Love this place. They have unique flavors that you can't find most other places. The service is pretty fast even if they have a line. I used to consult Yelp to determine if the food at restaurants was good. But during the Coronavirus, I'm finding Yelp essential to find out whether restaurants have outdoor seating and are abiding by restaurant COVID regulations and best practices so that's the focus of this review. I hope that it will help others since this information is not readily available elsewhere. So, in addition to Yelp's traditional stars, I'm taking liberties with the English language and awarding my own "KOVID KUDOS" (Krispy Kreme and Kwik Trip have also wrought havoc on the English language)! KOVID KUDOS are my selective assessment on a 5 point scale of the restaurant's COVID attentiveness such as wearing masks and social distancing, operational reinvention and staff attitude under these unusual pandemic circumstances. Bubbles gets a 5/5 on KOVID KUDOS because they are paying attention. We appreciate it. They have four or five outside tables and if you can nab one, you can place your order with a server there. If it's raining, it's the place to be since you'll be protected under the roof. If you can't score a table, the drive-in is the only other way to order. On one visit, we got a table but on another we went through the drive-in line. The "car" in front of us was actually two little kids walking through the drive-in to place an order since you can't go inside. Very cute! Even though the drive through option is not as convenient as ordering at the counter, we appreciated the system they put in place to protect their staff and us. They were not serving a few items such as the Epic shakes because it required too much manual handling of glassware, which Bubbles was avoiding. We wanted an Epic shake, but appreciated why we couldn't get one. We were grateful, actually. BTW, the staff were all wearing masks and seems very comfortable operating in this environment. I do wish they had disposable menus outside instead of the stapled wads of paper menus. That would be a "plus." Still, Bubbles is paying attention and does a nice job. The ice cream, as you probably know, is outstanding. My favorite is the Smores Sundae with Turtle Ice Cream. It has a big delicious brownie hiding under all that deliciousness. I'm also partial to the graham cracker dust they sprinkle on top. Love this place. read more

Ice cream was delicious. The two young girls working were fantastic. The owner who was sitting in his chair on the other hand was extremely rude to his two young employees. Specially a girl named Megan. He sat in his chair eating a bowl of popcorn and proceeded to make a comment to her about "it not being her first day" when she was looking for a bag for me. It almost made me want to speak up and defend the poor girl. She looked so uncomfortable. She needs to leave that place and go somewhere where she will be treated with respect. This is the best ice cream ever! And yes, the $13 EPIC shake is absolutely worth trying at least once in your life! The dole whip is very unique and delicious! They have 34 hard ice cream flavors! If you are into vintage throwbacks, they have phosphates....reminisce back to those good days when being a soda jerk was a good thing. Bubbles is a fun place. Lots of ice cream flavors, a variety of cones to choose from, and even epic shakes (which I haven't tried yet). The double scoop is too much for me. Bubbles Ice Cream Parlor is a community staple. The customer service is great and the ice cream is so good. The interior is a fun throw back to the ice cream shops of the past (COVID has kept Bubbles being drive through only). The owners support the community and community events and last year when the lock downs first occurred, Bubbles was giving out free PB&J and milk to kids who were facing food insecurity and lack of school lunches. Stopped here after a visit to Washington Park Beach recently. Nice, clean establishment with an extensive menu and overall good service. The young lady who waited on me appeared to be new but she did acknowledge me and ask how she could help me. I decided to order a banana shake, it just sounded so good on a hot day. She seemed a little hesitant and asked another employee how to make the shake. The other employee showed her how to make the shake and gave her a few pointers. She did really well and I had my shake in a matter of minutes. Now I live in Chicago and there are plenty of ice cream parlors throughout the city but I can honestly say that this may be one of the best if not the best milkshakes I've ever had. Maybe it was the delicious banana flavor or perhaps the creaminess of the cold ice cream but it was just so delicious. I'll be coming back soon with the family and trying more of their delicious treats.
