Are they truly an animal hospital? Isn't it their responsibility to care for dying, suffering…read moreanimals? How can a practice use the word "hospital" if it cannot provide urgent, end-of-life care to a long-standing patient? My 17-year-old dog had been a patient at Brunswick Animal Hospital for most of her life. Over the years, I entrusted them with her care and spent a significant amount of money there without hesitation, believing we had a relationship built on trust and continuity. When she began actively dying and was clearly in distress, I called expecting urgency, guidance, and compassion. Instead, I was told they could not fit her in. I was informed I could come as a walk-in but would likely sit in the waiting room for hours. I was then referred to an emergency veterinary clinic nearly an hour away, essentially told to take my suffering senior dog elsewhere. The interaction felt cold and dismissive, completely lacking the compassion you would expect in such a devastating moment. This is the same practice where I have previously waited well beyond scheduled appointment times because emergencies and euthanasias were prioritized. I accepted that without complaint because that is what hospitals do, they respond to urgent need. What is heartbreaking is that when my own loyal, long-term patient required that same urgency at the end of her life, there was no accommodation, no sense of responsibility, and no empathy. Being told to wait for hours or drive an hour away while your 17-year-old dog is actively dying is not just inconvenient, it is profoundly painful. I will never return to this practice and would never recommend it to anyone. When it mattered most, they were cold and they were not there.

This is a great low cost clinic to neuter/spay your pets with affordable vaccination prices…read more They do not have a phone number so you will have to submit requests through their website. They take quite some time to respond, sometimes days. If it's an emergency, I advise to go to Academy Hospital or Coastal Vet Clinic. You will receive a text where you can contact them. Make sure to bring a proof of rabies certification on your first visit otherwise, they will make your dog get another shot at their clinic for $15.

This shelter is ATROCIOUS the 3 and 1/2 month old puppy my spouse and I adopted a week ago now…read moreneeds an expensive surgery so he can use his leg and be a normal puppy. This is due to this shelter's neglect. A puppy with a fractured/ broken leg isn't cared for properly and isn't noticed? I don't believe that the shelter did not inform us before adoption we found out from a vet after he started whining and not using his leg and we got x rays. The vet told us how his leg was very improperly healed from a 3-4 week old fracture/ break that was never treated. That time frame is when the shelter had him and they did nothing. They had no knowledge I'm not sure how they didn't when they neutered him and did that surgery. Just by feeling his leg you could feel the difference this poor puppy now needs an invasive surgery and they are doing nothing and won't help. All they said was they would take him and give us back the adoption fee. That is horrendous. Why would we give him back when their neglect caused this. They had no remorse and offered no financial help or emotional care. Do not trust those people.

On November 20th I adopted a "healthy" cat as stated per staff and medical records given at the time of the adoption, I was weary to adopt from there due to the dog kennels being closed for kennel cough, I went against my intuition and better judgment and adopted my cat at a price of 125 dollars. Within 2 day my cat had progressively gotten a cough and respiratory issues tried to call however due to holidays they were closed, on the 24th when vets opened again I reached out to our private vet and was told he had a upper respiratory infection and 3 rotting teeth. Called the humane society when they reopened to see what could be done and to let them know there must have been some sort of cross contamination between the dogs and cats, they were not willing to do any kind of reimbursement for out of pocket vet fees or take responsibility that I got a sick cat with dental problems from them, instead they said " you can surrender him back to us" that was there solution to a new pet adoption. Growing up my family has always adopted from Guilford, Yancey, Forsyth county shelters and a variety of rescues and with dealing with all of these we have never been treated with these types of unprofessional staff or substandard practices. Be very cautious about bring home a pet from this particular shelter or donating money to an organization that misappropriates your money.
