Buc-ee's Blues: The Case of the Unreturnable Tee I woke up this morning hoping yesterday's experience at Buc-ee's in Texas City on April 18, 2025, was just a bad dream, but sadly, it was not. During my visit at 5:45 p.m., I encountered an assistant manager who, regrettably, provided the worst customer service I've ever experienced at any Buc-ee's location across Texas. I was returning two Buc-ee's shirts that I had purchased with birthday gift cards. After trying one on at home, I realized that the Medium size wasn't comfortable for me. I immediately placed it back in the bag with the other shirt to return at my earliest convenience. Despite having my receipt, the assistant manager refused to accept the return, citing the shirt's scent of perfume, and was notably rude and demeaning in her response. This experience has made me reconsider the return policy at Buc-ee's. It seems one must try on clothing with a plastic bag or risk facing unnecessary challenges when returning items that simply don't fit well. The Buc-ee's hype is real. It's probably the best gas station stops in the US or maybe even the world. With a huge selection of snacks, drinks, food and merchandises at pretty low prices, it's unbelievable that it's a gas station shop and not a mini Walmart. Buc-ee's carries their own in-house brand food items and they are actually good, if not better than the real thing and much cheaper. Their copy cat Cheetos and Funyuns are tastier. They also make a bunch of to-go food items on the spot like brisket sandwiches, pull pork sandwiches, tacos and burritos. The BBQ sandwiches are really good value for its quality and taste. I tried their sliced brisket sandwich and it was tender and tasty. Quite impressive for gas station food. Don't forget to grab dessert as they have many fudge flavors, sweet fruit kolaches and banana pudding. If you're a visitor from out of state definitely make Buc-ee's a pit stop during your trip. Well this was a fun discovery experience for all of us! This particular Buc-Ees was the intro to the institution that is Buc-ee's! This is unlike any convenience store you've ever been to. This was my first time at Buc-ee's and I had high expectations because of all of the hype. I have to say it was worth all the hype! Lots of cool things to buy, local area-branded items, perfect for souvenirs! Lots of options for snacks and even had a place where you can pick up a very yummy looking lunch. We didn't buy any of the premade food or order sandwiches or anything, but it was definitely a place that I would go to get those things if we were hungry. Everyone is very friendly. The bathrooms were very clean. Tons of gas pumps as well, so there were no issues getting gas at a pretty cheap price compared to other gas stations in the area. read more

Yep that's right 5 stars from me!!!! Buc-ee's is so cool. They sell everything. T-shirts, dog treats, leashes, dishes, decorations, clothes, tchotchkes, homemade fudge(tons to select from) homemade beef jerky in a lot of different flavors, homemade bake goods. I love the oatmeal raisin cookies! And don't forget the homemade BBQ. I love their BBQ sandwiches. We have them for dinner quite of course on road trips. It may be small but it's stocked with a good selection of medications. No price gouging from the beaver. You can get generic Sudafed and cough drops for under $5. First let me say I go here because it's between home and work so it is convenient for me to stop here and get gas which I also bank with TDECU next door and have a Onyx/Platinum Mastercard which give me 5% per gallon off price. Now what I hate and it has become more and more of an issue here lately is the pumps being out of receipt paper! so now I have to go through the traffic hazard parking lot to go in and ask for my receipt only to have the cashier ask me, after I tell her the pump# and the amount of the receipt, what credit card did I use, can she have the last 4 number of the card??? Now after a 11 hour shift I really don't need this. It's very hard not to get upset after being inconvenient at the pump and than again in the store. Give me a Break! read more

