    Bruster's Real Ice Cream
    Jordan B.

After grabbing lunch on a Saturday afternoon, stopped at Bruster's for some dessert. It was my first time here, so there were many choices in the menu. It was a hot summer day, so instead of ice cream, I opted for the Mango Dragon Fruit sorbet and it was great! There were a handful of people waiting in line and many decided to sit outside in the benches and enjoy their ice cream in a sunny day. Did the same! Bruster's is a refreshing option on a warm, sunny day!

First time at Brusters. I've passed by some of the locations multiple times without stopping in. When we arrived, there was a short line that moved really quickly. I ordered a Heath toffee ice cream in a waffle cone, but hubby's mango dragonfruit sorbet was ready before mine, and I tasted it then changed my mind! It was really creamy, sweet and good. I wouldn't have put sorbet in a cone, but my initial order was ice cream so I left that part of my order as-is. We sat outside and ate our treats, there are several benches beside the building which allow for social distancing. I'd definitely return.

This is a real ice cream shop where you order outside at the window. Kilwin's in Birkdale is also good but this ice cream is better at a cheaper price. I enjoy getting ice cream with my son and sitting on the bench. The service is great but the Kids size is super small. Small is the perfect size--not too much, not too little. I've also been into this thing where I don't get any toppings so I can actually taste the ice cream. This works great at Bruster's, which is a good sign. Recommended for great ice cream and overall experience.

The ice cream part is exactly what you expect from Bruster's: scoopy, creamy, melty on a warm summer evening as it waits in the bag until you finish the hotdog, fries, and Coke® which is a little disappointing until you remember it's New York's famous-est brand. Onions + kraut + mustard match up well on a soft fresh bun but deserve better meats. Use the two-prong spud sticker and keep your fingers clean while eating your crinkle-cuts. Be aware of cars coming up the drive-thru on the left! Two windows to place your order but the other one is usually faster. Ample seating going right, bunch of benches as you pass the coin-op kiddie-go-rounds then three or four tables around back. Miss J is obviously not from around here - sounds like from across the pond, Denver? Hickory? London? - regardless, she's thorough and pleasant.

Bruster's was soooo good! I really loved it. The strawberry shortcake was amazing and the hot dog was super good! Great quality ice cream! Love this place!

Bring your own bananas Sort of a joke but it's real. Friend from Ohio came down and we went out for Ice Cream, she wanted a banana split and they told here that the only way she could get it was to bring her own banana. At one time, the menu even reflected that. In any case, it's a great place for Ice Cream. More flavors than I can count with great service. Nothing better than to get a cone ( I don't like the cups), go to one of the side tables on a hot summer day and chill out. A great experience

The birthday cake is my fave flavor. Also love that they give dogs pup cups! Can be a little pricey but they often send coupons in the mail.

Ice cream is good, but the food wasn't great. Definitely will return for ice cream during the summer. Service was excellent.

They are located in a basic strip mall so not much for ambience / character. The mint chocolate chip ice cream lacked depth of flavor but was still pretty good. What I really didn't like - the young girl that made my ice cream cone held the cone over the garbage can to add the chocolate sprinkles. And I mean almost in the garbage can. Hopefully it is a dedicated can for such work. If not... yikes. The cone was excellent.

