I had the BEST time with Captain Rob and Alejandra! I did the morning snorkel raft tour and it was so much fun. We got to see the Na Pali Coast, explore sea caves, and hear so many stories about the Hawaiian history. They also stopped to point out a pod of dolphins, turtles, and even a monk seal sleeping along a beach. Captain Rob was so attentive with driving the boat that it was fun and adventurous but felt so safe too. Alejandra checked in on everyone throughout the trip and kept us laughing with the jokes. They were so helpful with making sure we all got our fins and mask/snorkel for the snorkel portion of the trip. You could tell they both genuinely wanted everyone to have an amazing experience. One of the highlights of our week in Kauai. The crew of the North Star truly offered outstanding customer service. The teamwork was outstanding, and they authentically looked for ways to connect with their guests. Exhibit A: Anyone wearing sunglasses on a boat ride is constantly trying to wipe away the mist from their lenses. Multiple times, crew members walked around the ship seeking wet glasses they could clean for their customers. Mine were offered to be cleaned twice. We saw multiple types of dolphins and Captain Thomas stopped for all of us to snap photos (while deftly selecting "Part of Your World" from The Little Mermaid movie on the stereo). The food was truly great (yes, get the cheeseburger). But, what was even more impressive was seeing the commitment of Chef Jimmy AFTER the meal was served. On the way back to the harbor, our family sat in the aft area and I watched as he spent almost a full hour deep cleaning the barbecue. He climbed all around under, and over it to wipe down every nook and cranny. In a world where most people seem to be looking to do the bare minimum, Chef Jimmy seemed to be trying to get it as clean as possible while he had the opportunity. And, yes, he also cleaned my sunglasses after he was done. Super impressive, guys! P.S. Our daughter noticed an itch on her arm as we pulled back into the harbor. We asked the staff in the office before we left what it might be, and a team member recognized it as an unfortunate interaction with a Portuguese Man O War. She wasn't in serious pain, but was offered a treatment kit and care recommendations. I've done some research and chose Captain Andy's boat tour on Kauai, and it turns out better than expected. First of all high quality catamarans with very clean restrooms, and their crew are professional, particularly captain Larry and chef Tina on our boat Northern Star Yacht were amazing. The snorkeling part was meh, murky water and barely any fish, but the dolphins and whales along the way were so much fun. The stunning Na Pali Coast views are breathtaking, on top of great food, I've tried and liked both chimichurri grilled chicken and cheese burger, it costs about $300 per person, including tax and tips. read more

Absolutely amazing! The Na Pali coast was breathtaking (honestly would be with any company you go with) but this review is about the business. Our crew was absolutely amazing and so sweet! We were with captain Kyler, Kevin, Andrew, their first mate (I forgot her name unfortunately), Chef Marc and the photographer Phoenix. Everyone was so sweet, attentive and friendly making our time out there so much fun. Food wise it was delicious! I feel like you couldn't go wrong with a burger but I went for the captains choice: a marinated grilled chicken thigh with chimichurri, herby aioli and with potato salad. It definitely hit the spot. I wished they offered the Mai tai options they have for the sunset time frame but the wine was chilled, crisp, and satisfying. The facility was super organized and clean, like restrooms.. 10/10 was super clean. I love how it wasn't super packed to the max amount of people on the boat which made it more enjoyable. Book this tour!!! We sailed with Captain Andy's while visiting Kauai in late July. We went with the morning BBQ star snorkel cruise and loved it. They served us yummy breakfast sandwiches and fruit before we jumped in the water and snorkeled for an hour. After the snorkel we headed up to the Napali coast. It gets a little bumpy heading up because of the speed of the boat but it honestly wasn't bad at all and I didnt see anyone on the boat struggle with seasickness. The coast was just surreal, so magnificent to see it up close . We saw dolphins too. I liked the fact that they had a photographer on board that was capturing everything and you had the option to purchase photos at the end. It was nice because I didn't have to worry about carrying around a camera or phone and some people would park on the side of the deck and take all the space and take pictures the entire time never moving over for other people to take photos as well so it was nice to have the photographer there to catch them. The lunch was also delicious and cooked on the spot. They also had beer, seltzers, water, and sodas. All in all, it was a great day, I would recommend Captain Andy's if you're looking to see the Napali coast by boat. read more