I live nearby and this is my go-to gas station for literally everything. I understand that because this bucees serves food they'd like for animals to not be in the establishment but this was after 9pm and while the white shirt male informed me in a professional and nice manner that I should leave because I was holding my cat, who had a harness and leash on, I respected it and left. But imagine all of the traveling people coming down 45 with animals and not wanting to leave them alone in a hot car while getting items in the store. Idk it just rubbed me the wrong way. I love Buc-ee's for their clean restrooms, great access, and great fuel prices. I have now been to about a dozen locations between Georgia, Florida and Texas. Unfortunately, I have been very disappointed with their food. The couple times I tried a brisket sandwich it had way too much fat and way too much sauce. I decided to try one of their salads and had to stop eat it due to the amount of dirt, or gritty sand, on the lettuce. It obviously was either not washed or poorly done. Hopefully they will improve their food quality over time with more feedback from customers. I do love the coffee, real half and half, and other drinks. Huge truck stop with everything from kitchen staples to knick knacks, clothing and convenient foods. You can't stop here without getting a brisket sandwich and that's just what I did along with a salad and a few trinkets. The salad was very good and the brisket sandwich didn't disappoint. My trip to Houston was to visit some friends and check out some points of interest, with a day trip planned to Galveston. My friend told me a stop at Buc-ee's was non-optional. Here's me telling you: if you haven't been before, don't drive by a Buc-ee's without stopping in! This is one of those things that is the epitome of the phrase "Everything's bigger in Texas." The only (stereotypical) thing that would make Buc-ee's more Texas is if they'd sell guns & ammo, for they already sell bait. The selection is unparalleled. In addition to the more typical snacks and drinks, there is a prepared food section. This doesn't hold a candle to anything a regular gas station carries. They carry at least some grocery items as well! While I didn't specifically seek these out, salsas and Secret Aardvark hot sauces (highly recommend, btw). Other items are seasonal/holiday items, clothing, travel mugs, and BBQ's/Smokers. This list is by no means exhaustive; I have a modicum of sanity to preserve! Finally, when they say they have some of the cleanest restrooms, they aren't kidding... these were truly spectacularly clean. I did buy some beaver nuggets, but I have decided to save these for when I get home to prevent suitcase mishaps. Buc-ee's is like the biggest convenance store on the strongest steroids... it is massive! If you have never been to one be prepared... it is the department store of gas stations. Not only do they have a ton of pumps.. like 50 or more... they also have a kolache counter, a jerky station, a hot sandwich island, a homemade fudge area, fountain drink sections a plenty, and several areas for things like banana pudding, fruit cups, and so on. All of this and then aisle after long aisle of snacks, buc-Ees branded candy, beaver nuggets, dried fruit, etc. The selection of drinks, food and candy is truly staggering. Everything from all of the Buc-ee's branded items to all of the normal and premium type items. It is a junk food lovers paradise! While all of this is majorly impressive there is yet more... One whole side of this place is a shopping mall of "stuff"! From boots to pics to coolers to grills, to just all kinds of things! It is amazing the things they sell here. The bathrooms are always spotless. Clean beyond what anyone could expect considering the amount of people that go through here and all. Lastly... there are more checkout counters open with friendly/happy people then at most Walmart's on any given day. They get you out fast. I always love going into Buckees and if you haven't been into Buckees, you definitely need to go. This was a very good Buckees however, understand that since Buckees it is usually pretty busy. When we went to bathrooms were clean. There was a Lotta good food around brisket, sausage, roasted almonds, roasted peanuts. Everything you could ever imagine. I always get a Mountain Dew fountain drink, I always get roasted almonds and sometimes I'll get there homemade rice crispy treats. I will be going back to Buckees again, and recommend it to anyone that hasn't been. read more

All of these Buc-ee's stores are oh-so busy now... I really only like going in to shop during off-peak times. I get it... all those gas pumps and clean bathrooms are awesome. Passing though Texas and I had to see what all the buzz was about. WOW! Buc-EE's has made me a believer. I visited the Texas City location.... 100 pumps! No waiting, no honking, everyone is happy. I also paid $3.89/gallon which was the cheapest gas I purchased on my road trip. I enjoyed a brisket sandwich, which wasn't bad at all. A 20lb bag of ice to fill my Yeti was just .99! This is one of the best Buc-ee's in the whole world and I love coming down here because the gas is usually cheap and it's absolutely enormous and it's also one of the quietest because there's hardly anyone coming down this way I guess as Galveston isn't as popular as it used to be. So, I'm breaking the implied rule of a prolific Yelper from Sin City and writing an update with the same Yelp rating and number of stars. In Buc-ee's' case, that could be very conceivable because featuring so many different fueling islands and having such a big store would allow the visitor to keep seeing it from additional and new perspectives. I usually don't purchase fuel here. I find that, in this area, the prices at the major Top Tier stations and at Buc-ee's (or warehouse stores) aren't as far apart as they may be in other parts of the country. That said, I needed to use the restroom, buy a few postcards (if they had them), and see what sort of a snack I might buy after having lunch at a cool little Italian eatery in League City. I used the restroom, which was enormous, hee haw-ish, and very clean. Then, I set out on a quest for a few postcards. From time to time, I still send them. To some of my goofier and more freewheeling friends, I might write or sketch idiotic and politically incorrect things on the back of them that might have the mail carrier scratching his or her head. (I'm sure they've seen stranger things and it's certainly better than having to pepper spray an aggressive dog.) The employee did not really know what postcards were or where they might be, instead thinking I was inquiring about greeting cards. I asked him to point me toward the greeting cards because I sensed that postcards might be nearby. He even walked me over to that general area. I found some. All of the employees here have routinely been helpful on every visit. Lastly, toward the back wall where all the soft drinks and coffee are located, one can buy cookies baked on site. I also bought some larger and reasonably priced chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin cookies that I ate while in the car. Buc-ee's certainly earns its stripes. Everything is a "superlative" of sorts, as if trying to make some biggest and best lists. While there may not be a lot of some things, there's a little bit of everything, making it almost like a small department store. However, in terms of edible things, there's no shortage of those, even though most of the offerings are far from being health food. The thing that really got to me was that there was a school bus in the parking lot and school kids with their teachers were rowdily making their way through the entrance as I was leaving! I asked one of the teachers if they were on a field trip, and his answer was yes. I just hope that the field trip's primary destination was Space Center Houston, Galveston or the Kemah Boardwalk ... and NOT Buc-ee's! I did have one gripe. Most of their postcards were of generic countrified Texas scenes. Come on, man! You're at the edge of America's fourth largest city. I was actually looking for postcards of Houston and Galveston. I did find a couple of them, but the selection of city skyline postcards amounted to "slim pickins'." I won't deduct any stars for this because they have a little bit of everything, but do pay attention, Buc-ee's management. And also because the place is guaranteed to make you laugh or, at the very least, put a smile on your face. read more
