Out in the middle of nowhere, Seadrift, Texas, is where you can find this hidden gem. It's a large dining area, with a fun little bar with many of the locals that will tell you all the stories about Seadrift. We started out with Boudin Balls, which were a deep fried blend of rice and spicy sausage, they were delicious! We then ordered a Bubbas Boil with extra crab; three kinds: Dungeness, Snow, and Alaskan King Crab, sooooo good! We ordered our boil with the medium heat, and it was perfect. This is the easiest review I think I can ever wrote...THIS PLACE IS DELICIOUS! I was recently in Port Lavaca and wanted some awesome seafood. I was recommended this place by many locals. I doubled checked Yelp and y'all Yelpers confirmed it to be good with your reviews. So my hubs and I drove 30 minutes to Seadrift to check out Bubba's and we are so glad we did! The food is legit. It's nothing fancy but it gets the job done. You will love the food if you like seafood! On our visit, I tried the blackened grilled shrimp with a baked potato and a side salad. The shrimp were marvelous! Jammed packed with flavor and a huge helping. The baked potato that came was huge as well. I was full half way through but we didn't have a way to take the food for later, so I had to suck it up and pig out to finish all of those shrimp. They were way too good to let them go. It's ok though, I was prepared and wore stretchy pants! The hubs got the blackened redfish with broccoli (he's a weirdo, what can I say) and a side salad. His fish was cooked perfectly and it was seasoned just right. If I'm ever in the area again, I will be at Bubba's in a heartbeat. I'm still thinking about those shrimp! Yum! read more

Great place in this hidden little town. This place is worth the 10 minutes off Hwy 35 to go find. This is one of those hidden gems that are missed by thousands of travelers on the Highway that have no idea this town or much less this restaurant exist. Great boiled shrimp, sausage, corn and potatoes. We all had the lunch boil and it was great. Seasoned up just right. Nice lunch meal for a reasonable price. They have a lot of things from burgers to seafood on the menu. I plan on going back just to see what else is good. Good job Bubba Whoever you are. Some friend took us to this place and I just got to say it was great from customer service to the taste of the food it was great. I cannot say enough about this joint! Let me start with this: I don't eat seafood. I just don't like it. BUT since, my family does, and we were by the coast, we decided to go on in and try it. Came here for lunch on the way to sight see in Port Lavaca. I got the shrimp and crawfish boil. It was wonderful. Well seasoned and the sausage was probably the best sausage in a boil I've ever tasted outside of Louisiana. We also tried the blackened mahi mahi and it was great also. Had the Smoked Oyster appetizer (smoked oysters covered with very spicey melted cheddar cheese) andfried seafood platter (fish, shrimp and oysters) with vegetable medley and sweet tea. It took about 20 minutes for our waitress Brenda to take our drink order from the start I could tell Brenda wasn't having a good day . She was very curt in her demeanor. So my girlfriend had the chicken fried steak and it's was very good considering it had instant gravy on it . I had the stuffed shrimp platter it came with 4 small stuffed shrimp and a luke warm baked potato. I had to order a stuffed crab to make it a full meal My platter was very bland and very small . Always a great place to get crawfish or shrimp platter. I would label Bubba's a "hole in the wall" that you'd definitely enjoy. No need to get dressed up, it's casual laid back atmosphere. In town for a short fishing trip. After eating at Bubba's the first night, we returned instead of testing another restaurant in Port O'Connor. The owner obviously invested in the kitchen staff. We had crab stuffed jalapeños, gumbo, fried oysters, fried redfish fillets, and the grilled broccoli over the two nights. Everything was great. Friendly staff. Highly recommend. read more

We have passed this place hundreds of times and decided finally to stop. What a disappointment. Thinking Cajun, I thought we would be be in for a treat. Menu looks good but missing any Cajun element you might expect. Ordered oysters to start. But no oysters. Settled for calamari and not a good choice. Obviously not fresh and a frozen, store bought item. Decided on crawfish but no crawfish. Surprisingly they did not have have half of their menu. Next try was grilled shrimp. Sounded good and figured I couldn't go wrong being at the coast and all. When the plate came out all I could do was laugh. I have never in my life seen this before but they pan fry what seems like frozen cocktail / popcorn shrimp plop it on a plate next to a baked potato and there you have their rendition of a $15 grilled shrimp plate. Now my wife decided on the fried fish plate again thinking we're at the coast and fresh fish has to be on the menu. But nope, catfish is the only fish at this place. When the fish came the batter was different, really thick but edible. We just expected a light batter to compliment a flakey fish like catfish but wound up more like a chicken fried catfish it was good but just was not expecting it. Still baffled where the Cajun came in here but when we finally got up to leave I noticed a shaker on the table which appeared to be like a Cajun Shake of some sort but too little too late. Final bill was $57 with only teas to drink. My conclusion is I will stick with another sea food Resteraunt nearby and not go back to Bubba's. Upon checking out as the cashier asked how everything was and I said it was interesting ..... And that was that. By the way they do have alcohol the people next to us ordered a bottle of wine and at $40 a bottle I'll stick to tea. read more

Found this on Yelp and decided to give it a try. Didn't really want fried everything, so opted for one of their 'boils'. Really really fresh shrimp and blue crab. VERY messy, but worth every slurp. Tried the onion rings to get a little 'fried' and they were yum. So, why 4 stars instead of 5? Service was erratic. Waited on immediately after seating, but then waiter disappeared. Took almost 15 minutes to get our check when leaving. Restaurant was really warm. Really warm. Almost to the point of unbearable, so hold out for a table under a vent that is actually blowing cool air. Bathrooms a little overmatched too. I normally wouldn't comment on physical attributes since it's the food I'm reviewing, particularly in a small place like Seadrift. But, these were enough of an anomaly to make me notice. I would definitely go back and maybe with a better idea of what to expect, I'd be a bit more forgiving! read more

The wife and I drove 20 miles from Port Lavaca to try this restaurant, we had our heart set on boiled seafood but decided to get the fried shrimp after finding out they boil the seafood and put the seasoned butter sauce on the outside of the seafood. They advertise Cajun style but this is not true Cajun style. The service was ok , my wife had fried shrimp and onion rings, shrimp had a strong iodine taste, I had stuffed shrimp and onion rings, the stuffing had very little crab meat . My wife did try one boiled crab. No flavor unless you lick your fingers. Wish places would stop advertising Cajun style if they have no clue. Amazing food, friendly staff, very accompanying. Even for me because I suffer from A severe form of Crohns after being in the military and civilian contractor working as a aeronautical field service engineer tech supervisor in a high stress testing and evaluation and major maintenance environment for 13 years. So I can't ever just go grab a bite. Definitely worth going out of your way to stop and get your grub on or have a specially prepared meal to your specifications if necessary. Awesome, delicious food and great waitresses. Checked on us throughout the whole time we were there. My husband had the Castaway shrimp boil with no seasoning. It was enough for two that aren't big eaters. He said he was really hungry so I had the grilled shrimp and grilled vegetables since he didn't want to share. I'm glad I did.
