It was our first time at Kroger. We just happened to see it on our way back to the hotel. It's very well-stocked, and the service was friendly. I saw things that I haven't seen at grocery stores in Florida. We purchased a few snacks along the way for our TNF game. The SugarBee apples were difficult to pass up. They were sweet & juicy. A great evening snack. We were also very pleased with the Lindt Dubai Chocolate. These were the real deal (Manufactured in Germany). I'd purchased some recently at a drug store that didn't taste the same as what we had in Switzerland. It was manufactured in New Hampshire, and had more of a hazelnut flavor. The ones at Kroger were truly pistachio. Loved it! You wouldn't think there's a difference, but there is. I was also blown away by the display of tamales. I'd be at this grocery store more often if I lived in Texas. Is it better than Publix? That's difficult to say. They both have their share of pros and cons. All I can say is that I'd be just as happy shopping at Kroger. read more

Grocery store options on the island are few. We prefer to come to the Kroger as opposed to the Walmart just a few blocks away. Sorry folks no H-E-B here. Inside you'll find a deli complete with Boar's Head meats and hot, roasted and fried chicken. There's a decent sized bakery, a small cheese shop complete with an olive bar and a fairly large produce section which has fresh cut produce. For you early shoppers, you'll be happy to know there's a Starbucks near the checkouts. You'll also find a fresh meat and seafood counter along with a floal dept. Overall quality of the fresh food is on par and you can find digital deals along with regular sale items. However, I'm not a fan of the Kroger card which means I miss out on some of the deals, but if you ask, sometimes the checker will scan a card for you. I stepped foot into this Kroger and was completely impressed at first sight. The deli section is full of an assortment of baked goods, salads, and sandwiches. They even have an olive bar full of a variety of olives you can add to a plate to go. Lunch or dinner would be a delight here. The food seems fresh and of good quality. It's easy to navigate and not too crowded. You can also pick up some fresh pre-packed fruit for a healthy snack option. The aisles are clean, organized, and clearly labeled with the day's deals and coupons. Since I haven't shopped at a Kroger for groceries in years, I decided to get a membership plus card to take advantage of their sales. There's also a Starbucks located inside. Everyone I've dealt with so far has been helpful, especially the attendants at the self-check-out aisle. read more

Nice big Kroger and in clean condition, looks recently remodeled. We were camping in our RV at the state park and needed supplies so we came here. They had everything we needed. About the only thing I could knock a star off for was the check out lines were long and only a few open with cashiers. I just don't like doing self checkout so I wish they had a few more lanes open but it was the day after Christmas so maybe staff was off that day. read more

I had tried to get here on several occasions while I was here. It was such an afterthought on some days that by the time I got around to it, it was too late. Well, one day, I made my way over here only to figure out that the hours were not correct online. But I was able to get over here one day to grab a lunch. If you are in a time crunch this isn't a bad option. And it's not because it is a grocery store, but because they do have hot options available. Come in, veer to the right and you are at a counter where you can order a meal to go. There are some options that may take a bit more time to prepare, but mostly, it is a quick stop. Every day there is a special and I just happened to be there when the burger meal was the deal. They will top it the way you like and set it up with a side of fries. Condiments are in packets to grab with your meal. There are drink coolers nearby to grab to pair. Checking out you can go the self checkout route if you so choose. Nothing special about the meal, kind of reminds you of a school lunch. read more

We originally came in to purchase a car sticker after having a vehicle inspected. There were a few people in line ahead of us at the Customer Service desk. While we waited I enjoyed looking at the beautiful flowers for sale in the floral department. Before long we were waited on by a sweet woman who was just a month away from retirement. I don't remember her name, but she was such a delight! She is staying on to help work Mothers Day and then she'll retire! She was very friendly and professional as she got the car sticker printed off for us. We shopped for a few things we needed and then we were off to the checkouts. It didn't appear that any cashier lanes were open so we headed to the self checkout. Disaster Zone! We had to get help from the self checkout cashier that helps fix your orders so you can finish your transaction not once but twice! The second time was reviewed by the cashier and we were told because more than one person was helping scan things. Really!?! So, make sure only person in your party does the entire checkout process. With all the assistance we received it would have been more efficient to just have more cashier lanes open! read more