Capt Andy's is great! They have truly wonderful customer service and have polished their outings down to the last detail. Our entire crew was wonderful. IMPORTANT NOTE: we all ended up getting sea sick (there was 5 of us), but this was not the fault of the crew at all--we learned we are all just prone to sea sickness. Especially as you near the Napali coast, it is very bumpy. Note that you will be on the boat for around 5 hours--if you are prone to motion sickness at all, we would not recommend this. It inevitably gets bumpy and for five hours, it is a lot to handle for anyone who is not an experienced with boats/sailing. ***Also note: this is not mainly a snorkeling excursion. We signed up thinking the focus would be snorkeling, but we went to a sub-par snorkeling spot (barely saw any fish) for around 45 minutes than were back on the boat for the rest of the time. This excursion is mainly about being on the boat and seeing the Napali Coast, which is very beautiful. However, overall, if you are looking for a snorkeling outing or are prone to seasickness, I would pass on this. You can see the Napali via helicopter, which may be the better option. The ride is so bumpy near the coast that it is hard to enjoy the beauty. This outing is quite expensive so we just want people to be aware of the drawbacks ahead of booking. Again, Capt Andy's is WONDERFUL and were so kind and entertaining the whole day, it is just quite a long time to be on the boat if you're not accustomed to it. If you're looking for a boating excursion, want to see the Napali Coast by boat, and don't get sea sick at all, Capt Andy's is the way to go. read more

If you are on Kauai - do this trip. (We did the sunset dinner cruise). You deserve it. Was a highlight of our trip, and my partner just kept saying "Epic" over and over as words failed him. First, this company is incredibly well run. It's smooth sailing (pun intended) from start to finish. Easy online sign up, good reminders, and tons of needed info was provided. We knew how to dress, how to prepare, and what to expect. The team they put together was so great. Our amazing Captain was really skilled, and you could tell she was all pro. The ride was smooth and we even got in some sailing in the lower winds. She managed some rolling waves like they were nothing and could not have felt safer. Our chef Kevin (we also learned is the company's Training Officer) did an unreal job. While we sailed, we enjoyed delicious cocktails, and a wonderful meal - tasty appetizers, really well cooked and season steak and fish, and a cheesecake treat to finish. The drink were flowing all trip long and it made this sunset dinner cruise feel like an elite party with our 45 new friends. The crew was also so great. Whether it was their charm, their attention to detail, or just their warmth, Noah, Caleb, and Timmy were top notch. They managed to do all their work, keep the ride steady, spot amazing marine life (we got frolicking dolphins AND a mama/baby whale sighting), keep us fed, run drinks, tell jokes, share stories about this lovely place they live. These guys have all the skills you need for this kind of engaging tour. And of course, the views. Now, this company didn't create this coastline - but they know exactly how to spotlight it. I can't recommend this company and experience enough, my wife and I were able to get a last minute booking with them after another excursion was cancelled. We went with the Na Pali Raft Snorkel Tour, our guides Captain Jacob and first mate Logan were incredible from start to finish. They were extremely knowledgeable about the local Hawaiian history and all that the coast had to offer. Keep in mind the raft version of the tour is physically demanding so be wary of that but it is totally worth it. We got to swim in the open ocean off the coast, they took us inside a few of the caves (only available depending on conditions), the provided snacks and refreshments. We did the six hour tour to the Na pali coast with Captain Keanu and first mate Devon. This trip exceeded my expectations! I am typically a very anxious and risk-averse person, and I felt incredibly safe on this raft, even with the fast speed of the boat and navigation of the waves. The captain and first mate gave incredible historical background and had knowledge about the land, sea, and indigenous people. We were able to see dolphins, sea turtles, and they snorkeling was the perfect amount of time before our barbecue lunch! Captain Kyler and the whole crew who took us on a tour of the Na Pali Coast did a phenomenal job! We started the trek out to the coast by seeing some dolphins and sitting on the netted area in the front of the catamaran boat. It definitely was a splash zone but so fun! They offered a light breakfast with sweet breads, muffins, and fruit. We saw the spinner dolphins who were resting but still moving. It was so cool to see! Shortly after, we stopped under a beautiful mountainside of the Na Pali Coast to go snorkeling. The water temperature was perfect and the water color was beautiful. Kyler, Tahane, and Donovan were so organized and helpful when making sure everyone was set up okay since the waves were kind of aggressive. Our group had 14 people ranging in age, and somehow Captain Rob and Logan managed to make the entire experience incredible for EVERYONE. These two were exceptional. They matched our energy perfectly, kept the vibes fun and upbeat, and made everyone feel comfortable and included. The conversation was engaging, hilarious, and never felt forced. They were also incredibly knowledgeable about Hawaiian history, the surrounding area, and all of the amazing sights we passed along the way. I learned so much while having an absolute blast. One of the coolest parts of the entire excursion was