Some the spots were a bit dirty with drinks on them not cleaned up but then someone came by and cleaned them as we were sitting there, not very well but decently haha. This cafe is tucked down inside the Place Ville Marie. They have a big seating area available, but some seating areas were not so clean. The menu board is entirely in French, but if you have any grasp of French, the menu is not hard to figure out. The staff here was efficient, but they did not seem too friendly. Besides their coffee, I've tried their vert frappé ($4) and blackberry Italian soda ($3). The vert frappé is a ice blended cream green-tea drink that came only in one size- around 16oz. The drink was really good, it tasted like green-tea ice-cream, but for the amount you got, I think it was a little pricey. Also, the blackberry Italian soda was also small for its price, the flavour was true to what it was, but the drink was so sweet I felt nauseated. Overall, this Van Houtte cafe is good for coffee. The other drinks seem to be a hit or miss and are somewhat pricey for what you get.

The first time I went there, I was having a pleasant conversation with one of the employees as he was preparing my ice cream. An older gentleman. The store was very quiet and we were just exchanging pleasantries. Out of nowhere, she steps in front of him, elbows him out of the way and takes over the conversation. She treated him like garbage, as if he's not good enough to chat with the customers himself. Since she had no idea what he and I were discussing, her presence was just rude to her employee and awkward to me. I marked this down as simple lack of social etiquette on her part, and gave the store a second chance. On my second visit, a different employee was preparing my ice cream. She was hovering from behind, and swept in like a hawk at one point. She started giving him hell because he put too much ice cream in the cup. She embarrassed him in front of me, belittled him and made him remove a fifth of the scoop that she felt was in excess. While I was paying for my ice cream, she continued to give the poor employee hell. I told the story to other customers who frequent this place, many of them have noticed her terrible behavior as well, independently of my feedback. Frankly, I am not sure if she's an owner or a manager, But she was bossing people around like she owned them. All I know is that I will no longer support her business since she treats her employees like they are less than nothing. I will also encourage anyone I know to avoid this place and the evil witch who runs it. She really reminded me of the story of Hantzel and Gretel and the witch who lured them in with sweets.

You can get things from veggies,fruits,meats,pasta sauces,drinks cold cuts! They even sell their own products! T-shirts,reusable tote bag and even soaps! Thé havé a little international section, from Indian spices to Asian Chili sauce. It's definitely a little more expensive than your average grocery store depending on why you get. Parking isn't and issue which is a plus especially in Montreal. I didn't really purchase anything I went to a little giveaway prize. But workers were nice. The women who helped me tried packing my items in cellophane paper and I guess she tried to find some but there wasn't anymore. She explained to me that she had told her boss to buy some but she never did. So she gave me used cellophane. My packages weren't really wrapped it got undone and if I didn't hold it properly the jars would have fallen. Overall looked like a crappy job of wrapping and it would have been better to just give it to be in a bag at that point.
