My family has gone to Bruster's for years, but after my last visit, I won't be returning. I ordered Cookie Craze and Brookie but was mistakenly served ice cream with peanut butter sauce -- I have a severe peanut allergy. After one bite, my throat began to close which led to a trip to the ER. What's most disappointing is how the situation was handled by the adults that run this business. I had to follow up repeatedly and finally got a response a month later when I reached out to corporate. I was told to file a claim that was later denied. Bruster's was not willing to help me out other than giving me a refund after I had to ask!! After seeing other reviews about incorrect orders and allergy mix-ups, I realize this wasn't an isolated case. Ownership does not care fix this issues when they arise. We served their Peach Melba ice cream with a peach pound cake we baked for a recent party and everyone loved the combination! Went through the drive thru on Saturday night around 6pm. It wasn't very busy. I asked for a large pineapple shake. I've been to multiple Bruster locations and always get the sane thing. This was my first visit here. When I pulled up to the drive thru window I was asked if I would like to tip the scoopers. I didn't have change and told the young man so. Why is it that everyone wants to be tipped these days? I understand food delivery drivers, sit down restaurants, tipping for haircuts etc but everyone expects it now. When I got home my milkshake was so sour I threw it out. I know pineapple can be kind of tart but this was ridiculous. Like I said I've had these at multiple locations. They all taste the same except for here. I'd hate to go as far as saying it was intentional since I did not tip but this was beyond being consumable. I won't go back. read more

On Saturday morning I started calling Bruster's Real Ice Cream of Tega Cay from their website, 803-548-4070, and each time I received a recording that said, "the number you are calling is busy, please try again later". I continued to call throughout the day and got the same recording. As their website indicated they were open until 9pm, I attempted to reach them through email so that I could possibly order an #Ice #Cream #Cake within their 48 Hour Policy (Needed by Monday by 5, I was aware of the policy, but due to phone issues, thought they might want my business). I received ZERO response and opted to go to PW'S ICE CREAM at 9pm Saturday night! What a God send!! The owner was so kind, so gracious and totally happy to take my order, customize it to my specs, and THANKED ME FOR THE OPPORTUNITY!! We picked up our Cake for a family birthday celebration on Monday evening and it was a total hit!! This morning, I received a phone call from the Bruster's Manager in Tega Cay, regarding the email I sent on Saturday. She indicated "I must have been calling the wrong number because they had no phone issues". I told her I was calling "from" her website. She then told me that "they were very busy that day"..., or, "I must have been calling the wrong Bruster's". She then said "well, if you had reached us our 48 hour policy would have still applied", to which I responded, "had you answered your phone, I would have been within your policy window earlier in the day". Lastly, she said "well I don't know what to tell you, the problem wasn't on our end" to which I responded, "well I don't know what to tell you other than I called PW's in Rock Hill at 9pm, they took my order with great kindness, thanked me, and I will be using them for ALL MY FUTURE BUSINESS!! Got here around closing time, but the staff was still friendly and gave us our orders. I tried their "Blast" which is their version of a DQ Blizzard. The size was good for the price and the ice cream was very creamy. I was feeling very un-original that night so I went with vanilla with brownie chunks. It was very good... and filling. Probably not the best idea at 10pm, but it satisfied the sweet craving I had. We just love Bruster's ice cream and enjoy their many premium ice cream rotating flavors, handmade concoctions and seasonal flavors all throughout the year. We are frequent customers here and will be for as long as they are here. Whenever there is good weather we love to take our girls for a cone and enjoy their outside seating area together. The staff is very helpful and always kind to our girls. My personal fav is the graham central station with Graham Ice Cream with Graham Cracker Swirl and Chocolate Flakes. Yum yum yum! read more

My family and I have visited this Bruster's location for going on three years now. The ice cream here is usually high quality and they offer a wide range of flavors, including dairy and gluten free options. The cakes are also really good, but inconsistent in shape and size. Our first birthday cake from here (purchased in 2017) was lop-sided (higher on one end than the other - and no, it did not melt). It was frozen that way and as a result, some slices were larger than the others. Try explaining the differences in cake slices to a group of 4-year-olds...then try reasoning with little Johnny when he realizes his slice of cake is 25% shorter than ALL his friends' slices...the fact that it isn't his birthday doesn't really matter. *palm-to-forehead* Nonetheless, we didn't let that impact our patronage here, and purchased two additional birthday cakes from this location more recently that were well-made and more proportionate in shape and size. Summer time brings about a lot of business here so the wait time will increase. Employees are hit or miss - some know the menu while others don't. Our family has also enjoyed eating ice cream from here several times - we probably visit the store twice a month over the summer and once a month over the winter, and the service has been relatively good...up until this past weekend. Unfortunately, our most recent trip to this location will be our last. There were two (not one but TWO) hairs in our ice cream this past week. We told the owner nicely without making a scene, and she denied it, nearly flipped her lid, and claimed we had planted the hairs in the ice cream ourselves!! Two of our teenagers literally found the hairs in their first couple bites of food, and the hair was not on top of the ice cream but IN IT. It was busy while we were there, so instead of making a big scene of it, I quietly asked for a refund because my daughter and son had lost their appetites and no longer wanted to eat ice cream from this location. The owner (a female) refused to refund the money and continued ranting about us planting the hair in the ice cream, which was ridiculous because we showed both contaminants to her. She said she would get our kids another ice cream but she would not issue a refund. I continued to explain to her that we just wanted a refund for the two ice creams with hair in them since they were inedible. However, the owner continued to claim there was no way the hair came from their employees. I told my kids to sit in the car and wait on me to handle the situation. The owner continued to act completely erratic, and when she started cursing under her breath and calling me all manner of names, I nearly walked away. The people around us were shocked by the scene as well. Finally, another employee eventually took over and refunded our money for the two ice creams we purchased. Had the owner simply reacted with respect, empathy, or offered an apology and just refunded our money, I would not be leaving this review. The way she treated us was insane, and it prompted me to share this awful experience. The sad part of all this is my family has been coming here for years and we've spent a good bit of money at this Bruster's location. It's a shame we no longer feel comfortable eating here. Bad experience all around and the lack of professionalism by the owner herself was the worst I've ever experienced. Buyer beware. read more

The worst and last visit to this location. I brought my relatives and children for a treat, only to be told that the coupons I printed from the company website were not legitimate. While the young man serving us was polite, the manager was very rude and even questioned my integrity regarding the coupons, stating that they were photocopies. They were not photocopies and were indeed printed directly from brusters.com Upon explaining to her that the coupons were printed from the website, she responded with, "Let me check," I live near this location but will not return, due to the rudeness and lack of customer service proved by the manager. Even after illustrating her mistake to her, she still did not correct the situation, which left one person in my party of six without ice cream. She continued with her aggressive tone and even tried to get into an exchange with me.