getting to ride into some of the sea caves! It was such a unique experience and definitely something I'll never forget. Captain Rob navigated the caves with such confidence, skill, and expertise. You could tell he knew the waters extremely well and knew exactly how to navigate those areas safely while still giving us an incredible experience. And Logan was the perfect co-captain. The two of them worked together so seamlessly and were clearly in sync throughout the entire trip. It was obvious that they trusted and complemented each other, which made the whole experience feel effortless. Logan was attentive, helpful, knowledgeable, and just as much a part of making the day amazing as Rob was. And then there was the way we came back into the dock with AC/DC's *Thunderstruck* playing. THE PERFECT ending! The energy was absolutely unmatched, and our entire group was having the time of our lives. Rob and Logan truly made this excursion what it was. This was my second tour by boat around the Napali Coast. This coast is the prettiest I've seen in my life and I wanted my daughter to experience it. Our last tour was by raft which was quite rough. These waves are not calm and can rock the boat (pun intended). Captain Andy's provides catamarans that devour the big waves which make the ride so much more bearable than a raft. However, you do pay the price for the luxury. They also provide coffee, ice cold water, soft drinks, and other services like knowledge about the islands. My daughter had a cut on her leg from the day before and one of the crew members brought us three different bandaid options for her. I thought that was great attention to detail. Dinner is what's expected on a boat feeding 30 guests. You get appetizers (the best part), bread with cheese and delicious prawns. You get an option of mahi mahi and filet for your entree and a salad. We sat next to a couple who were not comfortable during dinner due to the boat inactivity. When the boat is standing still, it rocks and rocks which can lead to getting seasick. I felt it a little and others felt it more. I loved this tour and I hope to continue taking tours of the Napali Coast, hopefully finding one a little shorter than this five hour sunset cruise. I think it was an hour too long. Although, if this is what I have to endure to get a beautiful view like the Napali Coast, then I guess I'm ok with it. Unlike the photos online, we didn't straddle the raft, but sat sideways with our feet under rope for safety. One boat captain and one staff came along. We got to see a mother and baby dolphin, just born that week, and some spinner dolphins. This raft was swift, and towards the end, we saw a whale breach from the water. It is definitely worth going on the earlier tours. We felt so special cuz we had an amazing crew, and we saw more whales than the other 5 companies that went out that morning. Unforgettable Nā Pali Coast Experience with Captain Andy's Hands down one of the best experiences we had on Kauai. We went to Kauai during a very rainy and stormy week and all the other companies were cancelling tours....Not Captain Andy's! Captain Rob and crew member Sawyer were absolutely fantastic--professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely fun to be around. You can tell they truly love what they do, and it made the whole tour even better. The Nā Pali Coast was breathtaking, and the beach stop was unreal. Everything felt safe, well-organized, and relaxed, which let us fully enjoy the scenery, swimming, and snorkeling. Captain Rob shared great stories and insights along the way, and Sawyer went above and beyond to make sure everyone was taken care of. Including our photographer! From our arrival at their office just before sunrise to the actual tour and back everything was top notch. We got to sail with Captain Larry and his crew, Greg, John, and chef Johnny. They were very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was delicious. Half pound burgers with a homemade slaw and baked beans. Then a delicious homemade macadamia nut chip cookie. So soft and chewy! The coast was breathtakingly beautiful. Pictures just don't do it justice. Being there in December we weren't sure how the water would be but we were happy that what seemed like a stormy morning turn into a beautiful day at sea. Yes there were waves but not out of control crazy. My husband who often gets seas sick did fine. Made the ride back adventurous. Everyone was laughing and having fun. Captain Larry had a playlist that was enjoyed by all. It became one big singalong. There were several people that did get sea sick. I We even saw a couple whales. Watched dolphins play around our catamaran and got to do some snorkeling. There's not really anything I would change. Highly recommend going on this adventure with them. read more

We visited Kauai 3 weeks ago (our 1st time here) & the excursion we talk most about is Capt Andy's Zodiac tour!!! We had the BEST time with Captain Ted & 1st Mate Sawyer. Both were so knowledgeable and always making sure everyone was comfortable & having fun. Captain Ted has been doing this for 43 years. Both he & Sawyer were amazing & we felt like we were in the best of hands. They took us through several caves, saw dolphins & were able to snorkel. The beautiful scenery of the coastline looks fake. Absolutely gorgeous!!! We highly recommend this tour to anyone who likes a little adventure & a whole lot of fun!!! read more
