake Roll is smaller now and costs $13.99!! Back in the day, it was half the price and bigger! Veggies are expensive too. Everything is going up nowadays. They do have a seafood dept located in the back where you can fry fish. They also sell ready-to-eat meals like sushi, rice bowls, etc. read more

This review is for the food deli. I come to this store only if I can not make it to the Asian stores in Westminster but I have not been very happy. This is the 3rd time I got my BBQ ducks here that are still bloody and not cooked all the way. They cut in the back so I don't see them. I would appreciate if they were to let me know so I could pick other ducks instead. Its not as bad if I were to bring the ducks home to eat because I have the stove and microwave but its horrible when I have to bring bloody meet for potluck at the park. I went in today and the item I bought was exactly 1 lbs but when I went to pay ,the lady scale at the register was 2.11lbs . I notice something weird I went back to another lady and ask her to weight it and she said it's 2.14 wtf ..??why is every scale there is so off .I noticed the registers scale is always more . This happen to my coworkers too so I'm not the only one. I won't be returning n telling everyone I know there scale is sketchy . This review is for cashier YUANXIA SO who has extremely bad attitude. On Sep 29th, I was just buying one small item that costs $4.49. I gave her a $10, she asked me rudely do I have a $5? I kindly said no, but I can pay by the credit card instead if you don't have change. Then she gave me another mean look for no reason and said another No! And then she started to go crazy keep slapping my $10 cash bill hard on the counter multiple times! People behind me were like what the heck... Then she was being super unwillingly giving me the exact change from the drawer, as if these are the money from her own pocket! Lastly, she dropped the receipt on her side of the counter and refused to pick it up. I had to reached my hand down to grab my receipt. So from the beginning to the end, she had the exact change and was just unwilling to give it out. And she gave me really bad attitude as if it's customer's fault by paying cash!!! Each cash register only has two social distancing stickers, so the rest of the line (which was 4-6 more parties of people) are just left to jumble up together in the halls of the grocery store. No social distancing in line whatsoever! No only that,l... because of the jumbled line, several customers were confused and cut several other customers in line. So unorganized. This is worst I've seen from any grocery store. There were no employees to regulate anything about the line, and on top of that? There were employees BUMPING INTO ME in the hallways???? I came to this 99 ranch market back when I was visiting my mum's cousin and was staying in the house of a friend of my mum's and this was one of two go-to 99 ranch markets. This was 12 years ago. Back then I really liked the selection of items this store had. I got everything I needed including a few good cakes that tasted really Devine. I love the small town charm that comes with this place. My mum's cousin bought a Zojiroshi water pot here in 2010 and it still works like a charm. Let's go A's sorry Dodgers fans but Zojiroshi uses an elephant too and you should respect it. Now for the bad news. I came here again in 2015 and it was not a good experience. Why? When I got to the door the area around it is messy. Nobody actually cleaned the outside or doused it with a hose. There was trash everywhere. However I would still come here again despite its flaws read more
