The sliced brisket was very tender and delicious. It was a good serving, giving me leftovers. The coleslaw and pinto beans were delicious. The BBQ sauce was very tasty. The iced tea was very good. The staff were very friendly. I like that they served the food on real plates with real silver ware and not styrofoam or plastic.

You can smell the BBQ a block away! Tons of parking! One of the local 'go to' bbq spots in this little town. Mom and pop shop that does it right! BBQ was great! Tons of sides to go along with the BBQ too!

Great ribs! Super beans! i'm hungry just looking at this. Note, the corn bread is sweet and cakey.

I have loved exploring BBQ since we moved to Texas in Dec 2016. (i'd lived here before for 8 years nearly 30 years ago) In San Angelo, my top three (in no particular order) are Rustic - Field to Table for innovative recipes that are still authentic Texas flavors and traditions. I love RJ's for it's down-home taste as as well as it's total and consistent quality. I love Bubba's for it classic representation of Texas BBQ, down to the Parkay and Mrs Baird's. Super beans (a little smoke, a little chile), fantastic ribs (fat, meaty, and some chew), cheerful service, and a good selection of sides and meats.

I have been here twice and each time the meat isn't warmed up. I hade the 2 meat special last time and the chopped brisket sandwich this time. I will have to go home and warm it up like last. For eat at the restaurant I guess you have to ask them to eat it up. The they serve it at the restaurant from my taste is cold an not edible. Warmed up it is great. If this is Texas style cold bbq, I will pass. You can be a great bbq place if you hade warm or hot food available. The bbq sauce is great. Food temp not my style, I would have give 4 stars but couldn't eat my food.

This is BBQ? 2 inch thick slices of fat laden flesh with no bark (crust), no smoke ring, and no flavor. This place has fallen way off. Sides were fairly generic and edible but most folks don't go to BBQ joints to eat sides. I like giving our local folks a chance but man this is ridiculous. Take the extra time and drive to Hamptons or Smokehouse or the Pit. Bubba's doesn't seem to be on top of their stuff anymore. They used to take BBQ a lot more seriously.

Piglet Special on Monday. 3 meats with one side and a drink. Great value

Referred here to eat the Piglet Special on Monday. Not disappointed as it comes with sausage (I had jalapeno sausage ) ham and pulled pork. Also drink and a side for about $7.00. Kind of divey but most good Texas BBQ places are. Prices and BBQ well worth it.

    Love their little sign.

Joe, Nancy's son, came down for a couple of days, and we decided to go out to eat, but didn't know…read morewhere. Then I remembered a BBQ place just up the street that has great reviews. So that's where we are headed. Up a few blocks, we spotted the BBQ place. It's called "The PIT BBQ"; not many cars here, but it is an early dinner for us. Walked in, and it looks great inside. They have a wall painted stating that 'we were once a trailer, and now we are here', or something like that. Sounds good to me. This is the type of place where you order your food after viewing the Menu Board overhead, and the guy prepares your food right in front of you. Then you pick out your drink and pay for your tray of BBQ Goodness. Joe ordered a 1/4 pound of Fatty Brisket, 1/4 pound of chopped Brisket, 1/4 pound of Jalapeño Sausage, Potato Salad, and Coleslaw. Joe also loaded up his tray with extra Jalapeños, White Onions slivers, and BBQ Sauce. When I try a new BBQ place, I like to sample the meats. I ordered a 1/4 pound of Fatty Brisket, 1/4 pound of regular Sausage, and a Quarter-Chicken. Also, the Potato Salad. I loaded up my tray with Pickles and White Onion slivers, along with the BBQ Sauce. My Wife went with their Chopped Brisket Sandwich and a Diet Coke. Joe went with a Shiner Bock 'Rocket' Draft Beer (Rocket identifies the size of the glass). I am having a Coors Light Draft. Orders are in, and the trays are full of lots of meats. Located a table and poured their BBQ Sauce on the meats on my tray. Joe and I also had a slice of bread. My first bite was the Fatty Brisket, and it was Very Moist, Tasty, and Brisketlicious, with the perfect amount of Fatty on the 1/4 pound slice I have. The BBQ Sauce is also a hit, and one of the Best tasting one in San Angelo. We all LOVE it. Joe also said that the Fatty Brisket is very tasty. My Wife Loved her Chopped Brisket Sandwich, and also said it was the Best one she has had in San Angelo, and that BBQ Sauce goes perfectly with the sandwich. My regular Sausage is Very Tasty with lots of flavor in every bite. The outer casing is a might bit thick for me, but also goes well with the Sausage, lots of flavor throughout. Joe also thought his Chopped Brisket was Very Delicious with lots of flavor, and he Loved the Jalapeno Sausage. It has the right amount of Jalapeno without setting your mouth on fire. Now for that Quarter-Chicken. Most BBQ places, at least for me, dry out their Chicken when BBQing, but at "The PIT BBQ", it comes our Juicy, Tender and Very Tasty. Especially when you add the BBQ Sauce. This is a Big Plus for me, and "The PIT BBQ" is now my favorite BBQ place in town, and we have been to a good number of them. My Wife and Joe feel the same way. This is Way Better than the others. Their Potato Salad is also very flavorful, made with Potatoes that are actually prepared the way they should be. Joe said the coleslaw was very good. This is also a plus for me because some places have a mushy Potato Salad and flat Coleslaw. Let's just say The PIT BBQ has just about everything you need when going out for BBQ, especially if you're looking for the Best BBQ in San Angelo. The seating area inside is very large with tall tables and some great decor all around. Outside, in back, they have an all-covered Patio area with fans blowing and plenty of lights, along with their Trailer they began serving their BBQ. For those cooler months, they also have plenty of heaters throughout. When enjoying your BBQ on the patio, you are on some of the thickest outdoor artificial grass, synthetic grass, artificial turf, or synthetic turf- whatever you want to call it- it's there to give our feet some comfort. Check them out on Facebook, The Pit BBQ San Angelo - also online - On the way home, we were all stuffed because we ate it all, with no leftovers for another day. This means we will be back to try some more of their BBQLiciousness - and enjoying more Cold Draft Beer.

