Ate here for lunch on a recommendation from a coworker while I was in town…read more Typical Texas BBQ joint atmosphere, quaint with a hint of BBQ smoke lingering in the air. The Food: WOW, absolutely amazing Texas style BBQ. I had the 2 meat plate, brisket and sausage with 2 sides, fries and beans. The portion size was Texas sized and this meal ended up being lunch and dinner. The brisket was Smokey and moist, the sausage had an excellent flavor with a good crisp on the skin. Fries are Fries, kinda hard to mess that up, and the beans were. The staff were friendly and smiling the entire time. They answered all of my questions and actually engaged us while we were there. I will definitely return here next time I am in town.

I was greeted as soon as I walked in the guy behind the counter helped me with my choices. I was looking for either 2 or 4 piece chicken tender meals since there are two of us for dinner. As far as FRIED chicken their only two options (excluding BBQ) are 3 or 5 piece tenders or a bundle of wings w/tots or fries. I opted for the 5 with tots so we both could have at least 2 tenders each. As I waited I noticed the restaurant was pretty clean, the drive thru was busy and looks like they were also getting a catering order ready for delivery. My wait wasn't that long perhaps 5-7 minutes as the chicken is cooked fresh when ordered. None of that precooked crap under a heat lamp here. We really liked our chicken tender dinner w/tots and the assorted dipping sauces on the side. Nice portion size enough for 2 people for sure. No pics to post as I forgot my camera but will definitely post pics on our next BBQ mission. They do have a nice BBQ menu and I'm not sure why their online menu doesn't show chicken tender meals???

2/28/2026 we opted for some BBQ after last minute changes with other dinner plans. We are 2 months…read morenew to San Angelo from the Great Lakes area so not that familiar with San Angelo. Now, I'm born and raised mostly in Kansas City, MO, home of the world famous American Royal and American Royal BBQ so I know BBQ! My second taste is authentic Mexican food having lived in Southern California. OK back to BBQ, we decided on Bodacious simply because we have driven past it numerous times and it's close to historic downtown. The restaurant is very clean with plenty of seating inside and outside. We were welcomed in and the friendly team member took our order. The menu has several items to pick from and I was really hoping for burnt ends and did not see them on the menu. I haven't had burnt ends since leaving Kansas City back in 2013. Our wait wasn't very long until he called my name. Due to low supply of ribs my husband was only able to get a 1/2 order with his coleslaw which was ok because they discounted the price by 1/2 so not bad. I opted for the 2 meat dinner with 2 sides. I would have like a little more of the meat as I mostly got sausage. We both loved our meals, tender flavorful meat, great baked beans and the coleslaw and Mac-n-cheese were good as well. The prices were comparable to other restaurants in the area plus they have a desert choice too. While we were sitting and devouring our dinner, we noticed a lot of carry out orders so that was nice to see their carry out business was busy. We try to avoid chain restaurants and stick to mom & pop businesses and we prefer to do business downtown or as close to it as possible to support our local businesses. Those to the N, W, S, E and rural areas of town can support those outer-lying businesses. We will be returning customers and I do recommend you give these folks a try the next time you have the urge for BBQ. I hope you will be just as pleased as we were with wherever you choose your next BBQ dining.

My Wife was out for the day, and when she returned, shortly after, we headed out to Bubba's…read moreSmokehouse. Bubba's Smokehouse has been recommended to us by several people, and we Love BBQ. Arrived and there were not many cars in the parking lot. As the reviews say, it doesn't look like much on the outside, but the food is really good. I think it looks very quaint on the outside, but inside looks like it was thrown together. Just inside the door is a pile of busted-up cardboard boxes lying on the floor. The place across the street is "Ban Moon", a Lao & Thai Restaurant, which has also been recommended for us to try. Their parking lot is full. Putting Ban Moon on the list. Bubba's Smokehouse dining room is filled with small tables and chairs, not much of anything else. There is a large cooler with lots of Brisket ready to be seasoned and smoked, along with large containers of Potato Salad and even larger containers of their Beans - and lots of containers of Pickles. Nice. They do have a loaf of white bread at each table for you to use at will, along with a roll of paper towels. The menu board is above the small counter where you order. My Wife went with the Brisket Sandwich with one side and chose Cole Slaw. I ordered their 2-meat plate, Brisket and Chicken. I asked if they had Moist Brisket, and the lady taking our order paused and said, well, the brisket is, well, moist. This also comes with 2 sides. I chose Beans and Cole Slaw. We also ordered 2 drinks, Diet Cokes. Orders are in, and we grabbed a table, which was easy because no one was sitting down. The aroma from the kitchen is filling the room, and it smells good. I grabbed a couple of containers of Pickles and White Onion pieces, and some silverware. Wasn't long before our food arrived in take-out containers, which is the best way to serve food at a BBQ place - no mess. My Wife's 'Moist' Brisket Sandwich has a lot of sliced Brisket piled up high, more than the other BBQ places around here, and a small container of Cole Slaw. My 2 Meat Plate has a Very Large Chicken Leg & Thigh with 2 slices of 'Moist' Brisket under. Speaking of Moist, I don't think these employees here know what Moist Brisket is because the Brisket we received is sliced regular Brisket. I first tried the Cole Slaw, and it is good. Love the juiciness and the fresh crunch. My Wife also liked the Cole Slaw. The Beans are a little dry and not much flavor until you get down to the juice in the bottom of the small container. My Large Chicken Leg and Thigh are just about lukewarm, with the leg being on the cold side. There is nothing wrong with eating cold chicken, but it's not what you want when you go out to eat. It's nicely seasoned and is Very Meaty - I like that. The Chicken itself is on the dry side, but I like the seasoning of the skin. The "Moist" Brisket is also dry because it's not a Moist Brisket, and a little tough, not tender at all, and it lacks any flavor. They do have 3 sauces for you at the table with a bottle of store-bought hot sauce. One sauce is Regular, and it's okay in flavor. The next one up is, I think, Spicy Sauce (the markings are wearing off), and it's not much different than the regular sauce. The sauce marked 'Hot' is on the mild side, but overall, they are all pretty good and provide added flavor to a not-so-flavorful brisket. I didn't try the store-bought hot sauce. The Pickles are delicious, with a nice crunch, and the white onion has very little onion heat to them, but they also have a nice crunch. The best I can say is that we tried Bubba's Smokehouse, but I doubt we will return. The best thing on our plates was the Cole Slaw, but my Wife did enjoy her sliced Brisket Sandwich, and she tried all of their sauces, regular, spicy, and hot. I ate one of the slices of Brisket along with a few bites of Chicken. The rest I'm taking home to see what I can do to improve what I can. Bubba's Smokehouse is not what we expected, especially since it has been recommended to us several times. We have yet to find a really good BBQ place in San Angelo, but we will stick to the one we usually attend until we do. Wherever we go out to eat, we always have fun and enjoy the outing. The Staff at Bubba's is very friendly.