We used to have a Handel's location closer to us, and we miss it greatly, so we make sure to stop anytime we are near one! Handel's is located in a strip mall-type area, in a corner unit. Specifically, it is located right off of 77 and W Catawba Avenue. There is plenty of parking for the complex, so that will not be an issue. The store has plenty of visible signage to point you in the right direction. Our visit was on a Thursday evening in July, a little after 8:00 PM. There were several groups enjoying ice cream, but there was not an overwhelming line. I believe we only had two or three people in front of us before we were able to order. The area outside of the store is not overwhelmingly large, but they have a roped-off area to show where the line should form to avoid it spilling into the dining areas. Some Handel's locations have an inside, but this location is completely outdoors. So, to place your order you simply walk up to the windows, and can then enjoy their patio seating or take your items to-go. When you approach the windows, you will see all of the signage, menu items, and flavors. The flavors were located on a sandwich board on the ground, which made it difficult to see if you were not directly in front of the windows. I could see this being a challenge if there was a long line, as one would not be able to see the flavor lists until right before ordering. We were waited on by a few of the staff members. Since it was not that busy when we ordered, they seemed to be splitting duties. My fiance ordered a Small Cake Cone of Key Lime Pie, and I got a 4 Scoop Sampler with Frosted Animal Cookie, Monkey Business, Chocolate Peanut Butter Brownie, and Blue Moon. I thought the scoops on the 4 Scoop were somewhat small, but no complaints other than that. Additionally, we ordered a Dogster for our dog, and of course he loved it! Personally, the Frosted Animal Cookie was the only flavor I had not tried previously. It was alright...it is very sweet and truthfully did not remind me much of the cookie (besides the actual inclusions of animal cookies in the ice cream). It was made well, but just personally not for me. I have had all of the other flavors before, and they were all great. I love the uniqueness of Blue Moon, and also how refreshing Key Lime Pie always is. Since it was such a nice night, we enjoyed our ice cream on the patio. I love the lights they have strung up over the seating. There were probably around 5 to 6 tables, and a few benches around the perimeter of the patio. I am not sure how busy this location gets, but I could see there being a lack of seating during peak business times. However, we had no issue grabbing a table to sit at during this visit. I thought the prices were in line with what I would expect from a Handel's. Being that I am not from this area, it is hard to say if it is in line with other ice cream shops in the area. For all three of our items, it was around $15 with tax. My only complaint is that the Dogster was $3, which seems high. The staff were friendly and conversational. Since there was no line, I was talking with the one staff member about the Handel's that used to be near us, and enjoyed learning more about this particular location through our conversation. Overall, we enjoyed checking out a Handel's location we had never been to before. This is in a nice area, has plenty of parking, is clean, and has a nice atmosphere. My only critiques were the positioning for the flavors in relation to the line, pricing on some items, and the portion of the 4 Scoop Sampler. However, do not let that deter you from stopping here for a sweet treat if you are in the area!

We came across Whit's Frozen Custard, which was nearby. Ice Cream or Frozen Custard is always a good thing anywhere. Certainly after a long day of travel, it is a welcomed experience, no doubt. We came to Whit's Frozen Custard in Huntersville on a Veteran's Day holiday evening. We were thankful they were still open around 7pm. It was standing room only, since we wanted to order something and head back on the road. It was a small enough ice cream shop that we were just happy to be there. You could feel the subtle ambiance that life is good and things are fine. With that said, I ended up with a pint of chocolate ice cream and my friend had a 2 scoops of her favorite flavor. They already had pre packed pints in the freezer, so I just did that to save time and not have the staff pack a fresh one. We spent at most 20 minutes here from start to finish. It was a delicious treat after arriving in CLT international airport and spent the evening, stopping at Huntersville. It was definitely well needed. The overall experience here at Whit's Frozen Custard here in Huntersville, North Carolina was good and typical at the same time. The staff here was great in taking care of us and the ice cream was delicious. They were friendly and they smiled more than I noticed. I'm not sure what the difference is between genuine ice cream and frozen custard is but, the taste seems to be no difference. Or very little. The prices here are very reasonable, but if you want added value, you should consider the pint or a quart and save the rest in the freezer for a rainy day. Unless of course, you are buying for a party. My experience here at Whit's Frozen Custard was delicious. I'd definitely recommend coming here, if you are in the area, going to or from CLT international airport, consider stopping by for some ice cream. They make it homemade and its fresh every day. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself. Whit's Frozen Custard ice cream shop in Huntersville, North Carolina is located at 10410 Arahova Drive in Huntersville. They accept major credit cards and cash, if you have it. As far as parking goes, they have a small parking lot for customers. There is regional public transportation services that come here from the CLT airport, so that's pretty cool. Just search the one that's right for your situation. And of course, ideally, having your own car or a rented one would help a lot with time. Then there's Uber and Lyft, if you need them for your travel needs too. For the most part though, it was very nice to be here and maybe hope to be here again soon, if my future travels permit to do so. Definitely a sweet treat to be had. Definitely recommended if you enjoy all the flavors of the rainbow. 5.0 stars for the overall experience. Support local! A+