There isn't too much actually wrong with the physical store here. Though I did try shopping in store the other day and the lines were way too long with only a few registers open. I stood in line for about 20 minutes. This review is for the online pickup process. I setup an online account with Kroger today. A remarkably troublesome and cumbersome process involving several browsers, checking emails and texts, logging in multiple times. Already annoyed, I then attempted to use the equally cumbersome product selection process, with too many options, the browser forgetting my location or forgetting my filters, and being unable to tell if coupons were being applied. And even after that horrendous 30 minute process, the purchase itself could not be completed because of error code RV9547. I tried processing 5 times before calling customer support. Only then I learned that I cannot order online at all unless first shopping in the store and setting up the account IN STORE and then WAITING 24 hours to order online. What a freaking joke. At that point I knew I'd never do any of that. And there is no way to delete your account online. And of course that first phone person could not delete my account. So I get blind passed to person #2 to explain everything again and give all my account info again. Then I'm blind-passed to person #3 for another round of explaining and info sharing. I hope CEO Rodney takes a gander and makes some serious improvements. Otherwise, rest-assured, I will never shop at Kroger again. read more

We visited this kroger several times while in galveston. It was a welcome surprise to have a kroger which is a familiar store anyway. The store itself is laid out not as user friendly as some of the other krogers or king soopers that i am used to shopping at. However they did have most of what we were hoping to find. The employees/staff however were not friendly! at least not the several we encountered over the several days. Was definitely not impressed with them! Employees can really make or break a business. If i lived in galveston on a regular basis i would probably look around to see if there were any other options to find my needs. read more

So I visited Galveston with my family this summer and of course we needed last min items. Of course we were lost but one of their store pick up shoppers was beyond helpful!!! The discounts Kroger advertises in the store where you take a picture of the QR code on the colored poster does not bring up the digital coupon nor the item, so you have to search on their website or app to find the item and the discounted price is not shown. Even then you might not find it. It is confusing. But I thought since the app had my Customer ID number (because I was signed in and that I had placed it in my list) that the items were loaded on my card. Not so. At the check out I was charged full price of $5.49 instead of $3.50 for Jimmy Dean All Natural Sausage, although I didn't catch it until I got in my car, so I had to go back. Also I was charged full price of $4.99 for the Hillshire Farm ultra thin Black Forest Ham instead of the Digital Coupon price of $2.97, but I caught that one and the attendant at the Self checkout corrected the price on the ham. Their digital coupons did not load up on my account. I find the app itself is not at all user friendly. Digital coupons were not applied and even some of the products I searched for on the app didn't show up in the results. This has happened before. Kroger needs to be professional in this Grocery game and hire skilled app designers to fix these problems or lose customers. read more

I have a love/hate relationship with this location but lately it's leaning more towards hate. This place used to be always clean but now it's starting to look like a bad Walmart (because not all Walmart are bad lol). Parking sucks here. It's located right on the Seawall so you have the tourists parking here for free instead of paying on the Seawall. And is it just me or everyone that drives in this parking lot are in a hurry with a bad attitude. I recently noticed that they stopped selling Rotisserie chicken! Why?? So bummed about that. They have a sushi station and they're pretty tasty for a grocery store sushi. Meat and seafood department is good also, great selection and the butchers are very friendly. They will add seasonings to your protein fee of charge. Produce is pretty decent and price is on point. Love their floral shop here. They would run specials on their bouquet for $1-$5 a bundle. Cakes in the bakery is pretty good as long as you order ahead of time. I've seen cakes on the fridge that are way past their freshness. Yuck. This store tends to get busy especially during Spring break, Summertime, weekends etc then it turns to a bad Walmart. read more

While there's a large selection of various nutrition-type bars, as I was searching today I found a number of boxes that were expired. In just one flavor of one brand, three of the four boxes were expired. I mentioned it to someone nearby who looked like a manager and was wearing a store name tag and she thanked me and asked me to "just leave them there" (on the shelf where I found them). So upfront I told him I wanted paper bags. He went a pulled them out to show me he had them then shook and said here you go. I said no help today then call your mgr And comments were really ,plus I will help. I know it's tough to get help but looking back there weren't employees in the flower department produce or behind meat counter. I was staying on the island for a few days and didn't want to spend the week eating out so into Kroger I went. I loved that Kroger had all the organic and healthy foods I eat on a daily basis! The salad bar was great for lunch and dinner and I got my sushi craving fulfilled thanks to their sushi bar. The vegetables were plentiful. My only complaint was that the fresh cut fruit looked like they had been sitting way too long and needed to be dumped. Excellent customer service too! read more

We came for the groceries but stayed for the corn-spiracy. The store was plenty well stocked very clean and easily able to find whatever you needed including a guy who is overly interested in telling me that evils of corn and the corn industry. That was kind of strange but I guess it's part of the local color! The check out lines were long so we did self checkout which was also long but we did get out of there pretty quickly despite it. Parking lot was empty but it was early in the morning so before warned that it could fill up quickly as it's small. read more

