We enjoyed walking around and seeing a wide variety of food options! The whole market area was clean and organized when we got there at 9am. No lines yet. Long lines did start forming around 9:45am when the hot foods were ready but moved pretty quickly. We tried: * The Ginger Pig - Traditional Sausage Roll * Wild Mushroom Risotto - Spelt Risotto with Truffle Shavings * Turnips Greengrocer - Chocolate Covered Strawberries * The Black Pig - The Best One With Crackling * Turkish Deli - Turkish Delight & Turkish Coffee * Bread Ahead - Crème Brûlée Donut

You'll find…read moreeverything from cooked and fresh seafood, fresh fruit, juices and smoothies, artisan cheeses, sauces, and cuisines from all over the world, including Chinese, Thai, Italian, Indian, Korean, American, and so much more. With so many tempting options, it's honestly hard to decide what to eat. One thing I really appreciated was that many vendors offered samples, so you could try before you buy. During our visit, we sampled the famous chocolate covered strawberries, paella, and wild mushroom risotto. I also bought the Black Pig Honey Truffle Parm sandwich. The chocolate covered strawberries were exactly what you'd expect, fresh strawberries coated in chocolate. If you enjoy that classic combination, you'll probably love them, but they weren't anything particularly special to me. The paella had great flavor, but the rice was a little undercooked for my taste, so I wasn't a fan of the texture. The wild mushroom risotto was the standout. It was rich, creamy, packed with earthy mushroom flavor, and had an excellent texture. It was easily one of my favorite bites of the day. I also tried the Black Pig Honey Truffle Parm sandwich. The bread was fantastic, crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside, and the fennel apple slaw added a refreshing crunch. Unfortunately, the pulled pork was very dry. I think it would have been much better if the pork had been kept warm in its own juices instead of continuing to cook on the griddle. That would have kept it moist and tender. As it was... the pulled pork was dry as hell. :) One thing every vendor had in common was friendly and welcoming customer service. Despite how busy and crowded the market gets, the atmosphere is lively, energetic, and full of people enjoying great food. It's definitely a must-visit for anyone who loves trying a variety of foods in one place.

As one might expect from a market that takes place in a school playground it is pretty small affair. It is exclusively a food market. There are around 12 stalls selling meat, cheese, fish, vegetables and juices. In contrast to other markets there is little food to eat as you walk (pies etc.) so best to visit for staples if you live in the area. There are a good selection of quality items; the juices are particularly good. This farmer's market isn't spectacular but nonetheless sells good stuff and worth visiting if you're a local.

I recommend the tomato guy, the goat cheese, the fresh eggs, the sausages and of course the Flour Power brownie. It can get a bit crowded, especially in the summer, but it is manageable. And hit the cash machine before you go--I can easily spend 40£ here (I am a sucker for the buy 2 discount!) I wish someone would put up a good coffee/latte stand at the market! I love strolling with my morning latte and there is no good place around there for coffee. Plus every farmers market should have a good coffee stand. I wish I could get Blue Bottle over on this side of the pond....

This is a lovely market on Thursdays (if you can get there before all the students descend!)…read more They sell veggies, meat pies, bread, home made quiches and tarts, ...and as well as the fresh food to take home, there are also loads of street stalls for lunch. A while ago I tried some looovely paella. Today I had a gooorgeous sandwich that was basically a mountain of beautifully cooked lamb with sweet chillie sauce, balanced on salad and ciabatta. It was sooo goood!! Next time I really want to try the hog roast with apple sauce. The only bad thing about this market is it is located between SOAS, Birkbeck and ULU...and is around the corner for UCL. So once the University year has started, you have to wait in line for quite a long time for the yummy food! Doh!!

And interestingly enough, the traders here are NOT the same old same old you get at all the other outdoor food markets. It is a refreshing change. A nice balance between ready to eat foods and groceries/take home products like bread, veg, raw meat, etc. Last time I had some fresh twisty pasta with walnut pesto, parmesan, and radicchio and it was REALLY good. It was like £4 or so, which is a good deal in my book. I'll certainly be back on another sunny day.
