My Wife asked me a few days back what I wanted to do for our Fathers Day Dinner and I didn't really know, but on Sunday I stated that 'Cheddars' would be good. I love their large menu choices and those Croissants - who can pass on those Golden Flaky Croissants. So, that's where we headed. We know they would be busy, and they are, but it didn't take them long to seat us in a booth. Elisha is our Server and we ordered our drinks. We both love their Cheddars Long Island Iced Teas and that's what we are going with. Drink orders are placed and Elisha served us those Mouth-Watering-Honey-Butter-Croissants. These are served right from the Kitchen pipping HOT and they Melt-In-Your-Mouth-Liciousness - Perfectly-Just-Right. Our drinks arrived as we are looking over the menu. We toasted and enjoyed some of the Best Long Island Iced Teas in San Angelo - which are Perfectly-Just-Right. It took a while to decide what to order but we finally did. My Wife is having the "Grilled Chicken Pecan Salad"; Grilled Chicken with Tomatoes, slivered Carrots, Cheddar Jack Cheese and Glazed Pecans served over Fresh Chopped Lettuce. Served with Honey Mustard Dressing. I am having their "Herb Roasted Chicken" (It's cool that Cheddars informs you what Chef roasted their Chicken - Herb must be doing pretty good); Whole Roasted Chicken cut into Quarters (not dimes - way toooo small), properly seasoned, Roasted by Chef Herb, then finished on the Grill. Served with two sides. Chose Green Beans (w/onions) and Red Beans & Rice. Order is placed and we are enjoying those Long Island Iced Teas. Lots of people are still arriving at Cheddars and having to wait just a bit - we arrived at the Just-Right-Time. Soon our food was served and both plates are covered with lots of Beautiful Food - a really nice presentation. There is a Lot of Chicken on my plate - enough for two people. The Chicken is Juicy, Tasty and Delicious - love what Chef Herb does with the Chicken - Roasted and Grilled Perfectly-Just-Right. This is One Big Tasty Chicken. Love those Red Beans & Rice. This is one of my favorite sides - anywhere - and I love the way Cheddars has theirs Spiced-Up. Their Nice-N-Fat Green Beans are some-what on the Spicy side and that's a good thing. This was a great choice for me. I can eat a lot but I didn't eat all of this Chicken and took home an entire Leg-Quarter - saving it for another day. My Wife ate all of her Grilled Chicken Pecan Salad and said it was really good - loving those Glazed Pecans and some Very Tasty Chicken. I did have a little bit of her Salad because I wanted to try it - and she did offer - that's some good stuff. The Manager stopped by to check on how everything is - and remember, it's Fathers Day and Cheddars is packed. Nicely Done Cheddars. Elisha checked on us often, and Cheddars was packed - he earned the "Dollar-Bow-Tie" Award for going Above & Beyond the Norm. With so much breading on the fish and shrimp, it is difficult to get properly cooked seafood, as was your combo seafood platter. You DO know that most people want to be able to taste their fish and shrimp and pay extra for that. We eat there often and most of the food is good. read more

I'm from Seattle and have never eaten in a Cheddar's before. Washington State does not have any. I will say right off the bat that I was not impressed. It was Mother's Day, a special day and dinner time, but they should have been prepared for the folks that came. When the food came it was cold, salty, very spicy and I was unable to chew the steak. The service was pretty good. I thought the prices were good as well. Our waiter kept us up on the time for the food. I ordered the steak and ribs. My wife who is a mom ordered the fish and baked potato. The steak was like chewing leather, it was too spicy, and the baked potato was very salty and cold. My wife's food was cold and salty as well. Another comment I read had the same issue with salty food. My ribs were great though. There were lots of little things forgotten and we had to ask many times for them. The waiter asked if I would like to talk to the manager. I told the manager of my concerns; he said they changed the steak recipe to make it spicy. I told him, for me it took over the taste of the meat. He offered to comp the steak. I told him one meal needs to be comped due to mistakes and cold food. He was good with that. The temperature outside was 14 degrees in San Angelo so daughter didn't want to leave dorm. I went to pick up food for family. Ordered online and found great deals on family meals. 2 Salmon patties and 8 tenders and 2 sides. Also ordered the Monte Cristo, and chicken Alfredo. Waited like 5 minutes once arrived. I was expecting it to be a little bit if a nicer place with a name like "scratch kitchen" but it's just a chain similar to Applebees. That being said there was nothing wrong with it--the food was decent and the staff was friendly. Definitely a solid place for lunch or dinner. I liked that the seating was all booths that I could see. Prices were also very reasonable. Not much on the lighter side... I don't like to eat a big heavy meal for dinner and my only option was a chicken salad. read more

