The only one I could get was 7:30 p.m. After reading other reviews on the day of the appointment, I called to make sure I was on the calendar. "No problem. We have you down for 7:30." It was not 10 minutes later they called and cancelled because my person suddenly became unavailable. I rescheduled for the next day with the person who called to cancel (which amazed me since online there were no appointments). About two hours before the next appointment, I received a text saying I would need to call to reschedule as my new person was unavailable. I told them that in the words of Emily Litella, "Never mind!"

Devon did my nails and he was great - wonderful conversationalist, great calf massage. He was nervous about painting my nails, but did a great job. A few things to note, their nail colors were very limited, thankfully I'm not picky so it wasn't a big deal. I also had an appointment and had to wait almost 30 minutes anyway. Again - not really a big deal, I had the day off - but it also took about 2 and a half hours to do both (they are students after all!), so make sure to plan for plenty of time. Daniel did my massage and it was great. He was a licensed therapist who was skilled and gave a wonderful massage. The building is old, but is no indication of the services provided. My one major complaint is that online it says that students are not allowed to accept tips, but this is not the case at all. Tips are accepted and expect tips. Which I have no problem with!! But I had no cash and couldn't add it to my credit card, making a very awkward goodbye from both of my treatments. I felt bad, but had checked their policies and was not prepared. So make sure you are! Otherwise, lovely experience!

The instructor then said I don't know if I could help you because I can't see your hair; I have to see what I'm looking at. I was wearing a hijab so I said yeah, I know I wear a hijab because I always wear a hijab.I took off my hijab so she could see my hair. Then all she had was insults. First, she said that my hair was boxed dye. I told her I do not use box dye. I normally go to a different beauty college to get my hair done and they do not use boxed dye. She then said that she has been doing this for 25 years and she knows box dye on hair looks like and the school you went to used box dye. I called the school that I went to right then and there I asked them what they used and when they used and when the did my hair.They told me they used Redkin and they dyed my hair in February (8 months ago). Then the instructor went on the condition of my hair. She said that my hair is so damaged. I kept telling her that my hair is not damaged. My hair is naturally like this. I was born this way and she kept insisting that my hair was damaged. She said all she could do to my hair was to chop it off and to wash it. I called grand strand hair design and they they saw me and right away. They looked at my hair and they said my hair was healthy, and what normal healthy mixed hair looks like. See when you have mixed hair your hair that is thicker, dry looking, and it's nappy when you brush it. Then when you do brush it it's fluffy and soft. That's what happens when you have mixed hair. So I believe that this instructor at HGTC has been doing hair for 25 years was profiling me because of the lack of pigmentation in my skin. She probably didn't realize that I'm an albino. My grandfather is black. My hair has always been like this. And I kept telling her my hair wasn't damaged but she wouldn't listen. Or maybe she really doesn't know what mixed hair is. If you have mixed hair, go to grand strand design, at least they will take care of you and they won't make you feel like you have disgusting and gross hair.

BCC is serving as Novant Health's COVID-19 vaccination site in Brunswick County, and this review is…read moreonly about that process. After making an appointment online for my first COVID-19 vaccine, my email instructions said to arrive no more than ten minutes ahead of my appointment time in order to reduce wait times. The first thing I noticed on pulling into the vaccination site was the National Guard presence. They are coordinating arrivals, putting cars into various lanes, and then checking each car for appointments and handing out paperwork. (Even if you filled out your paperwork online, you'll need to do it again. Why? No idea.) This initial process took about twenty minutes, all inside the car, and following directions as to when to move and where. Eventually, you'll be maneuvered into a holding spot to wait until the vaccinators are ready for you. Once you're at the final destination, you simply wait in your car for them to come to you. Easy peasy. After the shot, you'll wait another 15-20 minutes or so before being given the all clear to drive away. And when you get your first shot, you'll get a vaccination card with the date of your 2nd appointment, one month later, same time. The card is important. Be sure to keep it in a safe location.

I'm not a fan of the midday sun and heat, so a workout fits the bill before hitting the beach in the afternoon. The Gore Center is a beautiful, modern facility with window-filled cardio and resistance areas. Staff is really friendly and accommodating. I usually borrow a ball from the desk and shoot around in the (first-class) gym, then finish up with weights and cardio machines. It's $7 for a day pass, and it's a bargain.
