Registration is a bit of a process. You first have to create a profile through the Lorain County Metro Parks system, then return to the Splash Zone site to register for a specific program on a designated day and time. Once registered, the system shows your cost--mine initially showed $0. I arrived about 30 minutes early on the morning of my class, which turned out to be helpful because I had to re-register in person. After completing that, I was told there would normally be a $3 fee due to my SilverSneakers account. However, the woman at the front desk kindly let me attend for free that day, explaining that future visits would be $3. Since I'd never been there before, I had to navigate through several locker and pool areas. There are multiple pools separated by glass dividers with automatic doors--someone shared a helpful tip that the small black box above the door shows which side to stand on to trigger it. The instructor came in without much of an introduction, set up a small carry-on-size speaker, put on her headset, and began the class. The workout was aqua Tabata (a Japanese-style interval workout): 20 seconds of fast-paced movement followed by 10 seconds of rest. The class lasted 45 minutes. I stayed for about 30 minutes, choosing to leave early since shower space is limited and I like to be considerate of others. The workout itself was excellent, and being in the water felt really good. The showers, however, were not great--hair on the floor and a general "public park" feel, even at 10:30 a.m. I was glad I wore water shoes. On the plus side, the water temperature and the very hot shower afterward were appreciated. The instructor mentioned that this is her business and encouraged people to connect on Facebook (with a profile photo), and it's clear she's very talented. Overall, despite a few logistical and cleanliness issues, I'd go back again--and next time, I'd happily pay the $3 when I'm in town.

Outdoor pool My kids…read moreloved it! I have been to splashzone for years and this was my first time utilizing the outdoor pool. It costs $8 per person no matter the age. We had three young children with us. You enter through the main pool area and walk to your right out a set of doors. There is a large pool area that is sectioned off for different uses. There is a gradual entry area with a water playground for kids, this is connected to the main part of the pool that gets about 5 feet deep. There are 2 slides that you have to be 48 inches to ride. The lifeguards have a break for 15 minutes after 45 minutes of swimming. All kids have to get out of the water. While waiting there are lots of lounge chairs, a snack shack offer ice cream, hot dogs, pretzels, etc. along with a playground and swing area for the kids. There are also two indoor areas you can take the kids to play with the frog pool for younger kids and the indoor water playground.

There are balls to borrow so you don't have to bring your own. I called ahead to confirm that a court would be open since they always have other activities going on. We walked on the track upstairs. They have a little sitting area we were able to pack a picnic and snack before going to the pool. The pool entrance has several family bathrooms to change in. Plus the locker rooms. In the locker rooms they have a nice sauna so you can warm up. The pool area the kids love since it is spacious and divided into sections. The younger one enjoyed the water play area and the older ones enjoyed the slide. They were able to go over and over again with little wait. Overall a lot of fun for a family. Cost about $10 per person for a day pass.

My kids can swim pretty well with their puddle jumpers so we had a good time here! Rules are they have to stay within arms length of you though! & only cost guard approved arm floaties/puddle jumpers are allowed here. Day pass good price. $8 I think? We plan on returning after a vacation and getting a summer pass so we can have more days of fun this summer while it starts to heat up. Awesome place for kids to play!…read more We took 5 kids to play for a birthday celebration and they had a great time. The staff was great getting us checked in. They give you a bin to put your shoes in to keep the floors from being cluttered. Lots of tables and chairs for the adults to watch. They have a gate so the kids can't leave without an adult. The kids loved all the different themed play areas from giant building blocks, slides, soccer area, climbing areas. Even adults are welcome to join in the fun. They even have a small Toto's area for kids in diapers. I enjoyed that the staff let the kids play but we're still attentive in making sure rules were being followed.

They are located next to each other and have just one access point to each other which is great when you have multiple kids to watch. Parking is close. So pickleball was a smash hit. Then I went into the club to get a beer, a tour, and a membership. I was pleasantly surprised by all the amenities that they offer. They have weights, a walking/jogging tracking, a steam room, a bar, a lounge, TVs, ping pong, shuffleboard, pilates classes, cardio fitness equpment, indoor & outdoor tennis courts, outdoor pickleball courts, volleyball courts, basketball courts, indoor golf, soccer/lacrosse field, and updated locker rooms. There's a lot going on here compared to other health clubs in the area. I spoke with the general manager, Val, and she was super friendly and down to earth. We had a draft beer from the bar, while we chatted and watched tennis on TV. I really liked the vibe that this place has and I am hoping to start using the weight machines and pickleball often.

The locker room facilities are adequate, but you will definitely be taken back to the late 80s early 90s with the decor. There are several toiletries available for use in case you forgot anything, and a separate area with large mirrors for getting ready after your work out. The facility offers a full-size basketball court, walking track, and with several weight/fitness equipment options. I have never been a member of this club, but have visited as a guest many times. It is tucked away in an industrial parkway area of Fairlawn, so you need to be alert when searching for the building.

Has been shut down due to health issues. So I called this center to see if my disabled daughter could use the walking lap , when the snow comes in, it's very difficult for her. I asked the receptionist, and she said 465 dollars a year. Than said hold on let me check, than put me on hold for 10 minutes . I hung up with much dismay. I wouldn't call this a community center, it's more like a recreation center that truly wants to keep non residents out. I would never take a disabled person to this center. Only for young or senior center more like it.

I immediately got my family out, but shockingly, they continued children's swimming lessons in that same pool, exposing everyone to potential infections and harmful bacteria like E. coli. I was very surprised, as the staff usually reacts strongly to smaller issues. For example, when I first signed up, one of the female staff members, a very thin brunette, aggressively and disrespectfully yelled at my family and another woman with her daughter over a simple mistake--we brought a floaty, unaware it wasn't allowed. We aren't allowed to use noodles or dive with goggles unless we're paying for swimming lessons. How does that make sense? While some staff members are nice, others act like we're uninvited, unwelcome guests in their house, enforcing unnecessary and unreasonable rules in a rude and bossy manner. This is the first pool I've ever been to where noodles are banned, but apparently, swimming with dead birds is okay. I gave 2 stars because the pool is really beautiful and the water is often warm and pleasant. Too bad for everything else.
