The only one I could get was 7:30 p.m. After reading other reviews on the day of the appointment, I called to make sure I was on the calendar. "No problem. We have you down for 7:30." It was not 10 minutes later they called and cancelled because my person suddenly became unavailable. I rescheduled for the next day with the person who called to cancel (which amazed me since online there were no appointments). About two hours before the next appointment, I received a text saying I would need to call to reschedule as my new person was unavailable. It's like everything they promised magically disappeared the moment they got my financial aid. The instructors? Let's just say some of them seemed like they Googled the material right before class. I'm all for self-learning, but if I wanted to teach myself, I could've stayed home and kept my money. Everything here feels unorganized, unprofessional, and honestly a little chaotic - like a school pretending to be a school. The support stops the moment you sign your name. The instructor then said I don't know if I could help you because I can't see your hair; I have to see what I'm looking at. I was wearing a hijab so I said yeah, I know I wear a hijab because I always wear a hijab.I took off my hijab so she could see my hair. Then all she had was insults. First, she said that my hair was boxed dye. I told her I do not use box dye. I normally go to a different beauty college to get my hair done and they do not use boxed dye. She then said that she has been doing this for 25 years and she knows box dye on hair looks like and the school you went to used box dye. I called the school that I went to right then and there I asked them what they used and when they used and when the did my hair.They told me they used Redkin and they dyed my hair in February (8 months ago). Then the instructor went on the condition of my hair. She said that my hair is so damaged. I kept telling her that my hair is not damaged. My hair is naturally like this. I was born this way and she kept insisting that my hair was damaged. She said all she could do to my hair was to chop it off and to wash it. I called grand strand hair design and they they saw me and right away. They looked at my hair and they said my hair was healthy, and what normal healthy mixed hair looks like. See when you have mixed hair your hair that is thicker, dry looking, and it's nappy when you brush it. Then when you do brush it it's fluffy and soft. That's what happens when you have mixed hair. So I believe that this instructor at HGTC has been doing hair for 25 years was profiling me because of the lack of pigmentation in my skin. She probably didn't realize that I'm an albino. My grandfather is black. My hair has always been like this. And I kept telling her my hair wasn't damaged but she wouldn't listen. Or maybe she really doesn't know what mixed hair is. If you have mixed hair, go to grand strand design, at least they will take care of you and they won't make you feel like you have disgusting and gross hair.

As a licensed realtor in another state I didn't need to take the class but decided to force myself to sit there so I could retain the information and pass my state exam. I will say the instructor we had was top notch, not boring in the least, and definitely had a way of presenting the materials to make them stick. I was in and out in 2 1/2 days and they combined it with the full class for those people looking to get their license which to me and made all the sense in the world. The booklet they gave me for the state materials was pre-highlighted so all I had to do was make my own notes and add additional highlighter for those items I needed to focus on. I was quite pleased and felt that my money was well worth what I got!