"MOTHERS DAY LUNCH OUT - KOREAN STYLE"…read more Our Mothers Day Celebration was up to my Lovely Wife, Nancy. We have wanted to try out GoGo GoGi Korean BBQ since it first opened and we have yet to do so - and it's only a few blocks from the house. Sunday morning she informed me to make reservations for the three of us at GoGo GoGi for a 12:30 Lunch, if you can. I went on-line and made our reservations - it's that easy. So, after Church and Sunday School, we came home for a bit and then left for GoGo GoGi. I have had lots of Korean food when I was stationed in Korea (60yrs ago) for 14-Loooooooong months and enjoyed all that I tried - and most food I didn't even know what I was eating. I'm sure at GoGo GoGi I will know what I am ordering. Anyway, we arrived right on time, gave them my name and we were shown to a booth. GoGo GoGi is a place where you can cook the food you order right at your table or order something that they will prepare for you in their Kitchen. The Decor here is Very Unique and well done with every area somewhat private with each booth having their own cooking area in the middle of the table. Charlie is our Server and right away we wanted to order our drinks - and we know what that is. They have a Sunday Special on Bloody Marys for only 6-Bucks - that's what all of us want. Charlie explained what their Daily Special is for Mothers Day, how they operate at GoGo GoGi and what they have to offer, especially for first timers. This took a while because GoGo GoGi has a lot to choose from - This trip out we decided to take it easy and ordered from their Lunch Menu Specials. We are going with what Charlie recommended; the "Spicy Tofu Stew" (without the tofu - we've had it and don't care for it) This Stew consist of Egg & Steamed Rice, an Authentic Korean Favorite. Served with an Egg Role & drink of choice. "Wings"; Six-Wings tossed in Honey-Garlic Sauce (choice). Served with French Fries and a drink of choice. "K-Tacos"; A Korean-Mexican Fusion Dish. Three-Flour Tortilla Tacos with Beef (choice), served with a side of Corn. All three of these dishes are being shared by the three-of-us to sample what GoGo GoGi has. It might not be a true Korean meal but it is what we are going to try - besides, Tacos are good anywhere and from anywhere. Soon after we ordered our Bloody Marys arrived and they are in a Very Nice Size Glass. We toasted and the first sip told us something about this drink - this is some Goooood Stuff. We all LoVe Bloody Marys and I will say that these Bloody Marys are the Best we have had in San Angelo. The Spiced taste is Spot-On-Perfect and balances out very well with the rest. Perfectly Flavorful - and instead of an Olive they added an Okra. One of the Staff brought over three metal dishes with some kind of sauce for each of us - I asked what it was and they didn't know. I tasted it and it's good, not much flavor but kind of nutty and served cold. While we waited for our food we enjoyed those Bloody Marys. Soon the 'Spicy Tofu Stew' (minus tofu) arrived along with the 'Wings'. Their serving bowls are very Unique and different - love'em. We actually dipped the soup bowls into the larger bowl of Spicy Soup and served in a long Boat dish. This made it easier to serve to each of us. (the Spoon they provided was much to small to serve from the Big bowl to the Smaller ones for each of us) This 'Spicy (minus tofu) Stew' (which is actually soup) is what it says - It's SPICY, but not overly so, just enough to taste the rest of the ingredients they don't list - and it's some good stuff. Joe didn't care for the Spicy Stew (soup), but Nancy and I did. Next are the 'Wings' - these are Small Wings that have a Thick Crunchiness to them and are carrying some Spice. They do have a nice crunch but not much meat - and it is tasty with Very Unique Flavoring. While we were enjoying two of the three items we ordered, the third item, the 'K-Tacos' arrived and they are Very Thick and stuffed full of goodies not listed on the menu - with a container of Corn to the side. We each grabbed one and I added some Corn to mine along with that nutty stuff we were first served, whatever it is. The Flour Tortilla was grilled just enough and all the goodies inside made this a Very Tastylicious Korean-Mexican Fusion creation - and like I said, Tacos are good anywhere and from anywhere - and they make you happy - it's what Tacos do. Charlie was really good in providing us with lots of information on what GoGo GoGi offers - and earned the "Dollar-Bow-Tie" Award. - But - also found out after we returned home that we didn't get the Steamed Rice & Egg Role with the Stew (or Soup) or the French Fries with the Wings - and a drink of your choice with some of the items we ordered. These were all listed on the menu - oh well, live and learn - we still had fun and the place is Very Unique. We will go back and try the 'cooking' at your table part... Looks Like Fun.
