Not a bad deal! The people are friendly, the locker rooms are spacious and clean, and the pool is perfectly-heated. It's a great temperature for lap swimming or just playing around. In addition to the pool, there are basketball courts and an indoor track. The South Portland Community Center is a great local resource, and I'm very glad I've started taking advantage of it. If you live in the area, I suggest you do too! Just don't everybody come at once, because the pool can get pretty crowded during lap swim.

My two pet peeves about this Y; the equipment is pretty dated and seems to be geared mainly to men and the female lifeguard. Almost every time I got to swim she barks at me for something. Like, before I have a chance to set my towel down she's yelling at me to rinse off. She makes my most mellow part of the day really uptight. Otherwise, quite a lovely establishment especially for Midcoast Maine.

This is a small pocket park in the Knightville area of South Portland next to the McDonald's at the…read moreMill Creek shopping center... almost across from the treatment plant. If you are on the way to Thomas Knight Park, this is on the way. It can be easy to miss but this Spring the city paved the parking area next to the park so there is plenty of parking. There is a fence around much of it, but it is not completely fenced in. The end near the playground is fenced, but as you near the opposite end by the basketball court, there is no fence there. The playground is up to date and we often see a few children there with parents. A few benches are inside the park and there is a nice grassy area between the playground and basketball court; bring your own ball. Dogs are allowed in this park, please pick up after them.

Very clean and well maintained. This is not a beginner course but worked well for the novice I am. I would not recommend for young children as the terrain is rough with rocks and roots. Defiantly great workout, with holes that are uphill a down hills and around big angles. The course is well marked and easy to follow. There are lots of quirky add ons such as benches, a porch swing, stumps covered in drink caps, fire pit and fences made of long sticks. The scenery is as picturesque as the course. Definatly a fun course. Pay and play once or pay and play all day.

For a person newer to the game there are two primary throws a back hand and forehand (also called a flick). Basically this entails how the disc and your body are looking lined up looking at the pin. Devils grove is a forehand throwers dream . With many baskets and holes breaking to the right it would be wise to have that throw. Well labeled tee boxes and trash cans at every hole. Devils grove has a pro house with drinks and plenty of other disc to purchase there. The course is well maintained and you can tell the owner puts a lot of time and effort into it. There are some of very challenging holes but they also have a lot of holes that have Ace potential. Plenty of tournaments and a random doubles and bring your own partner doubled during the week. Highly recommend, get on out of the house and throw some plastic.

I found this trail today on Google Maps when looking for a place to run near my hotel. The…read moretrailhead itself is located down Tyler drive and has its own parking lot with more than ample parking. It is a blue blazed trail with offshoots of at least yellow and orange which seem to link back up to the main trail. It is an easy to follow trail although there are a lot of roots which makes you pay attention and if you are moving at a decent clip, not see as much of the scenery as you would like. In the short distance that I used it for it had a lot of features like bridges across creeks, boards across wet spots and even a little set of switchbacks to get you heart going in a short but steep little climb. During my run I saw lots of tire tracks from mountain bikes and a couple of mountain bikers as well as a lady walking her unleashed dog. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I really enjoyed my easy paced run here and only wish that my schedule had more mileage for me on the day.
