Venturing out, by looks alone you can see they pack it up pretty well. Few scoops of rice, your Mac salad, and self serve sauce (if you're a sauce lover it's perfect). There are those times where you see a picture and you just know the food was good, this was absolutely one of those times. The meats were warm and tender, no rubbery texture or hard to pull. The sauce put the cherry on top, and for the price I was blown away. It has since been added as part of my regular going out list, and I'm mad I didn't try anything else sooner. It's unbelievable that in 2026, with AI everywhere, 2 nm chips on your phone, and self driving taxis on the road, this restaurant is still putting food straight off a scorching hot griddle into Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) foam containers. The foam visibly softened and melted wherever it touched the food. They didn't even bother to put a layer of aluminum foil between the food and the container. EPS is not designed for food at this temperature. Once it starts softening and melting, chemicals from the plastic can migrate into the food. This isn't acceptable food handling. Heat resistant containers cost very little, so the only explanation is they're too cheap to use the right packaging. I won't be back until they stop cutting corners. read more

Why is it placed so close to the meat where the juices from the meat are combining with it? For the prices they charge here, they're not investing in better containers to put the food in. I'm not sure how long their sauces have been around too, but it's ok. Placed our order and waited. The owner brought us this tasty sugar coated what essentially is a doughnut ball for us to snack on while we waited for our order. That was unexpected and really welcomed by my two "always hungry teenagers". My son ordered the two item combo and i feel that is really a great deal for about $14 you get to choose two proteins. I had a really disappointing experience with Young Hawaiian Barbecue in Chino. I ordered delivery and spent over $31+, but when I asked for six cups of katsu sauce, they said I could only get three. In the past, even at the store, they have the sauce available on the counter wide open, but this time, it felt really stingy. It's frustrating because I couldn't fully enjoy my meal. The Family meal clearly states 3 meats, macaroni salad and 10 malasadas. When I got there, they said that I don't get the malasadas. I showed her the menu, but she said with confidence that the malasadas are not included. She said she'll ask the Owner later. There's a section online that asks "How can we make this right?" Perfect for those looking for a protein boost. The meat was tender, moist & very flavorful. What I like the most is that the meat is not dripping with sauce because they don't pour anything on it. You need to put the sauce on your own. They have a dispenser with warmed sauces, bbq, teriyaki & katsu. Don't forget to grab some if you're eating to go. Sticky rice was perfect & macaroni salad classically made. Add a bit of shoyu & you are set. Only one gal working the counter, she seemed somewhat distracted but she took my order correctly. It didn't taste like much, but I was very glad I got sauce to flavor it with. The teriyaki didn't add too much flavor, but the bbq sauce added a pretty good amount. It still could have used salt. I am a weak man who is easily swayed by public opinion, and it almost scares me to see so many bad reviews at a place I adore. But I must persevere and sing the praises of this store that has satiated my previously thought insatiable bbq itch. Don't get me wrong, this place isn't some fancy high class location.