Their menu isn't a typical BBQ menu so it took a little bit for us to decide what we wanted. You place your order at the counter and they build you bowl or plate as you order. We looked at the couple ahead of us in line and said "we will have what they are having". The Gonzo is was and to our surprise we really liked it. I'm not going to give the ingredients so you'll have to go and decide for yourself. The portion sizes are enough for two so decide together if you are going split a meal. Now, I'm born and raised mostly in Kansas City, MO, home of the world famous American Royal and American Royal BBQ so I know BBQ! My second taste is authentic Mexican food having lived in Southern California. OK back to BBQ, we decided on Bodacious simply because we have driven past it numerous times and it's close to historic downtown. The restaurant is very clean with plenty of seating inside and outside. We were welcomed in and the friendly team member took our order. The menu has several items to pick from and I was really hoping for burnt ends and did not see them on the menu. I haven't had burnt ends since leaving Kansas City back in 2013. Our wait wasn't very long until he called my name. Due to low supply of ribs my husband was only able to get a 1/2 order with his coleslaw which was ok because they discounted the price by 1/2 so not bad. I opted for the 2 meat dinner with 2 sides. I would have like a little more of the meat as I mostly got sausage. We both loved our meals, tender flavorful meat, great baked beans and the coleslaw and Mac-n-cheese were good as well. The prices were comparable to other restaurants in the area plus they have a desert choice too. While we were sitting and devouring our dinner, we noticed a lot of carry out orders so that was nice to see their carry out business was busy. We try to avoid chain restaurants and stick to mom & pop businesses and we prefer to do business downtown or as close to it as possible to support our local businesses. Those to the N, W, S, E and rural areas of town can support those outer-lying businesses. We will be returning customers and I do recommend you give these folks a try the next time you have the urge for BBQ. I hope you will be just as pleased as we were with wherever you choose your next BBQ dining.

As far as FRIED chicken their only two options (excluding BBQ) are 3 or 5 piece tenders or a bundle of wings w/tots or fries. I opted for the 5 with tots so we both could have at least 2 tenders each. As I waited I noticed the restaurant was pretty clean, the drive thru was busy and looks like they were also getting a catering order ready for delivery. My wait wasn't that long perhaps 5-7 minutes as the chicken is cooked fresh when ordered. None of that precooked crap under a heat lamp here. We really liked our chicken tender dinner w/tots and the assorted dipping sauces on the side. Nice portion size enough for 2 people for sure. No pics to post as I forgot my camera but will definitely post pics on our next BBQ mission. They do have a nice BBQ menu and I'm not sure why their online menu doesn't show chicken tender meals???
