Our first visit was way back in 2010 and it was a blast. It was still great although some of their vines were hurt by the freeze in 2021 and it's been a slow process of rooting and getting them going again. We took crackers & cheese & deli meats to enjoy with our wine tasting and consumption. They have inside & outside seating to enjoy your tasting and consumption. Wifey & I enjoyed our work hooky trip to Brushy Creek Winery. While the vineyard is still recovering from snow-mageddon, the host Mrs. Ann was extremely nice & knowledgeable. They have so many wines to sample, I believe we sampled 13 and purchased 3 bottles of wine. We had a very enjoyable dinner at Brushy Creek's Wine Maker Diner on 11/9/19. I had never been to the winery before but would love to go back during the day to be able to see more. The four course Dinner paired well with the offered wines. Megan Potts the chef was interesting and very approachable. Rob Clinesmith, the winemaker was a great host. Wine: 9/10 Selection: 9/10 Service: 10/10 The friendly cat that greets you at the door: 10/10 I'm not a huge wine fan, but I love coming to this place and getting their sweet red wine, "Sunset Red." It's sweet, but not too sweet and would go great with a nice, juicy steak! They just recently started bottling a new sweet red wine called, "Sweet n' Sassy" which I just purchased. It sounds a bit girly, but it's really good As you can tell, I only like sweet wines lol I'm not a fan of dry, but everyone I know that's tried their dry wines loves them. They have a nice selection of wines, many of which have won medals in different wine competitions. I usually only come here on Fridays and deal with the same woman at the counter who is awesome and nice! She'll help you find the right wine for you! The tastings are a dollar a piece, and they do tours as well to show you how everything is done. It's an awesome place right off the highway that you should definitely stop in for!! read more

Yesterday I was on a wine tour bus of 53-56 people, Brushy Creek Vineyards was one of our stops. As soon as I saw their logo, I knew this was going to be special because I own a bottle of Sangiovese. We were greeted by Mr. Les and another lady. Mr. Les had a passion for wine and he shared his pride for growing wine in the state of Texas. He was educated and passionate and I was ready to learn. He took us on a tour of the winery, explaining detail after detail. My favor part was being able to add a an oak chip in our wine, boy does it change the favor to something special. In the tasting room, there was confusion on what you could taste. The ladies wanted to split the group into sweet and dry. However, I wanted to taste both. ...not all, just both. I wanted to taste 3 sweet and two dry. It was a little disappointing. All the wines I tasted were very good. If you enjoy wine and have the time to make a quick stop, it's worth it. read more

I love Brushy Creek Vineyards. My friends and I stopped by the vineyards on our way home back from Oklahoma this past weekend. The place is so quaint and the owner and the staff were so sweet and accommodating. We've been to a couple vineyards and none are as personable as Les and Candy this past Sunday. Mr. Les gave us a tour of the winery and Candy was in charge of the wine tasting. She usually handles the wine club but had to fill in because one of the girls had to leave due to a family emergency. Although they were short staffed they were so friendly and generous and always had a smile on their faces. We did a wine tasting, each bought a couple bottles of wine and enjoyed ourselves so much. The wine was reasonably priced and tasted really great. If you are in the area I suggest you stop by and visit this gem, taste some wine, and sit out on the patio with some cheese and crackers. If its chilly outside you can build a small fire and get cozy. read more

This vineyard caught my eye on my way over to New Mexico. Might as well stop at 12PM right? Never too early to get started on a road trip. too much sediment The people that work here are awesome, the location is cool and tucked away, and there is soon to be a venue geared for weddings and other things alike. They also take lots of volunteers to work the vineyards; free wine for a hard days work in the grape fields? Sign me up! It averages roughly $1 a taste, so that is nice and cheap for people wanting to try a bunch. Most of the wine was OK for Texas wine, but I really did not like the excess of sediment. Many of my tastings had lots of dirt. I did like that the lady opened all of the bottles new for us, as they did not have any open. Check Brushy Creek out when you are driving through Alvord, TX. Not that you will be passing through any time soon. The wine is pretty mediocre, but it makes for an interesting stop during a road trip. Pick up some cheap booze. read more

Couldn't have loved the wine or the winemakers more. I felt instantly at home at Brushy Creeks casual yet intimate tasting room. I tried grape varietals I had never even heard of before, but were delicious and well executed for the humble Texas environs. Go and hang with locals and try a glass of the exotic Rkatsiteli or my favorite, the easy drinking Sangiovese. Miss you guys already! read more

