FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Oh....well the tax payers and those who buy fuel in Illinois pay for this service to save you a 30 mile drive to the nearest bridge. I love the ferry to get to Grafton and watch the bald eagles!

It's the free ferry from Il. that is run by the state, how great is that. Not a long voyage but pleasant enough and well run.

I have taken this ferry many, many times on the way from STL to Pere Marquette. It is a free ferry linking Calhoun County, IL to Grafton and Pere Marquette. This ferry can get very busy on weekend. Safe, easy trip. You may get out and take pictures during the boat ride. Cars, Trucks, and Motorcycles are all moved by this ferry. It operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This ferry is operated by the Illinois Department of Transportation.

These folks are wonderfull !!!!!!…read more I am the kind of person who is glad to give a friend a ride to a doctor's appointment or the airport, but I have a hard time asking for that kind of favor myself. So when I needed to find a ride to and from a procedure at the hospital I searched online for Medical Transport and I found these folks. I am glad I did. They are friendly, prompt, professional, and reliable. The whole experience was a pleasure. I'm going to call them next time I need a ride to the airport; they do all kinds of transportation. They are more cost effective than another company I called, which was only doing wheelchair transport now, which I didn't need. If you know any good, reliable, drivers, send them to Transport-U. They are always looking to expand their services.

After traveling up via the Grafton SkyTour (reviewed separately), we decided to do the Alpine Coaster first. It cost $18 per adult for one round-trip coaster ride. After completing a waiver on a tablet, we were able to board right away. Strangely, it was not possible for myself (5'5" F) or my partner (6' M) to sit with our backs/necks in the chair and also push the hand accelerators forward all the way. That meant we both were bending forward unsupported for the entire ride in order to go fast (fast = fun!). The coaster itself was nice and shady with twists and turns that we both enjoyed. Unfortunately, we have both had bad back and neck pain and muscle spasms after the coaster (2 days at this point). They really need to move the hand controls back about 5 inches so normal people can reach them while having their backs in the ride. After the coaster, we visited the main building (Terrace) for a glass of wine. The "winery" building was closed during our visit. The main space, which feels like a banquet hall, was well air conditioned with large windows that allow a view of the river valley. The live music was nice. The Cardinals v Cubs game was on the big screen muted. The service was rather slow, which was a surprise considering that it wasn't very busy. Our server was friendly but not very knowledgeable about wine. There were only 3 Aerie's wines on the menu. I tried their Chambourcin, which was pretty good and my partner had a Pinot noir that was okay. After the wine, we took some pictures on the patio and then headed back down the SkyTour.

The snow was coming down before we began our trip. Cindy our driver, and Glenda our concierge, were not only a fantastic team but made even the nervous passengers feel at ease. Glenda came around with candy for everyone and had a little trivia to pass the time for the up'ing travelers. Traffic was so backed up, because of the weather, but Cindy maneuvered around the traffic and got us to the show on time. It was wonderful to be dropped RIGHT at the door. The snow continued while we were at the show. When we came out, she was again Right at the door. How convenient! Especially with all the little "Elsa's" not completely dressed for the weather. We had to wait to start the snowy trek home. There were 3 passengers missing for quite a while, and Glenda went on a hunt for them. She and Cindy were patient and polite to the absent passengers, and Cindy attended to us waiting patiently on the coach. Cindy was an EXCELLENT driver and made everyone feel very safe. The driving conditions with crazy semi's zooming by was nerve wracking, but Cindy handled it with ease. Glenda brought the Frozen DVD to watch on the way home. It was a great distraction for anxious passengers and the tired young uns. When we arrived back, Glenda helped people clean off the 3+ inches of snow mounded on their vehicles. Cindy waited in the coach with passengers while their cars warned up. WOW....these ladies were impressive!!! If I could give 10 stars I would!!!

When we got to the day of, the bus arrived, and I had my wallet ready to pay, but the driver said nothing but asked where we were going. We gave him our ceremony location and we made it there in a timely manner. On the way back to the reception however we took an awkwardly long way to the venue (looking at the map there were much more efficient ways to get there) and we arrived late. As we were all getting off the bus at the venue, the driver then asks who is paying. I told him that my wallet was in my bag packed for our honeymoon in my parents car and that I could call him tomorrow to give him the info, to which he refused and demanded he get paid. He also mentioned that he wasnt supposed to even let us on the bus in the first place without payment, but never said anything when he arrived. I had already made my guests wait while we drove the long way to the reception. At this point, I had to locate my mother to locate the keys to the car, run to the car, grab my wallet, and then proceed with payment. The driver, who didn't introduce himself to begin with, took the card info and then left. Despite all of this, we had a great wedding, but I don't recommend this company.