This! This here! This........this is the finest Kroger south of Houston. This Kroger located on the Seawall in Galveston, this is the finest of all Krogers that one can set foot in. Why you ask? Is it the wine selection? Is it the large beer selection, and the make your own six pack option that many other locations don't have? Maybe it's the huge gourmet cheese selection also not found at all locations. The massive gluten free section that dwarfs what's available at other stores of the same name? The self serve nut, and make your own peanut butter machine? The fact that they have an All-Point ATM in the store (I love those ATMs). The vast amount of vegan meatless meat options (Not all locations have this stuff). Any and all those things and more, are reason enough to visit the Galveston Kroger. I may have a soft spot for it; seeing as I was in this Kroger all the time growing up in my home town of Galveston. But regardless, this is the best Kroger. My fav location obviously. Approximately 5 days ago, I visited this store on Ratchet Island:Galveston Edition. It was an EXTREAMLY HOT day. I have hypoglycemia and I was feeling overheated and so I purchased a beverage and some sushi and sat on the side where there is a picnic table and drank some of the beverage and ate the sushi. Apparently, I didn't get it into my system fast enough and I passed out. I came to and found myself in the back of an ambulance. I was looked over and was released to leave. I retreived my E-scooter from tbe store security guard, whom I thanked, BUT when he gave my scooter back he informed me that I was being ASKED TO LEAVE THE PROPERTY!!! I can understand mitigation of liability BUT THAT WAS INSENSITIVE and frankly RUDE as HELL!!! I left, BUT I WILL NEVER RETURN or shop at ANY KROGER'S STORE AGAIN. You can check my shopper ID, I have been a Krogers customer for nearly 30 YEARS and generally, have been a happy customer. The Galveston location blew it for you. CONGRATULATIONS, I'll now be going to HEB even though I'll have to drive to Texas City. You better HOPE they don't put one on this island, m'kay!!!! read more

So I tried the new online shopping with Kroger, you load your groceries to your online account and pick a pick up time. You can load your online coupons to your account and bring the ones you have. Pulled in called the number on the sign confirmed my pick up and they loaded my groceries, I paid and left. Awesome!! The category of "out of town visitors," that one forgot something at home and, two, just needs to pick up a few beverage necessities to fully sink into laziness mode back at the hotel. READ REVIEW!!!! CAR DANGER!!! Car got into... the one time our car's battery went out--- it didn't lock behind us like it usually does. SOMEONE went through all our stuff... Left a mess in the car (all of our receipts/coupons we left in the glove compartment was sprawled everywhere) . We were only gone for about 10 minutes, but that's all it takes. The person who did it is still around... We had nothing valuable in sight, it's just that the car is a exotic car I guess... Who ever it was, I don't know what they wanted... nothing is missing. My coins aren't missing, my boyfriends gun is not missing, our phone chargers are here, NOTHING IS MISSING. But my boots that were in my seat got squished/stepped on, I had to clean up after some stranger going through my stuff. I am very grateful that nothing is missing. Thank you, Thank you. (I left nothing valuable inside, besides some Kit Kat candy bars inside and my boots) I believe someone was looking for cash. How do you rate a grocery store where you don't buy any food? In the case of this Kroger it would be beer availability. We don't live here; instead visitors from the west (Austin) with a healthy agenda on alcohol. This store has a striking resemblance to the Randalls in our city; check the wiki links and they are not connected. Our visits encompassed most of the store with a heavy dose of the beer and wine area. This is leading up to not much in the way of words to a four star nod, the kicker was the Starbucks kiosk. I was able to sneak out of the hotel Sunday morning and walk about a block and select a coffee my wife is used to as well as a pumpkin spice frap for myself. Given the location and the breeze off the gulf with the coffee goods, its like the holidays on the beach! I strolled back to the hotel watching the beautiful sunrise sippin' my brew and the wife woke up to find that familiar cup next to her bed. Came to this grocery store while visiting the island and they have pretty much everything you will need! They have a very large selection of fresh fruits and vegetables, a sushi bar, cheese counter, sub sandwich bar, a Starbucks inside and of course all your other typical grocery needs. I purchased some protein shakes here and I took them back to my hotel and tried one. The shakes where gross so I decided to take them back. The man working behind the return counter was very nice and helpful and gave me a full refund. Good spot! I will be back. read more

Tried their app twice for curbside pick up. App wasn't working and showed everything unavailable on the second try. Being a senior with risks I was not happy to have to go inside. Hardly anybody had a mask on. So I was trying to quickly grab everything. People were almost brushing up against each other since they were so close in aisles. But checkout lady was very nice and had a mask on. The bag boys were talking standing in a group side-by-side without their masks on because they were eating candy I won't be going back there again. read more