If my food comes out cold and I let my server know that it is, don't come to my table after the plate was taken to the back, Manager Nutsack, and tell me "I felt the bottom and it was cold." Well no joke, that's why I sent it back. I didn't make a big deal about it, I wasn't mad, I didn't make a scene. I have no reason to lie or denounce your microwaved food up until you basically called me a liar Manager Nutsack. I will say I was surprised how good the food was here. It has been a long time (maybe 3 years) since I have eaten at a Cheddars. The food has always been decent, but this time the food was good enough to make sure I plan a future visit. I had a bacon cheeseburger and fries. I can't quite place the seasoning on the fries but they were delicious. The burger was cooked well and had a good flavor and was juicy. Another in our group had the t-bone and really like the flavor of their meal. The honey butter drizzled on the complimentary croissants was light and delicious. The food was fine, no problem there. we finished, but continued to talk for maybe 40 minutes to an hour afterwards and were asked to leave. I would give our server, Steffan, 5 stars if I could. He did really well with taking care of all 6 of us this evening. He remained polite and professional, so I really enjoyed the service of Cheddar's the most. Atmosphere of this place feels like a higher end kind of establishment, but once tap music scatter to play it ruined the atmosphere and was completely off. Better choice of radio station or playlist would give off good vibe to the place right of the bet. That's one of my advices to this place. Even tho server didn't get my order correctly, my actual order showed up quite fast after, so that's a small plus for my overall experience here. Here's the worst part: food I've ordered was bad. This is literally my first time getting bad food in San Angelo. My chicken was too salty and over cooked, shrimp also over cooked. Broccoli and cheese were bland. Actually whole thing would've been bland if chicken wasn't so salty. The sauce that shrimp was coated in could've saved it, but again, very over cooked. I don't think I want to come back here again, maybe just once to see if I can change my mind about my experience here. Other than that, menus was pretty big with lots of choices, including vegetarian, which is great for a small town like San Angelo to have some places that aren't just all meat. The chicken was spongelike and over seasoned. We ordered chocolate cake for dessert. The cake was frozen. I complained to the waitress that the ice cream taste bad. It came melted and wasn't scooped. Not impressed. We waited a long time before the waitress came to our table. They forgot our appetizer and brought out the main order but It it was all messed up. Beans instead of potatoes, burger delivered on a big plate with no fries. No ketchup, no salt/pepper. I asked for a drink refill and they forgot. The food was ok but not great. Burger was over cooked but I was never asked how I liked it so maybe they just guessed? Onions were obviously old and starting to go bad but they used them anyway. I came to Texas for 5 days and didn't just go here once.. But twice! Haha! I couldn't resist. The spasagna was calling me! And it does not hurt that the prices are so reasonable! Ordered an appetizer, 2 entrees, 2 alcoholic beverages and a dessert?! Came out to less than $50 with tax and tip. Super affordable, friendly service and good food. We used to love LOVE cheddars . Things have changed dramatically. The only edible thing was the salad . Even the croissants were hard and nearly burnt. We ordered the loaded fries and they were also very over cooked all of them were brown and hard and dry even with melted cheese on them the flavor was bad just tasted like cardboard'. My husband's burger did not taste like beef it tasted like it had sausage in it he said it was the worst burger he's had. I ordered the cornmeal fish and it was not seasoned just flavorless just very fishy and mushy fish in the middle my mashed potatoes tasted like fish more than the fish did like it sat in an oven and they cooked it all together. The waiter asked 5 x how the food was and finally I told him it was rough and explain why. To which the waiter said my mashed potatoes tasted like fish because I put the tartar sauce on my plate. Pft okay. And the croissants how they are cooked the ones on bottom get over cooked. But every croissant that went past me was dark brown nearly burnt. But we don't think we will be coming back.