This vineyard is between Decatur and Bowie and was easy to fine. Going on a Sunday afternoon we found a group of people on the front porch enjoying themselves as we went inside. Greeted friendly and had prompt service. The service lady was very nice and very helpful as she asked if we would like to try the wines we were interested in. I had tried 5 different wines and selected 2 to purchase. The wines were great and tasty. When checking out the lady said to me we normally charge you for the 5 samples you tasted but we won't today. Now I don't go to many wineyards but I do look around for any signs that would say "we charge for sampling". There were none. I don't believe I would try any more wines there, as I don't want to purchase a wine that I did not like. read more

I stopped in last Friday on my way to my parents. The people there are awesome. My fave taste was some chocolate port. I also liked the sparkling wine a lot. They had some very interesting reds that were totally different from anything I have ever had before. If you buy 3 bottles (which I did) the tastings are free. I went with a group on a wineries/vineyard bus tour. It was my favorite stop. Mr. Les was our "teacher". He was the kind of teacher I love...one who seems to do what he does because he loves doing it. He spoke in such a way that everyone could understand...not like he was talking to a group of experts like I have had some wine experts do. The tastings were a bit chaotic and crowded, but that is kind of to be expected with a large..,discount kind of group. The wines and the grounds were amazing; well...amazing to me...I am a bit of a novice. It was an educational, fun, down to earth kind of experience, and I left with some really great, reasonably priced wine. It was a great experience, and I would definitely go again if I have a chance. read more

Excellent wines! Great service. The Tempranillo's are the best. You can learn allot from the owner, Les when you take his tour. Not sure what others have said is true. Love love love their wine and most of the employees are great. Except Candy. She can occasionally be friendly, as we go very often but sometimes, I can't believe how she still works there. She blamed another employee for a mistake she made and we even told her we watched him do his job correctly and she continued to put the blame on him in front of us. She is constantly complaining about something or bragging about her life. She doesn't take the time to be friendly with most people. When we ask to buy a case of wine, she usually acts like we're imposing. Les is wonderful and we love the wines he makes, so we will continue to buy from him. But Les, my suggestion is that you let Candy go and hire someone who cares about your company and the way it is perceived or make sure she improves her customer service skills drastically. read more

Southern hospitality must have died. My wife and I were visiting TX from out of state and saw the sign for the winery on the highway and thought it would be fun. Once we entered the tasting room and waited because there were a large group of people, a couple of ladies made eye contact with both of us and continued to attend to the other patrons. My wife I head towards a counter area that was being obstructed by a case of wine. The two females performing the testing continued to assist the other patron and even made time for light humor amongst themselves. After a continued waiting period one of the ladies walked towards and moved the case, thinking she was doing this to assist us, we were wrong sh moved the case without even acknowledging us standing there, after realizing that we might need to inquirer about the tasting ourselves, my wife informed one of the females behind the counter about our interest in tasting some of the wines, her response was that we were going to have to wait and I was perceived as semi hostile tone. Now I completely understand that they were busy and that we need to wait. But at what point are you too busy even speak five simple words, we'll be right with you? Not only is Southern Hospitality dead here, but so is simple common courtesy.I would not recommend this winery to anyone traveling through Texas read more

I was on my way to Oklahoma and notice their sign so decided to stop. It is a quaint little winery and the people who own and run were so very nice. The tastings are just $!. I bought one of their sweeter red wines and it was wonderful. I plan to go back for sure. read more

My husband and I went last weekend and did a tour it was a very nice and beautiful place, the owner Les was very informative and friendly however the lady working the tasting room Candy I believe was her name was very rude and kept going on and on about her expensive wedding ring and how she lives in a 4000 sq ft house with a pool, we just wanted to enjoy our tasting but she obviously is a one upper. We will go back but we will make sure she isn't there, she had the worst customer service skills of anyone I have ever met. Very sad it was apparent that she runs off customers. while doing a tasting she constantly watched the other girl in there pour wine and was critizing her in front of all of the customers, we felt so bad for her :( read more

Not worth your time... My wife and I have been to a lot of vineyards and wineries. As we live in Texas, we are found of Texas wines. For some reason we have never been to Brushy Creek before today. We decided to have date afternoon and go check them out today. The property looks good as you pull in but the grass growing half way up grapevines made me wonder. We walked in the front door of the "tasting room". It was smaller than my wife's closet.. We looked at each other confused. There was 2 gentlemen and a lady sitting straight ahead in what looked liked a hallway. As we stood at the counter for a min, one of the gentleman finally asked " need help?!" Turns out they were the employees and maybe owner. The gentleman that helped pour our tastings literally told my wife after her first glass " oh, is that what it's called?! I eat a lot of spicy food so I don't really taste things". We tasted a few( a lot were unavailable to taste because supply was low and they were only selling by the bottle) and none were any better than grocery store wines. Basically.. Mediocre wine, unhelpful staff. Very, very disappointing. We left and went to a restraunt to get a descent glass. Don't waste your time. read more
