I stepped foot into this Kroger and was completely impressed at first sight. The deli section is full of an assortment of baked goods, salads, and sandwiches. They even have an olive bar full of a variety of olives you can add to a plate to go. Lunch or dinner would be a delight here. The food seems fresh and of good quality. It's easy to navigate and not too crowded. You can also pick up some fresh pre-packed fruit for a healthy snack option. The aisles are clean, organized, and clearly labeled with the day's deals and coupons. Since I haven't shopped at a Kroger for groceries in years, I decided to get a membership plus card to take advantage of their sales. There's also a Starbucks located inside. Everyone I've dealt with so far has been helpful, especially the attendants at the self-check-out aisle.

August 14, 2024 What the heck Krogers... I'm trying to order groceries online and you're out of stock on so many items and produce?? You best step it up...Randall's is closing so, get with the program

Don't let their shoppers pick out anything for you without checking items before you leave!

When ordering food from Kroger on the Seawall to pick up, I suggest checking all items before leaving the store. I've had ongoing issues with expired food from Home Chef meals to produce. Here is an example off Avocados I picked up just yesterday

The self checkout area! Everyone here was needing help to finish checking out!

We originally came in to purchase a car sticker after having a vehicle inspected. There were a few people in line ahead of us at the Customer Service desk. While we waited I enjoyed looking at the beautiful flowers for sale in the floral department. Before long we were waited on by a sweet woman who was just a month away from retirement. I don't remember her name, but she was such a delight! She is staying on to help work Mothers Day and then she'll retire! She was very friendly and professional as she got the car sticker printed off for us. We shopped for a few things we needed and then we were off to the checkouts. It didn't appear that any cashier lanes were open so we headed to the self checkout. Disaster Zone! We had to get help from the self checkout cashier that helps fix your orders so you can finish your transaction not once but twice! The second time was reviewed by the cashier and we were told because more than one person was helping scan things. Really!?! So, make sure only person in your party does the entire checkout process. With all the assistance we received it would have been more efficient to just have more cashier lanes open!

Had a great chocolate cake. I did not take a picture of the cake but did of the tag on it. The cake was moist and good, the white chocolate layer was yummy and the chocolate on top was perfect!! It was a small cake for my hubby and me. (Good thing -we could have ate tons more of it)

So I visited Galveston with my family this summer and of course we needed last min items. Of course we were lost but one of their store pick up shoppers was beyond helpful!!! Her name is Kendra she basically knew the store like the back of her hand. And took the time to help us find coolers sunscreen to snacks and more also she knew the deals for that week!!! All I can say is Amazing!!! And thank you Kendra!!!!

Stopped in at the Galveston Seawall store early in the am. Got what I needed... in and out quickly.

The discounts Kroger advertises in the store where you take a picture of the QR code on the colored poster does not bring up the digital coupon nor the item, so you have to search on their website or app to find the item and the discounted price is not shown. Even then you might not find it. It is confusing. But I thought since the app had my Customer ID number (because I was signed in and that I had placed it in my list) that the items were loaded on my card. Not so. At the check out I was charged full price of $5.49 instead of $3.50 for Jimmy Dean All Natural Sausage, although I didn't catch it until I got in my car, so I had to go back. Also I was charged full price of $4.99 for the Hillshire Farm ultra thin Black Forest Ham instead of the Digital Coupon price of $2.97, but I caught that one and the attendant at the Self checkout corrected the price on the ham. Their digital coupons did not load up on my account. I find the app itself is not at all user friendly. Digital coupons were not applied and even some of the products I searched for on the app didn't show up in the results. This has happened before. Kroger needs to be professional in this Grocery game and hire skilled app designers to fix these problems or lose customers.

Think Walmart is cheaper than Kroger. It is NOT and Kroger offer a wider selection and customer service. Imagine that!

Arlan's has served Galveston for longer than I have been alive. From it's rebranding of Gerland's…read more26 years ago to its recent buyout by the La Michoacana Meat Market last December, this grocery store has prevented the East End from becoming a food desert, especially for nearby residents who don't have easy vehicle access. Many of the items are more expensive but still comparable to the prices of Kroger, Randall's, and Walmart way out on the West End. The selection of groceries aren't wide but all the usual produce and necessities can be found here. Even though I still opt for Kroger whenever I have a large grocery list, a quick trip here for milk or pasta saves me an additional 20 minutes that I would otherwise have to spend driving. If I can cut down a significant amount of time AND support a locally owned store, then so be it if I'm spending an extra dollar on milk. I recently picked up some discounted protein pasta that was actually cheaper than what I normally pay at Kroger. However, the cucumbers that I also bought during that visit tasted somewhat funky. I personally believe that ratings have a relative component to them which is what grants Arlan's a 3rd star despite their okay prices and occasionally odd-tasting produce. It's a vital part of the East End's community and without it, many of Galveston's residents would be left underserved.

It's well organized with a a variety of dedicated staff and vendors. It's a true community experience. The location is spacious and accessible, and the food that I have bought from there is always really good. I have bought baked goods like cookies, breads, bagels, Indian food, and dog treats for my dogs. I've also bought fresh vegetables and handmade soaps. Today I was there on a rainy day, and the vendors were still there and ready for their customers. I was also impressed by the community support because people were still shopping in the rain, with and without umbrellas and raincoats.
